It would probably take quite a bit. Maybe they'd be interested in Collins.
Matt Castle 2.0
Or even worse, Ryan mallet
I have zero idea why people are so attracted to patriot cast off QB's.
No one saw Mallett (or Hoyer) play before they left.
Garoppolo was very good in his limited time playing this year. That's at least something.
If it were any other draft class, I would want to draft a QB and not trade for one. There are no franchise guys available in this draft (that we know of/that should be drafted #1, a Russell Wilson could always pop up).
Futhermore, if we draft a QB with 1/1 it means we are passing on an incredible defensive player (Garrett or Allen). I am not willing to do that when our defense is the worst in the league.
Garoppolo's biggest knock coming into the NFL 3 years ago was that he did not play against elite competition. Now that he's been a Patriot his biggest knock now, is that he might have played at too high of a competition level?
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Can't you find a bone headed INT from literally every QB ever drafted?
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Sure you can. However, I wouldn't call that INT "boneheaded." That is more of a fundamental mistake.
To me, boneheaded is throwing across the field while scrambling trying to make a play or heaving a shuffle pass before getting sacked and getting picked.
I'm not saying Watson cannot be a good QB. The video was worth noting.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
It's hard to see from that video, but it looks like they only had receivers to the left side of the field.
There were 2 receivers there, and the crosser was going to the left. I couldn't see any receivers to the right. Were there?
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
The problem I see with drafting a QB with the 1st overall pick is that, I see no one worth that high of a pick. take the BPA and grab QB when the value is there. I really hope it is not Watson I see nothing that warrants any 1st round pick, maybe a 2nd or 3rd...
I bet you're wondering the samething I did, why O' why didn't I take the...blue pill
If Watson is far and away the best QB coming out. that doesn't say much about the rest of 'em. I wouldn't be drafting one is this class. maybe trade one of our 1's for a 1 in 2018? idk but only if the value is right.
I bet you're wondering the samething I did, why O' why didn't I take the...blue pill
And he actually plays top notch competition and has been in the playoffs.
He's probabaly one of the better prospects coming out the last few years.

Swish, I have not watched all of his games yet. but I did watch 2 of them. And from those two games he did not play all that well imo. He made some poor throws and some poor reads. idk you guys prolly know more about him than I do. reminds me of a RGIII type player and we already have him. lol just my two cents my friend.

Pros: Watson has a live arm, nice deep ball, nice throwing motion Good size, good mobility, scrambling/playmaking ability Efficient passer for the most part, 3 years playing experience played against good comp
Cons: Risky thrower, too many picks, smallish frame spread QB,
Not really. to act like college QB's can't make mistakes if they are suppose to be rated as first rounders is off, by a lot.
Winston threw 18 INT's his last year at FSU. That didn't stop him from being drafted #2 and being a pretty good QB so far in the league.

This perception of being a spread QB is worse than actually being a spread QB. Plenty of QBs have had great success in the NFL.
You're making a false assumption here friend.
I was listing pros/cons on Watson as a prospect. Not making a commentary on whether or not I think a spread can suceed. I know spread QBs can have sucess.
But objectively speaking when looking at a QB prospects college offense playing in a pro-style is considered a plus and playing in a spread a negative.
Watson was something like 50 of 70 today with 3TD & 3 int. Clemson lost. Just saying
yea for 580 yards
so what are you implying? the only QB's who are first rounders aren't allowed to lose a couple of games in college?

I dunno why on earth they let the guy throw 70 times.
I mean in the 4th quarter they had the game. But the coach kept telling dude to throw it. It was like...it was bound to happen, him throwing another pick.

That's what I figured, just pointing it out for others.
Who he's already outperformed in college. And people swore up,and down they wanted Mariota on this board.

I watch a lot of college football and I haven't seen a qb [at this point] playing good enough to even be considered w/a top 5 pick.
I agree. Just because most might agree we need to draft a QB at the top of the draft, that doesn't mean there is one worth the pick. Just because we might draft one that high doesn't make them any better.
There isn't a QB I this draft that would impact this team more than Myles Garrett would. Slowing down great QBs is as important as having a great QB. You have to go with the flow and take what is given to you.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
I've seen 3 mocks for 2017 - one of them (CBS - Dane Brugler) has Watson going at #5 to the Jets, while the other two (both Walter Football) have him going either #34 to the Niners or #37 to the Jets. So, he *might* be there for our first 2nd round pick. That would let us take Garrett at 1-A and a CB at 1-B. Incidentally, Brugler / CBS had Kizer and Trubiskey going before Watson at #5.
It's early and things obviously change, but I too have seen Kizer and Trubisky go ahead of Watson in a number of mock drafts. When it all shakes out, it wouldn't shock me to see Trubisky as the first QB taken.
