Today I got our handicapped son on his workshop bus as I do every day. I like to go to mick D's for a fountain diet coke. Well today I needed gas so about a 1/2 mi from our house is a gas station. So ya I have a 1/4 tank but I hate being that low. I get to the station and put my turn signal on before the first turn. I go to the second turn I hear breaks. How he didn't see a turn signal for over 200 ft.i have no idea. But he hit me on the right side we ended up close to 15 ft from hitting the building. Because of my truck having more than 100,000 miles on it they said it may be totaled. I said if there is nothing wrong with the 4 wheel drive really. Now yes I'm sore, yes the video shows he hit me and was at fought. Fix my truck don't total it.

your truck is gone and it's never coming back. Be like Elsa, let it go.

Glad your truck was the only thing that got hurt. though you shouldn't be surprised if you are sore when you wake up in the morning.

Have their insurance company replace the vehicle, and you can also check and see if you can buy your old truck "from" the insurance company.
If you just replace the truck, though, make sure that they actually replace it, and don't just try to throw low book value at you. You have the right to go find trucks that are similar to your old one, and tell the insurance company what they cost. You aren't going to buy a truck for low wholesale value. (usually, anyway) Don't let them pressure you into signing anything ..... and don't just accept and cash a check without finding a suitable replacement for your truck. Generally, once you cash a check, you have accepted that check as payment in full for your old vehicle.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Vehicles aren't always replaceable. You have one long enough to work all the bugs out of it and it's running fine. No worries, you've already spent the money getting it up to snuff. Plus, any issues it does still have you already know about and have plans to deal with them. Then the insurance company replaces it. Now you have a vehicle you have no history with and you start from scratch working out the bugs and learning the issues. New money to spend while you deal with new problems. Real pain in the ass.

I drove my last F150 for 240K miles. 100K is practically new. Good luck with the insurance company Nordawg - I'm glad you weren't hurt.

Dave I've had 4 f150's all with the 300 6. Got over 300k on all of them. My wife finally told me your no longer working why don't you get a more family friendly truck.
So I bought a Chevy Silverado crew cab. 4wheel drive. And was running just as good as when I bought it. And looked nice also. So ya I'm alittle bummed that it may be totaled.

My '92 F150 had that 6-cyl engine, with a 5-speed manual trans, push button AM radio, crank windows, and manual door locks. I bought it in 1994 with 19K miles on it for $10K. I drove it for 16 years and it never let me down, never broke down, never left me stranded. Northeast Ohio winters finally did it in - rust on the body and frame from road salt and so much snow. I felt like crying when I gave it to my mechanic in exchange for repairs on my wife's Explorer. Mechanic tells me he still has it, and is fixing it up for his son when the kid learns to drive.
Now I'm driving a stretch cab F150 with the 5.4L engine and its nowhere near as quick as my old guy was. Just more bells and whistles that I'd be just as happy without. I swear, I wish car and truck makers would go back to making basic vehicles with less "systems" in them that eventually go bad.

Ya I miss the crank Windows. When I was working I always drove a reg. cab with a rear slider. The last Ford I got was the 96 with the 300 in it. I ran that until I got the Silverado. It had over 350k before I traded it. Because of how good of shape it was in I still got 1500 out of it.
Anyways just got the video of the accident and I don't know what this guy was doing but the only thing that stopped him was hitting the rear end of my truck truck was God. No skid marks no braking.
What really pisses me off was in the last 6 months I was getting ready for winter. 4 new rotate 4 news brakes, rear tires moved to front and 2 new tires on the back that are a week old. I have close to a grand in the truck in the last 6 months. It's easy to do that when it's paid off. And this is something that you don't have to do every year. But I planned on driving this truck until they take my keys. It was in that good of shape.
Unfortunately after looking at the pictures my 4 wheel drive axle is broke in 2 places and the only thing that kept my tire on was the bolts to the rotar. Everything behind that I broke along with a crack in the frame right by where all the wheel stuff connect's. Also I had stuff coming out of my 4 wheel drive.
I know my wife tried to get me to go back to the er on Friday night but went back on Sunday morning. 5 hrs in the er. That was twice as long as I was in the day of the accident.I asked a question about my aortic aneurysm, because my chest was hurting. Dr. said shouded be a problem, well guess what L have this monitored every year as my Mom died from this.
In March of this year and last it was 3.5 cm. Right after the accident they said it was 4.1 That is not good. So tomorrow i have to call my heart Dr. because right now it can be fixed. Also my Ortho because my knee replacement is badly swollen.
Sorry for the long rant but if someone could see brake lights and a turn signal I wouldn't lose a truck I like or be going through this pain.

