Props to Michael Moore, for months he predicted Trump would win and said he would the rust belt states. Say what you want about him, but he has been dead on for months now.

Nothing, as they will just gain all that money back in the massive tax cuts your boy is about to give them.

It was a win/win for them either way.

Only liberal comfortable enough to leave the coasts and talk to real people. And half the time he just wants to exploit them.

More from him:

Quote:
Midwest Math, or Welcome to Our Rust Belt Brexit.

I believe Trump is going to focus much of his attention on the four blue states in the rustbelt of the upper Great Lakes – Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Four traditionally Democratic states – but each of them have elected a Republican governor since 2010 (only Pennsylvania has now finally elected a Democrat). In the Michigan primary in March, more Michiganders came out to vote for the Republicans (1.32 million) that the Democrats (1.19 million). Trump is ahead of Hillary in the latest polls in Pennsylvania and tied with her in Ohio. Tied? How can the race be this close after everything Trump has said and done? Well maybe it’s because he’s said (correctly) that the Clintons’ support of NAFTA helped to destroy the industrial states of the Upper Midwest. Trump is going to hammer Clinton on this and her support of TPP and other trade policies that have royally screwed the people of these four states. When Trump stood in the shadow of a Ford Motor factory during the Michigan primary, he threatened the corporation that if they did indeed go ahead with their planned closure of that factory and move it to Mexico, he would slap a 35% tariff on any Mexican-built cars shipped back to the United States. It was sweet, sweet music to the ears of the working class of Michigan, and when he tossed in his threat to Apple that he would force them to stop making their iPhones in China and build them here in America, well, hearts swooned and Trump walked away with a big victory that should have gone to the governor next-door, John Kasich.

From Green Bay to Pittsburgh, this, my friends, is the middle of England – broken, depressed, struggling, the smokestacks strewn across the countryside with the carcass of what we use to call the Middle Class. Angry, embittered working (and nonworking) people who were lied to by the trickle-down of Reagan and abandoned by Democrats who still try to talk a good line but are really just looking forward to rub one out with a lobbyist from Goldman Sachs who’ll write them nice big check before leaving the room. What happened in the UK with Brexit is going to happen here. Elmer Gantry shows up looking like Boris Johnson and just says whatever [censored] he can make up to convince the masses that this is their chance! To stick to ALL of them, all who wrecked their American Dream! And now The Outsider, Donald Trump, has arrived to clean house! You don’t have to agree with him! You don’t even have to like him! He is your personal Molotov cocktail to throw right into the center of the bastards who did this to you! SEND A MESSAGE! TRUMP IS YOUR MESSENGER!

And this is where the math comes in. In 2012, Mitt Romney lost by 64 electoral votes. Add up the electoral votes cast by Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It’s 64. All Trump needs to do to win is to carry, as he’s expected to do, the swath of traditional red states from Idaho to Georgia (states that’ll never vote for Hillary Clinton), and then he just needs these four rust belt states. He doesn’t need Florida. He doesn’t need Colorado or Virginia. Just Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. And that will put him over the top. This is how it will happen in November.

That doesn't sound anti-establishment, either.

Lol damn the GOP is already popping off at the mouth like they have no one to challenge their positions now.

Welp, this will be entertaining. I'll have plenty of popcorn ready.

Something about Trump that many are forgetting:

He was a democrat first and in my opinion his bigotry is the ONLY reason he flipped to the GOP. With that said, I actually think he might do things in a bipartisan "centrist" fashion, maybe even a little left leaning at times. Trump made the GOP his bitch. He knows he can bully the GOP into anything now so it's going to be fun to watch.

I hope he does a little of that. Nothing good can come from one like minded party controlling both houses of congress and the whitehouse.

The comedians are the real winners of this election.

Calexit is trending on twitter.

The liberal overreaction has been priceless. All these tolerant, understanding and inclusive liberals have been calling everyone who disagrees them racist, sexist and bigots. So much for tolerance.

Here's a few thoughts, 24 hours later.

