Thanks Ed ... LOVE this stuff ...
My apologies for my lack of reading comprehension .. *L* .. my bad man ...
Agree with everything u said ...
I like your screen shots WAY more than your stats .... *L* ...
In that last screen shot (the one from behind) on the play were discussing .. u can see Cody's head is still looking to the left ... so by the time he sees the open receiver ... its to late cause it was time to start moving .. and your correct .. he could have stepped up to make the throw ... but we both know it would have been to late by then ... even that huge ass window would have been closed ..
When i refer to him not being comfie yet .. thats one of the things I meant ..
He's locking on more and staying with his primary and/or secondary to long and not going through his reads quick enough ...
Did i explain that right? .. do u understand what i mean? ..
If so , your thoughts ...

4. Hue said right away after the game (Friday Morning) that Kessler will remain our starter. Of course as a Coach you cannot say I messed up in putting in McCown. It was a decision he made and thought was correct at the time...too bad McCown could not execute. I think Hue has come about as close as you're gonna hear a coach admit fault. He's already admitting that going to McCown didn't work. But in the answer below he goes further: http://prod.www.browns.clubs.nfl.com/new...35-6e4caa9354c9 What I saw earlier were just some things of putting the ball in the proper spots where I wanted the ball to be, and it wasn’t there, but it wasn’t just Cody, let me say that. When I look back at it now and had a chance to watch the tape, it is an offensive unit issue.

All good, I could talk this stuff all day. for me everything has its place (including stats..) but I digress
I get what you're saying, and that's to be expected for young QBs. Although they've repped certain plays vs certain looks in practice they're not always gonna execute it perfectly in realtime/gametime. There's a development and growth.
I'm gonna talk big picture real quick before getting back to this play.... On the whole though I think Cody has done a good job in reading defenses and making smart decisions. He's very much a west coast offense type of QB in how he executes an offense. 2 classis WCO offense mantras are 'get what you can get as fast as you can get it' and 'you never go broke taking a profit'. I think its Cody's nature to take the open completion. And I like that about his game its allows him to be efficient and sustain drives...well up until the past couple games where it seems he's being forced to look downfield. And there are some plays/concepts in WCO that are read deep to short (Kyle Shanahan for example). But its gonna be a change to the way Cody naturally plays football. And that's also gonna create discomfort/indecision.
In the last screencap I think Cody does stay with his frontside progression a little long. But on the first read I think he wanted to throw it but say the CB sitting in Cover 2 which would haven't been good. And maybe with more experience he identifies that early and comes off it sooner. The backside TE still doesn't have his head turned around nor crossed the face of the S. So I think Cody still had time to step up and make the throw...but for me its still a questionable throw to make because the S has a chance to break downhill on the pass.

Also wanted to mention that there were a couple/few throws where I thought his arm strength caused inaccuracy.
-Already posted the comeback route he sailed high to Coleman -There was a comeback route to Pryor where he sprayed the ball wide (around half time)

He is not going to suddenly grow a new, stronger arm...can his anticipation and ball placement overcome his lack of arm strength?

I don't know. I'm just looking at him game to game and the sample size is small.
2 games ago he hits a deep comeback to Pryor while he was standing on the far hash marks. This game he sprays the same route from the near hash mark a shorter throw by almost 8ish yards.
Shrugs?
He's overthrown some deep sideline routes and been short on some.

To me it appears his arm gets tired as the game goes along.
Got to remember he had his college season then did a lot of throwing for the scouts, then did a lot of throwing preparing for the combine. Then did a lot of throwing in the private camps and in house camps. Then did a lot of throwing in our training camp. Then he injured his throwing shoulder.
But I notice he has more accuracy and zip in the beginning of games then it seems it tires.
The kid needs a nice rest after the season and reboot to be ready for 2017. He will give RG3 a run for his money as starter.