For some reason, people seem to think that other drivers are supposed to take turns at full speed. It drives me crazy. I used to like to drive, but any more I don't like to get in the car because there are so many terrible drivers to deal with.

I always look in my mirror for some reason when I turn right. I seen this construction van bearing down on me and not slowing down. All I could do was brace for impact. I don't don't know what he was doing but he wasn't paying attention to what was in front of him.

I can't stand when people expect me to go on two wheels to make a right turn ... but I also hate when other drivers don't accelerate through their turn on a busy road

Don't know what he was doing but he wasn't paying attention. I was turning right, turn signal and break light on. The vedio showed him excellerate . He hit the wrong paddle and now I have a truck totaled.

Well because of the condition of the truck they said they may be able to fix it. They have to get it into a shop and look at the 4 wheel drive. I know the cosmic this are cheap but the 4 wheel and axle are not. It was broken in two places with something coming out of the transfer case. I really hope they can fix this. On a side I seen my orthopedic surgeon yesterday. It was a secluded appointment from my hip replacement. Of course every replacement was x rayed in the er and of course my knee was swollen.the Dr in the er said I should be on a walker or crutches. My orthopedic surgeon said no. But he said I can expect to be sore for the next month. Really I can barely move now.

Had my appointment with my primary Dr today because of the accident. She looked through all the tests and asked if I seen my orthopedic Dr. I said I have. She asked what he told me. I told her all my replacements were still intact and that now my spine is full of artristis. No big surprise as my OA is attacking every joint it was just a matter of time before it made it there.
Anyways she said the same thing. You're going to be sore for about a month. And schedule your appointment on the way out for your flu shot and yearly blood work.

OK really really this [censored] that hit me is calling me for a witness for him against the city. He doesn't say either one of us were wrong just the city didn't have a curb or lines marked. He pretty much said it's the city fault. You know what you hit me at least 40 mph. It's your freaking fault.

Well that hit me had his day in court today. I made a mistake I was not a witness for him but the city against him. He tried to say the video was not right. They played it in slow motion for him.
At the end the only reason he tried to fight it was the 2 points on his license. Anyways he got the points the fine court costs. He pays my deductible, repairs and hospital bills.
Now need to get the truck back and I can hopefully have this mess behind me.

They figure his service life at 10 yrs. Then James gets a new service dog and Takoda becomes our pet. All I can say is I will surely ball my eyes out if he passes first. He has been wonderful for James, and a wonderful member of our family. Oh ya and he gives me that look when I say come-on old man you're moving slower than me.

Just a update. Last Friday I finally got my truck back. I figured since it was already in to fix the things from the accident. I can get the things I wanted fix would not be to bad. Was only 350.00 for my part but now the truck looks brand new.
Now for me. Last week I finally was able to walk without my cane. My ribs still hurt, but all the swelling and bruising is gone. Not there are still some medical bills that his insurance has to take care of, and then I can finally put this to rest.

Only a two month stay on IR.
Hope this gets wrapped up easily (ie. insurance payments).

And your final recovery becomes complete. I had just gotten off my cane 2wks before the accident. And it really pissed me off to go back on it. Anyways I'm off it now, but I will still use it on those bad days. The thing is because of my hip replacement I was 1 wk from riding my bike again when the accident happened. So I went from May till now not being able to ride. Anyways I have to make sure I can still balance the bike at a stop, of course I can do that in the garage, but I'm nervous about throwing my leg over the seat. Maybe sometime next week.
