Pitt Off

25th in rushing (skewed a lil i know Bell was out the first 4)

4th in passing...(says it all).

Pitt Def

5th in Pass def

18th in run def.

Cleveland Off.

27th in Pass off.

22nd in run off.

Cleveland Def.

6th in pass def. (wow how many saw that one coming?)

2nd in run def. (again, wow how many saw that one too?)

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?a...e&Submit=Go

just by judging these simple stats...(i know stat boy). but we kinda match up well...this might be one we can steal...?

and by matching up well I mean we don't really run or throw the ball well right now. but we do apparently stop it just fine for the most part. according to the said stats...hey I'm trying to find a "W" here somewhere lol.

I think you have those defensive stats flipped.

They are 27th in pass defense...and 31st in rush defense
They are 31st in pts/gm at 30.1

We aren't a good match up with anybody except maybe San Fran and unfortunately, we don't play them.

This will be a good ol fashion butt kicking.

Vegas has it at +8.5 (crazy high for a home team but they are still giving Cleveland too much respect)

i'd say we'll struggle to stop them

Oddly enough, the Browns are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet, as they could still win the division. Highly improbable, but still possible. We'd need a lot of implosion of other teams for this to happen, but I'm still hopeful.

Cam Heyward Torn Pec-Link

Heyward tore his pectoral and is done for the season which should help some, but even if we can score they can most likely score more. Maybe we can keep the ball on the ground and shorten the game. If we defer and can double up around halftime, we might have a chance.

Here's hoping Kessler and James Harrison don't meet close up because that would be the last nail in the coffin of this season if we aren't already buried and scratching at the inside.

I think the Steelers come in and crush the Browns this week. A lot of people are ragging on them, but they took Dallas to the wire and that offense can score w/a healthy Ben.

I think the closest part of this game will end up being who has more fans in the stadium---the Steelers or the Browns?

I'm not sure this has been discussed on this board....

I heard the criticism for Tomlin going for 2..but has anyone mention his management of the game down the stretch?

I think it was brilliant game management, especially allowing the Cowboys to score..TWICE.

He realized their real enemy was the clock.
He also realized their only chance to win was to get the ball back.
His plan worked out perfect.
They allowed the Cowboys to score quickly giving them enough time to get the ball back themselves and score.

Then...after his own defense collapsed, instead of allowing the Cowboys to kick a FG with no time left he allowed the Cowboys to score again because again the enemy was the CLOCK and with Zeke scoring quickly they got the ball back and had a miracle chance to win.

Imho it shows an advanced understanding of game theory.

I know I know, any given Sunday. But, does anyone actually think we have a chance to win this game?

If Hue is going to go all in to win one game this season, this is the game.

Agreed.
Second question:

Will Horton be there?

Not sure i u read it somewhere or thats just your thoughts ..

They didn't let him score EITHER TIME IMO .. if he did .. he's a worse coach than i think ... and i think he STINKS!!!

And if u think letting a team score with 9 seconds left when YOUR WINNING was smart ,,, all i can say is

WOW ....

Much better shot of having a bad snap or blocking it or even Bailey missing it than scoring a TD with them kicking off with 9 secs ...

Like i said .. if u think thats a great understanding of game theory ...

Yep, at least that.

I can't even get myself to write a "who will win?" thread. The Browns beating the Steelers just seems like wishful thinking. I guess that's all we got to go on by now.

P.S. It would be a super-duper-sweet win though! fingerscrossed

Antonio Brown and Eli Rogers will run slant routes until the cows come home.

Le'Veon Bell will likely have a field day catching passes out of the backfield and racking up a 100+ yard day on the ground.

This will be like home game for the Steelers and they are still fighting for their playoff lives.

I expect a decimation of the Browns.

Lol, i'm not surprised you don't get it.
Even after it worked perfectly just series before.

Lol, the odds of a fumbled snap.

But i guess why bother having an actual discussion on game theory.

The steelers had the lead with 42 seconds left in the game.

So, you're saying they let dallas go down the field, and score the go ahead touchdown, was a good clock management thing?

Why not play defense and stop dallas?

Or, why, if you think it was a conscientious decision on the steelers part, why not let dallas score on the first play they had, with 42 seconds left? That would've left the steelers at least 30 seconds or so, as opposed to 9 seconds.

Lol, whenever someone on an internet message board writes....'so, you're saying...' you know they're about to get the content of your statement wrong. If you wanted to get it right you could just quote what I actually wrote...anyhow

No. I am not saying they let Dallas march down the field on purpose. They were trying to stop them UNTIL they Dallas got in FG range and could milk the clock then kick thus ending the game on that possession.

Options:

A: Dallas milks the clock and you take your chances win or lose on their kick never touching the ball again on offense

B: concede the TD but still have time on clock ensuring you have time to win/lose the game on your terms with your offense (which is one of the best in the NFL)

The only real question that remains to be answered is when Ray Horton is going to be fired. I think that guy is a freaking joke.

9 seconds. 9 seconds. And if you watch the play, the steelers WERE playing hard d.

Now, the previous dallas series, I can see what you were implying as far as clock management. I disagree with you, but I can see what you were saying.

But, on the series in question, they were playing hard d, and the o line and zeke handed it to them.
There are/were no "kudos" to be given for clock management on the last dallas possession.

With nine seconds left I pray they botch the snap or we get a blocked kick, as opposed to LETTING them score and having a few seconds left to get a TD after the kickoff.
What I just proposed is not genius game management theory, it's common sense.

let it go ... he doesn't understand the concept of 9 seconds ...

He thinks them scoring a TD from 75 yards away in 9 SECONDS was better than them stopping Dallas and the FG being blocked or missed ..

It may be the dumbest thing i've ever read on this board .. and thats a pretty low board ..

Pitt ran blitzed to try and get him for a loss to make the FG try longer ...... and got caught with no one in the middle ..

Like i said ....

WOW

A very dangerous game for the Steelers. They've lost 4 straight, and their defense doesn't look very good at all. Also Cam Heyward, their best defensive player, is out for the season. I think this will be a very close game, with the Steelers winning in the end (at least I hope so).

Hi sk8ter;
The only dangerous thing about this game for Pittsburgh is the celebratory plane ride home.

Hi lampdogg smile

they travel by bus to Cleveland, since it's such a short trip. I'm still not feeling very good about this game.

mom, i'll let you be rest assured we can't come within 20 points (when it counts). Steelers will ROMP us
