What did he mean by "tipping" patterns? He allows the DB an opportunity to know where he is going , before he does it

Cam still struggles reading coverages post-snap, so you might wanna cool the haughty act. If the Browns could have Cam Newton, in trade for our first ,first rounder next season, would you make that trade? I would. I'd trade our next ten first round picks. And the Panthers would still say no.

He struggles w/his reads a bit and holds the ball too long, but he is a dynamic player who has had real success in this league and has the potential to get even better.

What did he mean by "tipping" patterns? WRs, like QBs, can "tip" routes w/their eyes and shoulder placement. To me, running a route is like walking through the hood. Eyes forward and glazed. No emotion, no looking left or right. Shoulders squared.

Switzer out of UNC is going to be the next Cobb/Welker. His moves are incredible and he squirms out of tackles. Good route runner too.

j/c: Matt Miller of Bleacher Report's Predictions: 1. Cleveland Browns The Pick: DL Jonathan Allen, Alabama Where do we go from here? The Cleveland Browns have a roster full of young talent—some developing, some not and a lot of it unproven—which means they could go in any direction at the top of Round 1. The natural assumption is that the Browns would draft a quarterback—but not this year. Not yet, anyway, when there isn't a clear-cut No. 1 passer on the board. Mitch Trubisky may become that guy for me with more film study, but four months out he doesn't look ready to be a No. 1 pick. That leaves two blue-chip defenders, both from the SEC, for Cleveland to choose from: Myles Garrett and Jonathan Allen. Garrett is my top-ranked player, but as an edge-rusher he's more in line with the players the Browns drafted last year (Emmanuel Ogbah and Carl Nassib), whereas Allen is more of a natural rusher from the 5-technique in a 3-4 defense with the versatility to play defensive end or defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme. That versatility and the better fit make him the pick at No. 1 overall. Because Garrett and Allen are so closely graded, the scheme fit pushes the latter over the top. 12. Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia) The Pick: CB Quincy Wilson, Florida A cornerback over a quarterback? That may seem ridiculous, but the last thing the Cleveland Browns can do is draft a quarterback too soon. Some will argue that drafting Deshaun Watson or Brad Kaaya here would be the smartest move—get as much talent at quarterback as possible and let them fight it out—but building a monster defense first and letting Josh McCown and Cody Kessler compete for the job in 2017 will give the Browns a better roster moving forward. We're seeing great defenses carry average offenses across the league right now (hello, Denver), and while Cleveland has a gigantic need at quarterback, the NFL draft is about marrying needs and value. The Browns have two picks in the second round to add a young developmental quarterback. With pick No. 13, the allure of shutdown cornerback Quincy Wilson is too great to pass on. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/26786...ictions/page/14
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Here are CBS's most recent predictions from Rob Rang and Dane Brugler. Personally, I think Brugler is better and have considered buying the draft guide that he publishes every year and hundreds of players. Rob Rang 1. Mitch Trubisky, QB 16. Zach Cunningham, ILB Dane Brugler 1. Myles Garrett, DE 16. Sidney Jones, CB They update it weekly. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock-draft

I agree with these picks. The D players are too good to pass up. Who knows, one of the qb's may drop to the beginning of the 2nd rd.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report's Predictions: I think that would be pretty darn good. I think we need a dominant guy on the defensive front and our secondary certainly needs upgrading.

Here are CBS's most recent predictions from Rob Rang and Dane Brugler. I don't really follow mock drafts and don't place too much importance on them, but as far as player evaluations go: Rang and Brugler are the best. I almost always agree w/their takes. Rang is very accurate w/his profiles. Again, I am not talking about their mocks, but their player profiles.

I often wrestle with what position would be the greatest benefit to the team and my thoughts move to defense.
I thought this was a QB thread and didn't want to veer off topic but it looks like that ship has sailed.
Anyhow I think the greatest impact would be to land a disruptive player in the base 34 and 4 man line OR a number 1 corner.
From what I'm hearing reading Allen might be that guy but I wonder if there is worthy player at CB?

Brugler has been really good for a while now. He had Gilbert pretty much pegged from the beginning if I remember correctly.
Plus, hes a local guy, that always helps.

No corner is going 1 overall. Will not happen, even in this class.
Allen and Garrett are really too close to call. IMO, both will be day one impact players.

I think Allen would do wonders for our defense. Especially against the run.
I would actually draft two 3-4 DE's

IMO cbs is always out in left field with their prediction and Rob Rang is highly overrated as an analyst, again imo.
In his defense, he did predict The 1st pick correctly last year, but was it the correct selection in hind sight? I think Wentz will play at a high level for many years *sigh*.

I loved Goff before the draft. He played poorly in his rookie season. As of right now I would take Wentz over him. (Goff also played for a team coached by Jeff Fisher and his horrible offensive coaching staff, with no offensive line and no real weapons.) As with all rookies, playing in the NFL is hard and it takes some time to figure out.

I would actually draft two 3-4 DE's I'll settle for one and a healthy Bryant back. I'M very high on Montravious Adams for a 5-tech.

I was never high on Goff for the 2nd selection, but wasn't he the one all of the expert analist, stating that he was more pro ready? Which I failed to see coming from a shotgun offence. I wish Goff great success, but I'll be surprised if Wentz doesn't see a hand full of probowls before it's said and done.

