good news for that area. hopefully other businesses will follow suit
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

As Clem and PDX are looking under their beds for Nazi's and as Swish has expressed his fears of this new administration, I am beginning to notice something new happening with our new leadership in Washington. Something far more sinister than Nazi's.
I see a future President taking time from an overwhelming schedule of setting up his government to negotiate for 1000 jobs in Indiana. I see two arch enemies dining together as Trump and Mitt are discussing the job of Secretary of State, putting their differences aside and working together for the future of America.
How can these two men who have said the most awful things about each other during the campaign even consider giving each other the time of day?
Is this the beginning of a new and sinister view that perhaps America is more important than how we feel about each other? Is it showing us a new way of true inclusiveness in the coming together of all citizens, putting our differences aside while the more important issue of America's interests take center stage?
Unheard of!!! Insane!!! Frightening!!!
Swish, now I am frightened, I may need you to hold me.

This is #2 in the KEEP JOBS IN AMERICA basket ... this is a much better basket than the "deplorable one" Hillary would be carrying around with her ,... *L* ... and he's not even a month in ...
Him and Ford decided to keep the manufacturing of one of the small SUV models production in the US .. I expect to hear more good news from Ford and all the US auto makers at some point ... I'm hoping this is just a ripple in the water of what he's about to do ...
I'm hoping this deal is the result of Trump's acumen and clout rather than simply a buy out. (for instance, $1 Billion dollars in "incentives" for Carrier.)
But read the fine print, what did he have to give up to get them to stay. Companies are self serving animals. They have share holders that they have to respond to.
I guess the announcement is coming either today or tomorrow which will outline the deal that Trump cut with them.
But, given all of that, keeping jobs in the US is paramount

Help me out here.. Trump isn't the President yet and therefore has no real authority to finalize any deals. And what deals can he just unilaterally make?

Since it's Indiana maybe it was through the state where Pence can still make deals?

David Faber Verified account @davidfaber Deal on keeping roughly 1000 Carrier jobs in Indiana includes "small" incentive from state- sources.More details expected tomorrow.
This is a good win for Trump. But the problem is that Trump and his administration simply cant go around negotiating with every single company who wants out or to outsource overseas. Its not practical. They will have to pass some legislation that make it compelling to stay and hire Americans. So that ALL companies want to stay.
It's good that he's at least trying with the major corporations at least.
But being able to make companies stay in America is one thing.
Bringing the jobs back?? That's what I want to see. Cause that's what he promised.

40, that last comment really cracked me up. I laughed out loud. Thanks!

I agree, this is a nice token victory and a promising start but it's going to take some sweeping changes to have a bigger impact. And I'm not sure what those changes are..
Yep. Not a lot of us do. I certainly am somewhat lost on what those changes are, too.
But I guess that's why we pay them the big bucks.

Well, Trump has been pretty successful in real estate and hospitality, real estate and hospitality are not manufacturing... Real estate and hospitality jobs are not exportable, manufacturing jobs are... I hope Trump gets solid input from people with practical manufacturing experience and not just the giants like Apple, but the smaller guys too....

Well, that's another good question. Is this just another feel good story?
Trump reminds me of the salesman that tells his future wife how great things are going to be, then he doesn't deliver.
Like I said, I'll eat crow if I'm wrong. I just don't think I am.

Well he has products that have his name on it. Suits, ties, shirts etc. He (or his people)sent the manufacturing off shore.
There is a company right here in NE Ohio that could manufacture all of those things. Probably add some jobs in NE Ohio. But he chose to send them off shore.
He could start with bringing those jobs here.

Why do u think he doesn't manufacture those products here? ...
Because he can pay foreign workers pennies on the dollar. No unions fighting for fair wages. So, my answer is, because he can't exploit American workers.
Nice start for a higher tax burden for the middle class.
Carrier is still moving the bulk of their mfg to Mexico. All this does is allow Carrier to get huge tax breaks for keeping a business front, a few execs, and some engineering in the Indiana HQ. Pretty sweet deal. Carrier is still allowed to move the bulk of their MFG to Mexico while getting corporate welfare from the State of Indiana at the cost of the middle class tax payers who'll have to foot the bill once again. The beat goes on.

He could and he should. I know he has turned over control of his company to his kids so I guess "technically" it's not up to him any more. But it was up to him before....

Your a school teacher, correct?
Nope. I'm a hospice nurse. Hospice is a Medicare benefit we all receive at the end of our lives. Truth be told many of us in the industry are fearful for our jobs sinceTrump won. We know cuts are coming.

My wife is an RN/CNN, she did Hospice for a number of years. She's moved on to senior care at a Methodist retirement center still specializing in nephrology. At least around here I don't know of any nurses concerned with getting or keeping a job.
My hat is off to you, it takes a very special kind of person to provide Hospice care.
