Look at the bright side. They'll keep the big mfg jobs in China with all the coal dust and smog, while China throws us a dawg bone now and then.

Looks like she won the national popular vote by about 200,000 votes.

Just as an aside, she won California and New York by a combined 4 million votes. Out of the 59 million people who voted for her, 9.6 million were in California and New York.

That's not an answer. Trump said he'd bring change to D.C. So. Where is the change? Gingrich? Goldman Sachs executives? Tell me. Where is the change? Or did you really not believe him either?

I'm amazed at the bitterness from the clinton supporters.

Saddened, really. It's kind of pathetic, but I know it's an indication of the furor that will be the next 4 years.

Please don't assume me a Clinton supporter. I'm not.
I know it'll be tough listen to the Orangeman be mocked. Listening to 8 years of Kenyan Muslim crap has been exhausting.

The one thing the election results have shown me is that Republicans apparently don't have the market cornered on fear, stereotyping and racism.

Selective memory I see. 2008-2016 8 years full of Republican bitterness, racism, and bigotry. Buckle Up.

They been calling our president an non-American muslim last 8 years yet start complaining when we bring up valid questions about Trumps presidency.

Who's "they"? Me?

Hey, let me take a quote from you: "You should've run a better candidate."

Honestly, to you and all others, when I read the board this morning, I was surprised how civil it seemed.

Man, things have changed.

I went to bed way before any "winner" was declared. First thing my wife said this morning was "There was a bad 3 car accident I came across on the way home."

Then "What time do we have to take Sooga's car up to the shop?

Then, "Did you hear who won?" I said no, who?
I was surprised.

How are you bragging?

You didn't even vote for trump. You have zero credibility.

At least I can't take it from Diam cause he voted for trump.

But you didn't contribute to the win at all. Out here swapping teams like a typical bandwagon fan. At least I rode with my girl til the end.

Congratulations to President Trump!

From the cartoon guy whose predictions about this election season have been more accurate than all the professionals:

http://blog.dilbert.com/post/152955248046/i-answer-your-questions-about-predicting-president

Quote:
I Answer Your Questions About Predicting President Trump

Did the United States Just Elect a Monster?

No. Clinton’s team of cognitive scientists and professional persuaders did a terrific job of framing Trump as scary. The illusion will wear off – albeit slowly – as you observe Trump going about the job of President and taking it seriously. You can expect him to adjust his tone and language going forward. You can expect foreign leaders to say they can work with him. You can expect him to focus on unifying an exhausted and nervous country. And you can expect him to succeed in doing so. (He’s persuasive.) Watch as Trump turns to healing. You’re going to be surprised how well he does it. But give it time.

I’ll be doing my persuasive best to help our new president unify the country. I’m not a monster either – just a little bit deplorable when the situation calls for it. And I would ask other Trump supporters to step up and be useful as well. If you helped elect Trump, you have a responsibility to calm the nerves of Clinton supporters who also have their country’s best interests in mind. Let’s all be worthy of our decisions.

How did you know this would play out like a movie?

About a year ago I started telling you in this blog that the Trump journey to the presidency would play out like a great movie script. And it did. Movies generally have three acts:

Act 1: The hero’s life abruptly changes.

Act 2: The hero encounters and solves one problem after another, in an entertaining fashion.

Act 3: The hero faces a seemingly insurmountable problem.

Finale: Against all odds, the hero succeeds.

The audience can’t always tell when the third act has arrived because all of the hero’s problems seem big until solved. I thought we reached the Third Act in Trump’s campaign about five different times since May. In retrospect, the real Third Act happened on election night when Trump was behind in nearly every poll. THAT is an insurmountable problem.

Then Trump won anyway. Like a movie.

How did I predict it would turn out so movie-perfect? I saw the following situation developing:

1. The social bullying coming from Clinton’s supporters guaranteed that lots of Trump supporters were in hiding. That created the potential for a surprise result, so long as the race was close.

2. Trump’s powers of persuasion are better than I have ever seen from a living human. That made it likely that the election would be close. And people generally vote for their party’s candidate, so that too promised a close election.

3. The mainstream media backed Clinton. That created a situation in which she was likely to be ahead at some point near the end of the election cycle.

4. The business model of the news industry guarantees lots of “scandals” on a regular schedule. Small things get inflated to big things, and I assumed there would be plenty of them. Trump has the skill to overcome medium-sized scandals and bumps in the road. That’s all you need for an entertaining Second Act.