1. Dems need to hold their own 'post-mortum' now. They need to sort out exactly what they wish to project as their "American Message.' A sizable contingent of their voters were not enamored with their 'establishment candidate' at all... and I think that made a big difference on voting day. Unlike R's, they must truly find that vein of communal thought, and work from there. Dems have always been a loose coalition of 'society's outsiders,' bound by a fragile fabric of self-interest and a common opponent. They won BIG with Obama, because he was the singular embodiment of that coalition. They lost yesterday, because Hillary Clinton was not.

2. Republicans now have 1600 Penn, The House and Senate, but are also a 'house divided.' That division began in 2010, with the rise of the Teas. They have their own soul-searching session to deal with, if they are to successfully negotiate a Trump presidency. They held their 2012 'autopsy,' and determined that substantial changes needed to be made. They made none... and the result:

* Their 'establishment choice' actually begged/prompted his paltry audience to applaud his "kill line."
* Hillary Rodham Clinton, the least popular Democratic candidate in modern history, won America's plurality of the popular vote.

That's an issue they'll need to address. Despite the results of 'Decision 2016,' Republicans are NOT 'sitting pretty.' Neither are Dems. Dems are going to have to reassess, understand what's important to their younger voting demographic- and present a candidate that looks nothing like Hillary Clinton. R's need to see this Trump election as a referendum AGAINST much of what they've relied upon for the past 30+ years.

BOTH sides of "America's Squakiest Wheels" sounded off in this election. Red voices squeaked louder for Trump against 14 others more mainstream candidates. Blue voices shouted loud by staying home, or voting for 3rd party candidates.

Neither mainstream political party is safe any more.

A total 'take-down' is coming, if both don't change their ways. WE saw the first examples of this with Trump's decimation of the GOP's stable of hopefuls in the primaries, and Bernie's strong showing, as well.

BOTH political parties need to do a deep re-assessment of who they are, what they believe, and what they plan to do for this Union Of Individuals. The writing has been on the wall for some time now. Tea Party Patriots rose up at the exact same time as did Occupy Wall Street.

As someone who may lean Left, but lives his personal life near The American Center, I can see our nation approaching another existential crossroad. We've survived every single one that we've encountered so far, and I expect that we'll do it again.

That said, I expect the process to be ugly, painful... and ultimately to the better... because that's how we've always done it.

I was a totally fkked-up 20-something, and managed to get my life in order, through deep introspection, hard work- and a commitment to making my life better. I had help along the way from people of ALL stripes. Without them, I wouldn't be speaking to you guys now. That's guaranteed. Since then, I've lived an existence that could only be described as miraculous. I did it with a blending of leftist ideology and conservative core principals. The two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, each need the other to give balance to a human life.

If I can use my own life story as a proxy, I'd say that America is where I was when I was in my 20's. In historical terms, we're still a young nation/culture, finding ourselves, as we lurch through adolescence.

I'm OK with that.
Because I remember who I was when I was a Teen/'20-Something'...

And my friends/family tell me that I turned out pretty much OK, as a Human Being.

Trump/Clinton is part of America's 'growing pains.'
The crap we see on social media and in the press are merely snapshots of a 'teen in turmoil.'

We'll survive a Trump presidency the same way we survived a Lincoln, FDR, Kennedy, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush 41/43, and POTUS 44 presidency.

Because we kids are still fools- and God protects drunks and fools, until they can stand on their own.

We have a ways to go. When we finally get there.....

God have mercy upon us all.

I have been on record as saying that I think that the Republicans are drifting away from their core values, and have left Conservatives behind.

However, let's be honest, it has been working for them all over the country.

The Republicans, while being accused of being racist, sexist, scum of the Earth, held the House and Senate, and won the White House. The majority of Governor offices are state legislatures are held by Republicans. (and it looks like they expanded both in this election)

The Democrats win when they have a really strong personality, for lack of a better word, running for President. Other than that, they don't. If I were to give them advice, I would tell them to find "Obama 2", a well spoken person who can call people to action effectively. Don't worry about experience, or anything else. Their platform is not winning.

