I gotta admit it was pretty good. Not my best work...a little rushed...but not too bad.
I like that you took that in stride. Say what u want about me guys, and there's plenty too say ... *L* ... i dish out plenty, so I have no problems when it comes back my way .... never have been one to want it both ways ... unlike many of the IMO .... HOUSE OF CARDS posters ... And that was funny as hell ... I come here to have fun and to learn and talk football ... and that made me *LOL* ..

It feels like we're the 76ers. We fabricated a team with the intention of being incredibly terrible for two to three years before building it back up the "right way". Problem is, when the 76ers did that, they created a new low watermark for NBA play. The consistent losing, the way they lost, the lack of professional talent, having no reason to try hard or watch and having little faith in the future could make the plan backfire. Meaning, you're never getting out of the hole now because it's too deep. moreso after tanking for years and getting lottery picks, they still can't win..We've rebuilt before after changing staffs and it never looked this bad

He basically said there are a couple ways to rebuild. Using a house as a comparison, he likened it to remodeling versus tearing things down to the foundation. The way I kind of see it is: We set a bomb off in the living room of a house that already had a cracked foundation. Hopefully we contracted the right people to put up the replacement. Right now they are still pouring the new foundation. I'm not sure how I feel about the job so far, but they haven't even put the walls up yet (secondary?), let alone the roof (QB?). I'm not sure how I feel about the homeowner (Haslam) as a neighbor either, but if he stays on his own lawn we might be okay. While I'm not completely against eclectic architecture, hopefully they pick one style and stick with it. Rome wasn't built in a day....

We're going QB 1st overall.
We have no choice. HELL NO. There are other ways to build a team. Don't keep tossing rookie QBs into this mess. Who ,there is no franchise QB in this draft.

McCown looks like he is done.
We could take a developmental guy if we trade back up into the first with our high second, but I'm not taking any of these QBs with our regular 1st round picks. I'd much rather try to get Hooker (FS) and Peppers (Big Nickel/SS in base) and King (CB). Maybe Myles when/if we can't get Collins re-signed, though I like secondary first and maybe a pass rusher like Fields later.
Our safeties are bad, and our CBs are right there with them.
The refs were bad as usual.
Kessler wasn't good, but maybe try coaching him on the sideline instead of pulling him. McCown was worse. I like Hue as a coach at practice, but game days have been underwhelming. He needs to get better. It's easiest to fix things between seasons though.
Meder is a solid bottom of the roster, do things right, effort guy, and I like him as a person, but I wouldn't have him in the game on third and long with time running down.
Our OL looks really bad. Then decent for a short stretch. Then really bad again. They need to get consistent and gain chemistry. All the changes and injuries are killing us. Not sure how our protections are set up either. Might need to change something up.
There was a DeValve sighting. Hopefully he stays healthy and can get reps. Speed at TE can open up a lot for other people. I would take Garret #1 overall With the 2nd pick I would like the Wisconsin tackle or Robinson Alabama if available In the second I would like Joudan Lewis Cb Michigan or Sidney Jones Cb Washington I would take Mahomes/Webb/Falk in the 2nd (maybe the 2nd 1st rounder as long as it isn't #22) In the 3rd there is a FS out of UCONN that looks good - Obi Melifonwi I would also be happy with Adams S LSU Hooker S OSU Peppers Tim Williams Alabama Jonathon Allen Alabama We also need to find a center somewhere I'm in with Peppers and Hooker I want playmakers not three year projects

One positive, Jamie Collins is a keeper. Do you really think there is any way he would re-sign with us? I love the Browns and I wouldn't re-sign with them. You will have to overpay to keep Collins and I am fine with that

We should have traded Thomas , he does this 0 and 10 team any good. Thanks for your service play for a winner and a playoff team. If we are going to gut this team start at ground zero.

why this team holds on to Joe Thomas is beyond me. Suggs beat him like a drum last night Thomas isn't the guy that's gonna change this culture he's not a qb.