5. Once I framed this election as a movie script, it primed you to see events that way. Our brains are movie-trained to recognize the three-act form. That’s why all movies use it.

6. Act One happened when Trump announced he was running. Act Two developed during the primaries and continued to the general election when Trump overcame one medium-sized problem after another. Act Three was defined by the Access Hollywood tape and Trump subsequently falling behind in the polls all the way to Election Day. The Finale was our collective discovery that Trump was right about the polls undercounting his support. It turns out he was Keyser Söze all along – and by that I mean smarter than you thought.

And that’s your movie.

I ask Trump supporters not to gloat too much. Be good to your fellow citizens. Be inclusive. Be useful. The country needs you at your best.

May be a good thing. Big business knows how to create jobs and wealth.

Look, I know your woman just lost and I would be upset if she had won, but you are already bashing things and he isn't even in office. Some hear that some guy worked at a high level at Goldman Sachs and your undercut the possible choice. You make it sound he knows nothing and a cashier who worked at Wal-Mart for 3 years would be a better pick. LOL.

Trump is a builder. It is who he is and what he does. He will get America working again, building roads, bridges, dams, pipelines, etc. That is why working people voted him in. They want to work and make good money.

Dems talk about representing the working class/ middle class, but the reality is they represent the handout crowd and elites who want to keep minorities in servitude. They just want votes and seek them out by paying off people with free, pass go cards.

The key to success in this country is being able to pass a urine test, not be a sack of rocks between the ears, show up on time, and give it honest effort. If you can do that, you may not ever become "rich", but you will be able to pay your way and have a nice life.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I haven't read through all these threads and reactions. I needed time off....I am not surprised by the results but, to be honest I am exhausted by it so, have even stepped away from social media etc.

A few observations....Brexit foreshadowed what happened last night but, many in America mocked or ridiculed it while in reality it was the writing on the wall.

Secondly, I think it is a wake up call to the Democrats. The ripping apart of the party we saw on the right was happening right in front of us and we ignored it. I got into many debates with the hardcore Bernie folks who viciously ripped HRC before he bowed out and then reluctantly supported her. It weakened her as a candidate and now many of those same people are in bogus mourning about the results.

The Nadar effect came into play....the 3rd Party in the swing states stopped HRC from winning a handful more states. Not sure if that would have made a difference but, it certainly didn't help.

We are an incredibly divided nation...race, class, gender etc.

Trump made many promises on his campaign....one of them was to hire a prosecutor and throw HRC in jail. I am pretty sure that was just for effect. I think many of the things he said were a con man talking to his base supporters and they bought it hook line and sinker. Manufacturing isn't returning...if it does, it wont hire 50,000+ people in NE Ohio. These things are now automated and robotic....they may hire 500 but, not on the scale he said. He wont bring all those jobs back from outsourcing and he most likely wont force Mexico to pay for a wall that he said over and over. So, ultimately...he probably will be as much of a liar as he accused HRC of being yet, people bought it.

40 and the others who called it....yep, you were correct. Hats off. I hope you get what you hope and I hope that he helps unite the United States. I had many, many conversations with young people today who feel very lost, vulnerable and scared. That is horrible discussion to have to have with our kids and our future. Many feel very let down by the adults around them.

I have had the opposite experience with our youth. I run a few websites that have a membership of about 30k young people and teenagers. These are online games that work a lot like social media. There was maybe all of two kids flipping out. Everybody else was mature and accepting. There were sides at times, but nobody was lost, vulnerable or scared.

That is nothing but liberal dramatics.

You must be talking only about white kids then. Because the kids I talked to were as diverse as this nation and their worries are real. To devalue them is doing them a disservice and only proving why so many teens distrust adults.

My kids are diverse with a large percentage of lgbt. They are a mature group for the most part. Sounds like you have coddled kids who have dramatic liberal parents whoare ruining their minds.

I would assume nothing rather I would listen to them. Doesn't matter if they are from Portland or Atlanta, right? So for you to write off my experiences today adds nothing to the table it just devalues them, and me, as a person.

But, I'm glad you still feel you need to get your jabs in, Eve. Goodnight.

We used factual data, but it turned out to be bunk due to not anticipating higher than expected turnout among white males.

Keep bashing us for using factual data to support what we believed, Eve. We keep going high, and you can drag yourself down to petty insults.
