Hue Jackson: 'We're moving on; we need to close that chapter'' Anyone that hasn't moved on and closed the chapter on Josh a year or 2 ago was only fooling themselves. Thank god Hue finally said it. Only time will tell if Hue meant it.

I wonder if Gordon saying it's "alcohol" related is a way for him to find another loophole

I wonder if Gordon saying it's "alcohol" related is a way for him to find another loophole Doesn't really matter because he'll most likely never play another down in the NFL again. 3 years removed from the playing field is an entire career for the average NFL player these days.

I have maintained for years that Gordon can not be counted on. His troubles are his own doing.
It's amazing how much support he had. Look at the list of names the commish listed who vouched for Gordon. And he blows them all off and continues on being selfish, punk that he is.

I wonder if Gordon saying it's "alcohol" related is a way for him to find another loophole not likely. under the program, a substance is a substance - it doesn't matter if it is alcohol, marijuana, or meth. For his sake, I hope rehab is successful. Once you get past any need for detox, rehab is really only a place to learn; "success" requires that the individual decides that they want to be sober more than they want to drink, and an ongoing, daily commitment to that.

Speaking only for myself ..... I have hoped that he would get his life together .... just like I have hoped that Manziel would get his life together. It is obvious that both guys have major problems. At least Gordon has taken a big step towards regaining his health.
No one knows if he will succeed in taking control of his life, or not. However, even though he will never play for the Browns again, I hope that he gets his addiction under control, so that he doesn't wind up killing himself as a result.
As far as having hoped that he would be able to make it back to the field .... well, of course I was hoping for that. Gordon has game changing talent. Unfortunately, he does the team no good sitting out year after year.
I suspect that he will get a chance somewhere when he returns. Someone will see his talent, and decide to take a chance on him.
*EDIT to add:
I also don't think that it is fair to call him a "selfish punk". I think that it is obvious that he is an alcoholic, and may have drug addiction issues as well. That's an illness, not necessarily a weakness of character.

I almost think that the pressure of the NFL is too much for him, and that he is not emotionally and mentally strong enough to handle that pressure.

This is his third time, at least the third (who knows what hasn't been made known to the public) that this kid has entered rehab.
What makes anyone think this time is any different than those of the past? He's checked out of one saying there wasn't any problems, so what does that mean?
It means he don't care about the game. More important living a few hours sloshed and buzzed than a lifetime of what likely would be extremely comfortable for him and his family (least the family he's not a deadbeat father to.)

It's amazing to me how many people say they don't do drugs, but they drink. I always tell them then you do do drugs, yours is just legal.

You are right in that alcohol is a drug. I phrased it that way to differentiate between alcohol ate street drugs.

It makes no sense, but I want to hang onto him only to spite him. I think he wants off this team, and I think there will be at least one team that will take a shot on him. I want him to sit and rot on our roster (purely out of spite).
Not the adult thing to do, much less the smart thing, but that's just where I'm at with him and this team right now.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Although, given Pryors results, if Josh walks I won't miss him. The truly funny part of this is that had Josh gotten his act together, Pryor, as good as he appears to be, would not be our #1. Josh would. The thought of that makes me smile, but but but but. It ain't gonna happen.

Maybe if he had gotten his act together in 2014. Not recently though. Pryor is hands over fist better than Josh will ever be again.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Josh is a rare talent at the WR position. when he is on the field his is the top dog out there on both teams.
idk his talent say we keep him...his sudden decision to enter rehab when he did makes it hard to keep him though. idk I'm torn I like the kid.

I'm torn as well. Guy hasn't seen the field in what, two years and he comes in and makes a freak catch in a preseason game.
But how long can he hang on? Would we even try to bring him back this year? I say let him sit till next year, we have Coleman back in practice this week so...

yes yes he came in an played like he didn't miss any time at all. he is a beast on the field...man idk I would try to work him back in the line-up. shoot Coleman, Gordon, Pryor, Barnidge all out would be huge.

He was suspended for 11 games in 2014, 16 games in 2015, and 8 so far in 2016. He was going to be able to come back this year, and back-slid yet again. He's never going to figure it out. We have wasted enough hope on a lost cause. I would not be surprised at this point if he never plays again.

Although, given Pryors results, if Josh walks I won't miss him. We have someone. Coleman is back this week. I want that young man to get as much playing time as he can. No need for meathead to take snaps away from the future and I for one hope that Coleman is that future. We know for damned sure meathead is NOT. Cut his dumb ass the very second he is reinstated and be done with it. Frankly, I'd PAY someone to take him off our hands. He can't be gone soon enough. I can abide a lot but incredible stupidity is not one of them....

What evidence do you have that he will ever figure it out? Or that he could still be special? He hasn't played in forever. He had ONE great season. We still lost. We need TEAM guys. Like, Pryor. That guy puts his body on the line for this team every week. Meathead cares about one person, himself. Period. He doesn't give a rats ass about Coach Jackson, about his position coach, about his teammates, or about this franchise and its fans. He is completely selfish and more importantly, he's dead from the neck up. My favorite Jimmy Johnson quote "Hit me in the head with a hammer the next time I want to draft a dumb guy". They don't get any dumber than the meathead.

If Gordon is reinstated and he's in shape I put him, Coleman, and Pryor in a 3 man rotation and hope he plays well then I would trade his behind in the off-season. Right now you'd probably wouldn't get more then a late rnd pick for Gordon but if he plays the rest of the season with out getting into trouble and plays well you might up that to a 3rd or 4th rnd pick.
