For us in the Midwest. I've traveled all over the country for work and always like the blank stares I get when I ask what kind of pop they have. In Virginia it's soda, in Atlanta it's Coke no matter what you are ordering, and soda in most other parts of the country I've been to. It's kinda like no one from outside the midwest (and Canada) very few know how to play Euchre, or even heard of it.

Yes I'm the south everything is coke. It's so infuriating sometimes.

I have my wife saying pop. She's fresh so I was able to assimilate her into mid west lingo

You're absolutely correct.

If people suggest otherwise ask them is it a pop bottle or a soda bottle? Is it a pop bottle rocket or a soda bottle rocket?

LOL.

Yesterday, my son had surgery to have a portal put in for his chemo treatments and afterwards, one of the nurses asked if he wanted anything to drink.

He said: "I'll have a pop, please."

She looked at him like he was crazy and said: "Okay, where are y'all from?"

It was pretty funny.

Interesting that you've never heard it referred to as soda pop. Soda pop reminds me of one of the best video games of my childhood.

I find the people that refer to it as a soft drink are the real oddballs.

Don't most people specify the exact drink they want anyway? I never drink pop, but If I were ordering I'd say, I'll have a Sprite, Coke, Dr Pepper, Mt. Dew etc..

When i went to a restaurant in Tennessee, many years ago, I sat down with a menu, and noticed that they served Pepsi products.

The waitress came over and asked me what kind of Coke I wanted. I replied that I thought that they served Pepsi, and she said that they did, and then asked me again what kind of Coke I wanted. crazy

It would have irritated me even more if she hadn't had the most charming and adorable Southern accent ...... but a woman with a Southern accent just makes me melt.

I think I had to drink it when I has a kid home sick from school.

Definitely an acquired taste.

At Pop's Soda Ranch, just northeast of Oklahoma City on Route 66, where they have the worlds largest pop bottle, they offer 700 flavors of soda.

I worked at Walt Disney World for 10 months, and immediately I got laughed at for using the word "pop". I got assimilated into it, and I ended up saying soda. I use both words at regular intervals.

Sorry Swish, I play for both teams.
