That was deflating.

Hopefully a healthier Indians team next year can pull it off.

If we had our starting rotation completely healthy it might've been a different story. Definitely need to pick up better hitters for next season.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM

We've just gotta stay healthy next year. Get our starting pitchers and Brantley back.

Stay the course. Our team is built to contend. No way would end up in this position with a healthy rotation.

No Lead, don't blow it up.

For those of you wishing for a power bat? Spoiler Alert: it won't happen.

Expect to see this team back again next year, and win it with a healthy rotation of the same guys.

Hopefully Lindor grows up and learns from this too. He didn't perform well himself the last 3 games. The whole team needs to learn from this. Klubot battled and gave all that he had. Lindor and Nap couldn't hit squat when we needed them to.

just heart wrenching

chances of that happening are slim in baseball...I've never said blow it up, i said upgrade, guys like napoli, naquinn, davis, chisenhall all provided very little, Francona ran the pitching staff into the ground, some out of necessity, some out of loyalty and ego. I said when shaw came out I was nervous, because he's known for imploding at worst time. But like I said, I'd take a healthy Cookie and Salazar over the should be bullpen arms of Bauer and Tomlin any day, but at the end of the day, pitching only takes you so far..So yeah, unless they add a power bat, or a great contact hitter, it'll be really hard to get back. Teams like Toronto and Boston will get better. We have a healthy farm, hopefully there's some help there as well. Maybe Yandy, Meija, Zimmer or Benson can contribute next year. We did more than expected, I don't really consider blowing a 3-1 lead a choke, more of a meltdown, had chicago lost being the favorites, that would have been a choke.. We got every ounce of juice out of this..though maybe nap needed just a little more..lol

Getting into the World Series with 50% of your Starting rotation out is something all by itself & without arguably your best player ..

The Bats were very disappointing especially Napoli !1!!

epic meltdown, only in Cleveland. This is probably the start of another 60 year drought.

I felt that Kluber and Miller literally had nothing but fumes last night (as did Chapman). Problem was, their bats were just a little more consistent

Hats off to the Tribe and Tito. WWe didn't give it away. Some hitting other than long ball would help. Go, Tribe!

I don't think the Indians have anything to be ashamed of. I also believe that the loss of the their number 2 and 3 starters caught up to them. Having that extra day of rest would have been huge for Kluber and Tomlin. I also believe we could have went deeper in the game before we had to call on the pen.

It was a very entertaining series and I really enjoyed watching it. I also have to add that while I know that many of you thought the announcers were biased, I felt that John Smoltz was as good of an analyst as I have ever heard. He seemed to call things before they happened and I thought his points were spot on. I really enjoyed listening to a man w/his knowledge and understanding of the game.

agreed Vers ... Smoltz was excellent. Very intelligent and made stuff easy to understand as well. Nice addition for FOX

The umpire didn't do the Indians any favors. His strike zone was about as big as a shoe box. He was equally bad for both teams but when you reduce the strike zone like that it favors the better hitting team, which was the Cubs. They knew they could sit and wait for a pitch over the middle about thigh high and that's what they did.

The Indians depleted pitching staff just ran out of gas....

They do need more offensive punch, whether it's just the young guys getting better, somebody already in the farm system, or somebody from the outside..

Look at the world series batting averages. At the top is Kluber who was 1 for 2 so he was batting .500...

the next 5 guys are Scwarber, Ross, Soler, Rizzo, and Zobrist before you get to the next Indian... Then you have Napoli, Naquin, and Chisenhall, who were a combined 7 for 47.. a cool .148 with 2 RBI's... Napoli was the biggest surprise, I know everybody isn't going to hit .300 in the WS but Napoli was supposed to be the experienced guy and he was getting very bad/weak swings.. zero confidence.

With all that said, if the Indians pitching staff was healthy, I still think they win..

Naquin was a huge bust as well too ... I agree though, the health (or lack thereof) of the 2-3 starters was the major thing

Man, that was absolutely heartbreaking. I turned it off immediately after the final out. I find the Cubs "fans" to be nauseating.

The Indians had a hell of a year and never gave up last night. It's amazing what they accomplished without arguably their best hitter and their #2 and #3 starters.

It'll be interesting to see what the FO does in the offseason. I'd love to see Guyer back. Need to sign Santana and hopefully re-sign Santana. Napoli will be a wild card. I'd like to have him back on another 1 year deal.

If Brantley can finally get healthy, it will be a huge boost to the lineup.

Pitchers and catchers report in ~ 3.5 months.

