What not only seems absurd but is would be this quote "A majority of individuals thought slavery was okay, that women shouldn't vote, and that consenting adults shouldn't be allowed to marry."
Comparing a cartoon team mascot to slavery, a women's right to vote, and gay rights. Now THAT is absurd
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Not really. I suppose the context in which it is used could be deemed offensive, but on the whole, no, I don't.
See, intent is the key component. I don't think the Chief was created as a way to make fun of or demean Native people. Our teams name is the Indians and the Chief is a created logo. It's that simple. There isn't or wasn't some grand plan to demean people. I disagree Peen, but once again I understand what you're trying to argue. If I put a burning cross in my backyard and my intent is to show my burning love for Christ, that's not gonna fly with a LOT of people.

You would show your burning love for Christ by leaving the cross up.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

"If Dolan chose to keep the Indians name and replace "Chief Wahoo" (the logo AND the name) with another logo... who would be upset by the change- and why?
I would oppose it because I have seen what happens when we give the crying left an inch, they then go for the mile. This is the way I see the Indians and the Browns... If the Browns moved to Baltimore, I would be a Baltimore fan today. I am a lifelong Browns fan, not a Cleveland fan. If the Indians go away, I may go too because I am a lifelong Indians fan.