These are the options I see and the order that makes some sense: The stated goal a quarterback and pass rusher.
Option #1 - Make the trade for Garoppolo and draft Garrett. This to me makes the most sense with the least risk.
Option #2 - Draft Trubisky at number one and then take Soloman Thomas. Trubisky is not worthy of being number one, but the position rules and he will not be there at 12. Solomon Thomas is a stud.
Option #3 - Draft Garrett number one then take Kizer at 12. Not sure Kizer will be there but he might be. There is risk with Kizer but also potential. If he is gone I would consider Watson but I would not take him over BPA.
There are no easy answers for quarterback. Garoppolo in my mind involves the least risk. He can start right away. He makes the first pick simple BPA. Garrett is a pass rusher with a great tool box. You come away with your starter at quarterback and a pass rusher who will need to be reckoned with.

One AFC college scouting director told me that DeShaun Watson is at least a year away from being able to run an NFL offense, and DeShone Kizer is two years away. Ex-Texas Tech teammates Patrick Mahomes and Davis Webb (who transferred to Cal) have talent, but both come from schemes that complicate their NFL transition. (Think Jared Goff.)
You’ll hear this is a bad quarterback draft. I’ve heard it from some people, and I’ve heard from others that it’s not as terrible as advertised. “It’s a good quarterback class,” said our NFC exec. “Realistically, all five of those guys go in the first two rounds.”
If that happens, it wouldn’t exactly be unprecedented, but that doesn’t happen every year. There have been five occasions (2014, ’12, ’11, ’07, ’06) since 2000 where five quarterbacks went inside the first two rounds, and only one (2011) where the number was higher than that. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/02/10/nfl-draft-depth-talent-prospects-notebook

I don't think it's necessarily a bad class. There just isn't a clear stud and there's more raw or inexperience than usual. I'm sure at least 1 or 2 will come out of it. Problem is there are so many flags all around no one knows who they'll be.

Same. I'm a big fan of jimmy and tyrod so I will support either. Jimmy's uncertainty and price make them equal bargains in my mind. In my perfect world I'd love to cut RG, draft mahomes and go into 2017 with Tyrod, Cody, mahomes and hogan. Barring Jimmy becoming arodg I think that's the best way to solidy the potion for now and if we're lucky later.

Thomas won't likely be there at 12. Option #4 (my option #1) - Draft Garrett, Draft next BPA (Adams, Hooker, Foster, Trubisky, Williams, Cook, Fournette, or Lattimore) Stay faithful to that list, in that order. At #33 take BPA, Jones, McCaffrey, Robinson. Assuming no Trubisky, take Mahomes. even if it involves a trade up. JMHO - I know we need one desperately, but I think it's the wrong year to panic draft a QB. This I like: Round 1 Pick 1: Myles Garrett, DE/OLB Round 1 Pick 12: Jamal Adams, SS Round 2 Pick 1: Cam Robinson, OT Round 2 Pick 20: Patrick Mahomes, QB

HACK I am one of the ones here that really wants to bring in Jimmy, but I am really not on board with the #12. I would do #33 and something, or possibly the #12 in a swap with NE's #32. But, if I was going to spend #12 on a QB, it would be Jimmy. I do not think any QB in the draft is worth the #12.

I'm not going to pretend to know enough to answer your question. Jimmy G. brings a lot to the table in being coached for three years in the NFL. He has the arm to make all of the throws, seems to go through his progressions pretty well and seems to be able to read the D post snap.
Those are the key ingredients in a franchise QB. So it all boils down to this. If our FO actually feels Jimmy G. is a franchise QB, the #12 would be a bargain. If they feel there are more questions than answers with Jimmy G. #12 is too much to pay.
It's all going to be about their evaluation of the player.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I'm ok with using 12 but I don't think another team will offer their no1 so 33 and change should suffice. If they really believe in Jimmy go for it but I'm perfectly ok with Tyrod for free.

I'm pretty sure Kyle Shanahan will at the very least offer #2 for Jimmy G and #32. If they cut Kaepernick, they will have zero quarterbacks under contract (that are currently on the team.) I do not know Kyle Shanahan, but I do know that he was rumored to have liked Garroppolo when he was here with the team. And if we had drafted him, he probably would still be our OC, if not head coach.

I'm 100% against giving up our #12 for Garrapolo. While he may be a better bet than any of the draftable QBs, we will have to sign him to a monster deal based on the strength of watching him play in what....3 games?
Let's learn from the Osweiler debaucle. Hell, this would be worse as we'd be giving up a first rounder as well.
Just no....

With Jimmy, he's had 3 years to get ready for his chance. If he doesn't prove to be the guy in 2017, there is nothing stopping the Browns from going after Darnold (or whomever they deem the best QB) in the 2018 draft. If he proves to be the guy, pay the man. If he doesn't, sign him to a reasonable contract or let him walk.

Jimmy is on average in the consensus worth the 16th pick(hypothetical guess). Some are ok with more, most are ok with 16 type value and some are not. That accounts for qb inflation and everything. Would you trade no2 for 16 and 32? I think San fran would be getting robbed. For San fran to offer 2 with only 32 in return they would have to value Jimmy as a top 5 or 6 Pick. Bill would turn right around and trade down and probably end up with 4 1sts just from 32 and Jimmy lol Now to swap 12 for 32 Jimmy would be valued right around that 16 to 20 range. That seems probable. Or just 2 2nds. But I suppose probable when discussing qb trades is wasting my time.