Wasn't Joe's best night ... but if you watch the QB also had no pocket presence either. Clear path to step up in the pocket. IMO, keeping JT is a good move. Would we really be able to draft a good player with the 2nd round pick his trade would provide? Plus, it's sweet to have him spend all 12 years (or whatever it will be) as a HOF in cleveland
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I think Hue is spending too much time trying new things rather than getting good at a few things.
I'm thinking that Hue is just trying to find anything we can do, period. As for Kessler and what should and shouldn't be said publicly - on one hand, I agree. On the other, we don't know how many private conversations have already been had. Perhaps Hue has already been in his ear and on his butt for weeks about some things and keeps seeing the same problems over and over? In such a case, you're more than green-lighted to try to embarrass him into paying attention. One thing is for sure - this team is beyond epically bad. The consistency of the 2nd Half meltdowns almost has the feel of it being deliberate. 90% of our starters would feel lucky and grateful to be backups on most any other roster.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I was in the chat room last Sunday ... 1/2 through the 3rd quarter I said ...
"I wonder what affect this will have on Collins's" .... and obviously its going to get worse as the season goes on ... i said from before game 1, our best shot at winning a game was in the 1st half ... right now .. the only game I feel we have any chance in is the Gnats game ... there not that good and there a HORRIBLE road team ...
And i don't just mean about staying here about Collins ... he has to be saying to himself "WTF did i do, i could be playing for a SB run with players that MAKE ME BETTER" ....
He may end up going back to NE for1/2 the money we offer him .. *L* ...
Mourg, i don't care how many times Hue got in his ear .. he's still a rookie QB that is obviously struggling with the "speed" of the game .. his skill set is what it is ...
Embarrassing him isn't going to make the game come quicker for him and its not going to make his arm stronger ...

They showed Collins late int he 4th, and he has this look on his face, this sad looking laugh, like "what the heck did I get myself into, and how could this team be this bad?"

Give me 4 more just like Joe and the Browns would have one of the best OLines in the NFL...old or not.

I noticed that the Ravens were timing our snap count perfectly. It might help if the Browns vary the snap count a bit, that does help your linemen get the jump on the defense.

It's hard to mix it up when you are struggling to simply get plays off before the play clock expires. As young as our team is, you'd think a back to the basics approach might work a little better. There seems to be some disconnect between building the foundation and Hue/Horton trying to add window dressing.

Joe's skills have not diminished. He is still the best LT in football. I'm just saying in 3 or 4 years when we are HOPEFULLY ready to compete Thomas will be ready to retire , so trade him now for a decent pick. He is good now but it does us no good we are 0 and 10 .

Are we down to this? knocking JT because Suggs got by him one time? Joe still is the best LT in the league.
A). he is still the man
B). he wants to be here.
we have a butt load of picks, we keep Joe and retire Joe as a Brown. No way would I ever trade him, unless he brings it up. imnho.

Agree, I want JT to retire a Brown. However, if I am the FO I talk with JT at the start of training camp and ask him if he wants to go through another season with the Browns or if he wants us to trade him to a super bowl contender. Then I respect his wishes. He has earned that.

Why at the start of training camp? I'd think much earlier in the year would be better for both he and the team.
Having said that, I don't want him traded for anything at any time.

The sooner Cam Erving is no longer in Browns uniform the better. He just doesn't belong in the NFL.

Erving would not be starting for any other NFL team...but he is the Browns starter because the front office spent a first round draft pick on him and the Boys believe he will grow into the job.
The Boys misjudged the importance of the center position as well as misjudging the individual they drafted to replace Alex Mack.
Milk Man...thanks for posting this...it might help some to understand why many are down on Erv...

"the boys" weren't in charge during Cam Erving being drafted. That was Farmer. Sashi was hired in Jan. 2013, to oversee salary cap, negotiations of player contracts and worked closely with general manager Ray Farmer.
The Alex Mack contract negotiations and the plan to address the center position was in Sashi's area of responsibility.
He may or may not have had a hand in drafting Erv, but he was involved in the way Mack's contract situation was handled.
