But you dragged me into this by talking about a Trump supporter who wants to open internment camps.

Well so what?

I am a Trump supporter who thinks THAT Trump supporter is a nut!

My wife is a Trump supporter who is watching "Big Bang Theory" and thinks we are all nuts.

I feel less secure, too.
It's a natural reaction to the news we're all hearing.

Over the years, I've given a pretty good effort here to be cordial, respectful... friendly, even. But I've always tried to be candid, as well. I've gone to great lengths to talk openly about race issues through my own personal life and observations, because my story provides the background to explain my views. I never wanted anyone at DT'ers to read one of my opinion posts, and think that I was simply spouting some party line from the 'us v. them playbook.'

Look... I know that everyone has a story, and that someone else might see life differently, but that's why I take the risk to put myself out there. There's always a chance that I open myself for ridicule or downright hostility. It's never really happened to me here, but it's a risk nonetheless. There really are people out there who have an active hatred for me, simply because I'm not like them. People who'd feel no guilt whatsoever if they brought harm to me. People who feel it's their duty to rid this country of people like me.

Seriously, Diam- that's some truly scary [ * ].

This post isn't about politics, sides, or battles of wit. This is a serious post about what's happening in my life. I'm really edgy about what's been happening these last 8 days. America hasn't looked like this in decades. Hell, I don't know if America ever looked like this before. All I can really do is be honest and tell you this:

I really do feel less safe now than I did 2 weeks ago.
-And it really sucks.

That's because you left the browser window open, and she had a chance to actually read this stuff. Face it- your cover's blown. Slick.

If I may play a little Devils naughtydevil advocate here?

Did it ever occur to anyone that those on the Left who tried so hard to link Trump to the KKK are actually the ones who have made them relevant again? They are the only ones who ever brought them up and put them in the spotlight. The in-the-tank-for-Hillary media continually gave the KKK more attention and coverage than they have had in the last 2 decades combined.

I and pretty much everyone I know have been perfectly content to have the KKK relegated to a fringe bunch of idiots with no relevance. We're not the ones who let that genie out of the bottle.

You say that as if the alt-right is mainstream my friend lol

What I object to is now liberals are trying to impose this new standard that says every Trump voter has to take ownership of the actions and words of other Trump voters.

I have no such obligation. And why should I? When one doesn't pick and choose the message and looks at a group like BLM as the organization, the things they seriously propose, the manufacturing of lies and mischaracterization of events that have directly led to massive property damage and lives lost... it is a hate group on par with the KKK. The only difference is the skin tone and they don't wear bed linens. The most I've ever heard in terms of accountability for the worst aspects of BLM was: "Well, I agree with their message, I just don't agree with their methods". I always felt that was a cop out (no pun intended lol). Literally the majority of incidents that BLM has put forth as examples of police abuse turned out to be in fact, not. To this date I have yet to hear a single person who identifies as liberal or even partial to their message demand BLM publicly retract and apologize for even a single issue. Not once.

So as far as I'm concerned that is the established standard by which we hold "our own" accountable.

Take a step back and you'll see that the attitudes ranging from hateful to indifference of those on the Right are a mirror image of the last several years of the attitudes from the Left.

A point worth consideration. You make a plausible point as to (shared) causation.

Knowing where it came from doesn't make me feel any more secure.

And that's part of the irony here: in all my backstories, the goal was never to point personal fingers or try to evoke a sense of guilt. Namely, it was intended to tell folks how this feature of America's social construct has effected my life. Give a perspective that most DT'ers might not have known or were able to see.

That's still what I'm doing now.

I've gotten a few PM's from Dawgs thanking me for my effort, and that it's made them think a little. Those PM's always feel pretty good. It means I haven't wasted my time, you know?

How about you? Do you feel a little more 'edge' these days? I would think this has to be impacting your job at least a little.

So, mortgage rates are rising. It's at 4.02 average.

Umm, you do realize that the job report and the market increase and decreases are separate, right?

Since Trump was elected president, investors have flooded the stock market and pulled out of the bond markets. Treasury yields have skyrocketed, rising 44 basis points in the past week to their highest level since January. The yield on a 10-year bond went from 1.79 percent on Nov. 4 to 2.23 percent on Monday.