That's how it looks to me, and I have no attachment to either party any longer, and haven't for years now.

Their platform is no less flawed or 'close to perfection' as the R's is.

NEITHER is an end-all/be-all.

Trump won the primaries/2016 election for the same reason as Obama did 9 years ago... so in that definition, you're right.

Which goes to show us all: neither side has a lock on truth, justice, or "the American Way."

Whats works- is salesmanship.

Poltical wonkery is for nerds like us.
Elections get decided when John Q. Public gets excited about going to the polls.

I don't know about that.

Democrats entered this election controlling just 7 states, the Governor's office, House, and Senate .... and after yesterday's election, that number is just 5.

The Republicans have total control of most of the states. and have taken some traditional Democrat strongholds, like the Kentucky State House that was the last in the south controlled by Democrats.

The Democrats are losing most of the country. The 5 states they control are no surprise. California, Oregon, Hawaii, Delaware, and Rhode Island. Democrats have Governors, or 1 or both State Legislatures in some states, but they seem to lose more and more with every passing election.

I think that the country is closer to being conservative than liberal, if you put it on a scale. I think that many people are worried about things like the bathroom issue, and other things, that some people try to brush off. I think that this steady stream of such issues has really forced the Democrat Party closer and closer to irrelevance in state politics. The Democrats thought that they would win back the Senate, and make big gains in the House. By rights, they should have won the Senate. Republicans defended the vast majority of Senate seats up for election. Democrats may have only picked up 1 seat. That is incredible. Democrats thought that they would make huge gains in the House. They didn't.

The Democrats only seem to do well anymore when they have a really strong, inspirational figure running at the top of the ticket. They need to moderate their platform, getting away from some of the issues that really push people away from them, and find a really great, inspirational speaker to lead their 2020 ticket.

If they don't, I see a continuing deterioration of their power in the states, and on the national level. People talked about how they thought the Republican Party was in danger, but I think that they are stronger than ever in many regards. The Democrats are shut out across the south, and now into the midwest as well. They need to do something that changes that, before they have no power anywhere.

I grew up in a family of conservative Democrats. Where is that party today? It no longer exists.

One other thing to mention.

Hillary Clinton had about 200,000 more votes, nationally, then Donald Trump. However, she won California and New York, by a combined total of 4 million votes. That means that she lost the rest of the US by 3.8 million votes. That's a big number. It looks good, because she ran up her vote totals and margins in those 2 states, but Democrats make a huge mistake if the continue to overlook the rest of the country. Clinton lost (formerly) Blue States like Michigan, PA, Wisconsin, and so forth. Republican Senators won in PA and Wisconsin. (Mich had no Senate race) Look at the state maps of these 3 states, and look at how many Democrats won in the House. Look at the national House map ..... and it's shocking. I see things getting even more difficult for Democrats if they don't change the path they have chosen.

You are right in that candidates win when they get people excited about going to the polls, but the danger is when they think they are exciting people, but are actually turning others off. Also, it seems as though most of the country has a default position of Republican, especially local and state, unless someone really excites them on the national level, and that person has coat tails. Even Obama, one of the more inspirational figures we have seen, saw his party lose badly when he was not, himself, running.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Great point on NY and Cali ... and it gets even more pinpointed when u look at how concentrated the counties were ... take NY for example ...

Manhattan and the burroughs were blue ... long island red .... there were maybe 2 other tiny basically blue dots in the rest of the state ...

Same thing with Penn. .. Pitt and Phili were blue and again maybe one or two blue dots in the rest of the state ...

I know Pa like the back of my hand and I told anyone who would listen the state would go to Trump. I saw the will of the people throughout the state while the cities were Democrat bastions.

The most amazing thing which almost never happens is the fact all of Pa overcame the votes of their cities to put Trump in office. Nearly impossible! Mission Accomplished!