Made a lot of great memories with my family this year at the ball park watching this team but, damn, I'm bummed right now.

it's tough to think the tribe was RIGHT there. bottom of the 9th, tie game, game 7 of the WS

Yup, that was their chance to close it out and failed, miserably. A solo shot, a walk and an extra base hit or ANYTHING but a 1-2-3 inning sends Cleveland into a frenzy of bliss. Instead, nothing.

I've had quite a few people text me about how proud we should be of them....I call BS. Sure, nobody really thought they could get there 1 week, 1 month and 1 year ago, but they did and still failed.

You play to win the game. You especially play to win when it's that game in that series in that town. Anything short of a win is a chokejob and we'll be remembered forever as losers. There's no sugarcoating that fact.

I agree. Many of the hitters just didn't come through in the last three games. Tribe had chances, and many missed opportunities. Think of all of the plays

the amount we left on base was staggering..like i said..we were living and dying by the long ball..we need a few guys that can hit for average, I want no part of bringing napoli back..he's not an everyday player anymore and it showed as he was done by september..But we have options i think in the farm, plus I feel we will find another bat in the offseason.. I like guyer, think he should play more than he did and of course the miller trade was fantastic, so the FO showed they can find guys..

the first inning alone started terribly. Lead off HR and picked off SMH

Yep, that home run was what I like to call an omen play.

I'm trying not to see any more articles about the game, but it's hard to do. It just brings me down. I wanna forget!

Okay, I have to get my rant out of the way and my Facebook feed has way too many Cubs fans on it.

As an irrational fan:

WTF!?!?!? Rain delay! Injured players! Crappy strike zone (for both sides) ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! It's like the almighty reached down and said "this year it's the Cubs" and let loose the rain to drown out any momentum we had, allowing them to regroup.

Worst of all, my 5 year old boy was running around this morning singing "Go Cubs Go". If I've lost him to Chicago sports because of last night I'm going to be furious!

As a casual baseball fan:

Joe Maddon did everything he could to give the Tribe that series. Thank you Joe, it wouldn't have even been close if it wasn't for you. Next time you work your closer 2+ innings in a 5 run game it won't work out for you the next day. Oh, and pulling your starting pitcher who was cruising for another starter that won't field his position probably won't either.

I did have a couple of issue with Francona as well.

At the time I was hoping that he'd have just had a bullpen day in game 4. I realize why he did what he did and I don't blame him, I just would have rather had my depleted pitching staff on as normal a routine as I could. Hindsight being 20/20 Tomlin and especially Kluber just ran out of gas.

I also think that Napoli needed to be pushed down the lineup. He just wasn't making good contact and the transition from Lindor to Ramirez was too often getting lost in a bad at bat. Given our bench, I think he needed to be in the lineup but it was definitely a different flavor when he had to sit. I think he's still an important piece to this team if he comes back but Tito's got to have some flexibility in his batting order.

I'm also not sure why Miller was the first one in. I get that he's the guy that you want to smooth out the rough edges, but Shaw to Miller to Allen seemed to work and I'd have much rather seen that at the end. I think Miller and Allen would have been much better to bridge that rain delay. Damn rain delay!!!

In the end, I'm damn proud of this team and I hope they get back there in the near future against a team I can really hate.

Anybody else feeling a little sad, like almost depressed? Not because we lost but because it's over... for almost a month almost every day I've been thinking about the game that night (or at most the following night).. then a brief break between series but always something to look forward to.. now it's over...

Pretty lousy day. I thought the Cavs ending the drought might turn the corner for Cleveland sports. a 2nd championship in the same year would've been awesome sign that we turned the corner. Instead, back to business as usual. Get close and lose.

Southwest employees may have had the worst day. On Wednesday I saw some videos from the airport that showed employees heckling Cubs fans as they got off an airplane from Chicago. Cubs fans are probably making their day miserable today.

No, I'm depressed and sad its over and we lost. Today at work I just felt under the weather, almost sick, maybe I still am. Like I pretty much don't want to hear from anybody.

It seems the game or games took a lot out of me for some reason.

I'm an early-to-bed early-to-rise person.

Boy was October a lot of fun. Me getting to watch ~ 15 Indians post-season games (plus those late regular season games to clinch home field advantage).

But I had to postpone a few chores.

After taking that Nyquil and then getting back out of bed when Davis tied it up, I was a mess when the alarm went off at 5:50. I forced myself to bike to work. Glad I did. The rain just ended and that autumn wet leave smell was everywhere. Had a nice tailwind and really cranked the ride in. Win or lose, life goes on.