The movement of the 10-year Treasury bond is one of the best indicators of whether mortgage rates will rise or fall. When yields go up, mortgage rates tend to follow.

Higher home loan rates may put a damper on the housing recovery. With lack of inventory driving up home prices in some markets, higher rates will make housing less affordable. However, if the economy gets a boost and wages grow under Trump, higher rates may not matter as much.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wher...-trump-victory/

so I'm not sure why you're trying to relate the two as one in the same.

But it's not surprising. You make ridiculous post all the time.

Imagine that, I've already gone over my allotted time responding to you. Have a good day.

It's funny how I give you a direct response, and yet somehow you claim it isn't just because you don't like the answer.

You didn't call out anything.

The only person deflecting is you. And caught in the cookie jar? Honesty man what the hell is your problem, and what the hell are you talking about.

And out of my league when it comes to money?

Do you want to start comparing portfolio's and savings accounts?

I'll screen shot my bank accounts if you screen shot yours. I'll screen shot my portfolios if you screen shot yours.

Deal? I'm out of my league, right? Well, prove it. Let's go. Show me what you got.

When it comes to anything market related, I recommend waiting a year. A new president always makes it volatile. We won't learn anything in the early stages.

I was looking at the rates prior to the election and some of the policies were already leaning toward a slight increase.

I simply posted the new rates, and somebody got #triggered.

However, with government spending the bonds will continue to rise, so hopefully it levels off soon.

In markets where people have money it might not matter THAT much. However in a place like cleveland where the housing market is still trash, if the rates continue to rise, then an already struggling market is gonna take a big hit.

What's sad is that the market is based off predictions and such so people looking to buy a home are already complaining about the rates on social media. Let's hope this doesn't turn into anything in the long run.

I'm sure they will still vote republican.

If people didn't learn their lesson the first time, they won't the second.

Remember, the economy was recovering "too slowly". Seems like nobody cared that we were recovering, they cared about how fast it was.

So if we end up in another 08 situation, well, in another 8 or so years they will vote for the same people anyway.

The only positive thing I can say about trump so far is he has the Saudi's pissed off about the possibility of ending oil dependency with them.

Whether or not that actually happens, we will see.

The Bond market has been in bubble territory for the longest time so money coming out of Bonds is releasing air before the bubble bursts.

The Trump election has driven the Stock Market up due to him being seen as a pro growth President. Regulations will be adjusted and taxes cut to help businesses grow and hire.

I agree with candy this will be a choppy year in the markets as the world sees how Trump will lead.

The Fed will raise rates as the economy grows. This is a good sign as it shows health in the economy.

It's gonna be hard to justify resigning rates when the housing market is still terrible in a lot of places though.

Especially with a bubble that's had to be treated carefully or it will pop.

And again, tax cuts doesn't determine hiring. Supply and demand does.

It doesn't matter how much you give me in tax cuts. If I only require 100 workers to produce the current demand, then I'm not gonna hire anymore people just because somebody lowered my taxes.

That same flawed logic is part of a very long list of what got us into this mess in this first place.

Cut taxes to my business and it gives me money to spend on improvements and growth, I can now buy that new machine I have been needing and have the money to hire people to run it.

Any source of income coming into a business creates growth.

Add in the cutting of red tape by the government and growth will naturally follow.

If you needed the tax cuts in order to make improvements, then something tells me you wasn't managing your money correctly.

Also, it depends on who is getting the tax cut.

Tax cuts for middle class and poor might(key word: might) help growth, but we've already seen it doesn't work in practice with regards to the rich and major corporations.

Ya know, the ones who are about to receive the biggest cuts from Trump.

We have already seen that tax cuts work in theory, yet don't work all that well in reality.

There's multiple sources on that as well. Here's one:

http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpoliti...row-the-economy

There's a reason why trickledown economics gets blasted all the time. It just hasn't worked.

Well all I can say at this point is we will watch how Trump and the Congress work this.

I expect tax cuts.
Repatriation of overseas dollars
Deregulation
Relaxing of environmental laws
Adjustments to Dodd/Frank
and a slew of other things to come.

The price of precious metals has been down since the election. Gold is around $1200, silver $16.70. If you've got the cash buy buy buy.

most likely somebody who is left or far left is gonna come out of the Democratic Primary.

I look forward to the bernie bro's convincing me that i need to vote for their far left candidate.
