CBS criticized for holding Trump clip demanding an end to any violence in his name
By Leora Arnowitz Published November 14, 2016 FoxNews.com

On Friday, CBS’ Lesley Stahl sat down with President-elect Donald Trump for a wide-ranging interview that covered myriad topics following his historic election win. The “60 Minutes” interview aired on Sunday, and clips promoting the exclusive were shared by CBS ahead of the program.

Some viewers, however, are questioning why CBS did not immediately post a clip in which Trump told any of his supporters who are reportedly harassing minorities to “stop it!”

Stahl told Trump some of his supporters are allegedly “harassing Latinos, Muslims.” Trump replied, “I am so saddened to hear that and I say stop it. If it helps, I will say this, and I will say right to the camera: stop it!”

Some voices in the Twitterverse, however, defended the network, saying Trump could have spoken out about the issue at any point.

Ahead of Sunday’s “60 Minutes” episode, the network shared a clip that focused on Trump's comments about ObamaCare, formally known as the Affordable Care Act.

CBS told FOX411 regarding the criticism: "This interview was full of newsworthy material and we released a quote on the issue that affects millions of Americans and that was his statement on ObamaCare."

"60 Minutes" also tweeted at least two other clips ahead of Sunday's airing. The clips, which were shared on Twitter, focused on Trump's conversations with Hillary and Bill Clinton after the election.

While I have been vocal myself that Trump needed to do/say something about all that garbage... it's not like CBS was his only outlet. the guy tweets about fat people at 3 in the morning, you think he could go on twitter and put an end to it at any time. Would reach more people than 60 minutes, too. Blaming CBS is kind of ridiculous here.

I'd say he was mostly correct, jfan.

I distinctly remember the look of shock on Dems' faces when they saw the 2010 mid-term results.

Looked a bit like a backfire to me...

You have your point but on the other hand we have shown we don't need them on board, we fixed this ourselves.

I have no reservations about a President Trump because he is already way ahead. He isn't them.

They didn't vote for the infrastructure" bill because it had very little actual spending on infrastructure.

The Republicans passed single year transportation bills, because they didn't want bills that were not paid for.

The Republican House and Senate passed a $305 billion transportation bill ....... way, way back in ..... December of 2015 ...... a 5 year deal that Obama signed. The bill is, by the way, actually paid for.

Ytown,
Congress was sent previous Transportation bills but they did not like how they were being paid for. The previous bills were taxing corporations, gas ..etc. Congress wanted it to come from other areas of the gov. (* this one still uses money from gas tax).

A big shortcoming in the bill, though, is how it's all financed. The main source of revenue for transportation is the trust fund, which comes mostly from the 18.4-cents-a-gallon gasoline tax. That tax hasn't been raised since 1993 even though transportation spending has increased. But raising the gas tax is viewed by many lawmakers as too politically risky.

To make up the shortfall, the bill uses about $70 billion in mostly budget gimmicks, including one that would move $53 billion from the Federal Reserve Bank's capital account to the general treasury. It's counted as new money on paper, but is actually just a transfer of funds from one government account to another, federal budget experts said.

Other items in the bill also don't include the means to pay for them, including more than $10 billion over five years for Amtrak and other rail programs, $12 billion for mass transit and $1 billion for vehicle safety programs. The money for those programs remains subject to annual spending decisions by Congress.

Among the bill's losers are large banks, which would receive lower dividends from the Federal Reserve, with the savings used for transportation programs. Banking officials complained that banks shouldn't be asked to foot the bill for highways and bridges.

The airline and cruise ship industries complained that their passengers are also being asked to pay for improvements unrelated to their travel. The bill ties customs fees to inflation and uses the increased revenue to offset the bill's cost. It also directs the sale of 66 millions of barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to raise $6.5 billion. The catch is the sales don't start until 2023 — three years after the transportation bill it helps pay for has expired.

He does want to open up non-existent libel laws so he can restrict the media. He's also appointed Theil to his transition team. Thiel earlier sued Gawker media via Hulk Hogan and a few others, effectively tying so much of Gawker's resources into legal battles, that the media giant folded.

It's only the beginning my friend. I'm sure the security minded republicans who want Hillary in jail for using a personal email server won't have any issues with Trump's kids having top secret clearances and tweeting out, and posting on facebook. rofl

I have to admit Swish, I'm not sure what his social stances are. My guess is that on a personal level he is farther left than 80% of the people that voted for him. He started out with some loud and nasty rhetoric on those things, he walked a lot of it back closer to the election.. and has walked it even farther back since the election. But he still comes out with a zinger every once in a while.

So you say you don't like his stance on Muslims, I would have to ask, which one?

The one where he want's them counted, marked, and tracked? The one where he wants them gone? The one where he wants those that are here to live as peaceful Americans, he just wants better control over allowing new refugees in? He has said all of those things at one time or another.

Let's look at his resume, I honestly didn't know that much about him...

Graduated from Virginia Tech
Masters from Georgetown in National Security Studies
MBA from Harvard with honors

Officer in the US Navy served as a Surface Warfare Officer and special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon

Worked at Goldman Sachs in Mergers and Acquisitions
Started his own investment firm.
Ran Biosphere 2 in the desert and changed if from a space exploration research facility to study pollution and global warming

Executive producer on a few Hollywood films
Served as CEO of Affinity Media which is an app and gaming developer

then for the last 4 years he has been at Breitbart..

So it is his time at Breitbart that is the reason he is not worthy of being in the White House?

I guess this goes to both you and Diam. lol

My point is how Trump seemed to say and do all of the things I hoped he would do after being elected. Toned down the rhetoric, called for unity and claimed he would represent all Americans. For many I'd say that was reassuring.

Then, after saying all of that, he appointed a man who did as much to divide and promote a very divisive message to the very same people Trump attacked in his rhetoric during the campaign.

The funny thing to me DC is you say you understood just how these groups felt, yet seem to be upholding a move that bolsters every fear these groups hold.

No matter what moves Trump makes, I honestly believe they will have very little if any impact on my personal life. I'm growing older and am a white American. I would just like to see him use some wisdom in his appointments that won't further serve to divide the people and instill even more fear and hate in the people he purposefully offended during his campaign.

You couldn't have done much more to further the divide than to appoint Steve Bannon.

Not really, Bannon has actually accomplished a few things. Higher education, military service, successful business career in a variety of areas.. Bill Ayers went from college to professional activist to fugitive.

It's the reason he will serve to only further the divide in our country. It's the reason why people will not be willing to buy what Trump is saying about trying to unify our nation.

He has every right to. I'm certainly not questioning that. I just don't believe it is anything but counter productive. That's all. I've looked into a lot of what he's said and allowed to be printed on Breitbart and it's certainly very divisive.

You just have to limit it to responding to those willing to have reasonable conversations.

Like I said, I don't know that much about him other than what I've read over the last couple days and I've tried to find stuff not slanted by our beloved media.. which is difficult... from what I can tell, he is a rather brash guy who says what's on his mind and leads to some of it being offensive to some.

What good does it do to sign a petition or call a state representative? He is an advisor, he doesn't have to be confirmed. There is literally nothing they can do about it.
