And the one, single most driver that the word "cheater" was attatched to because of his driving style, was Dale Sr.
Some of those who "hate to hear" the term NOW,sure didn't have any problem tossing that term around THEN.
DW beat Sr more times than he lost to him, so I don't think that's the case....

Yeah, it's delusional to see that the fenders were altered. As always, if Gordon is involved, you can't see the truth. "Same as always".

I'd be curious as to why JJ's and Gordo's fenders were altered but no one elses on the "team" was.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it? It does me.

As shep said, they're prepared in different shops....with the 48 and 24 getting the most "help", obviously.

Actually, it's the same thing.
Actually it's not. (and why do I feel like I'm pounding my head against a brick wall???)
The 8 team participated in the entire race with illegal parts.
The 24 and the 48 teams did not.....
And if you read the articles about it Rick Hendrick is not happy because he feels it is a grey area with the car of tomorrow and the rules.
Quote:
I know you'll disagree with it because it'd Gordon and that's ok.
No, I disagree with it because of what the issue is. It wouldn't matter it if was Kenseth, or Stewart or Kyle Petty. If there is an area where the rule is not clear, then you would have to allow it to pass as an issue of ignorance and not intended cheating.
They're winning nearly every week, why would they have to cheat???
Shepdawg I don't post here often and I don't want to offend anyone but way to check your facts there buddy. If you would simply run a google search for Earnhardt Jr Darlington you will see that his infraction was in inspection as well and he did not race with illegal brackets.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor/nascar/2007-05-12-darlington-postponed_N.htm
There is a link to the first story that pops up. The only thing that you could have a bone to pick about is that Junior got to keep his 21st starting position. They fixed the car and passed inspection before the race just as the 24 and 48 did. I think they parked the 24 and 48 to further impact upon the teams that they are not going to tolerate any attempts to gain an unfair advantage with the COT. The fines and suspensions should be consistent with what the 8 team received. Anything less and they will be playing favorites in my eyes. If this were Kenseth or Kahne would you be complaining?
I am sure that you will take offense to this but facts are facts. Before going on a rant next time how about doing a little research.
Thats why I love the internet, idiots sitting behind their computer screen and shouting as loud as they can because nobody is there to call them an idiot in person.

It also could be looked at as the 24 and 48 are pretty much in the chase and can afford to push the limits. The 5 and 25 are either near the cut off point or trying to get in.

No, I don't take offense to it....I've admitted many times over the years on this forum that I was mistaken about something, and that people can learn things from other people all of the time.
I went off of my recollection, and that was in error.....

Yeah, right...if someone disagrees with you, they're lying. You haven't actually used the word "hater", but you have said that people hated Gordon because he was so good, etc. swinging from his jock worse than Diam does Quinns. Regardles, I'm sure you will still say that they don't deserve anything and will blame it on the conspiracy to make it more competitive....even though history shows that Hendricks gets more breaks than anyone. I'll leave this alone, as you will undoubtedly start your childishness yet again because your hero worship of all that is Gordon causes you to be "delusional".

LOL, thanks for proving me correct. When you go off memory and are wrong it's a mistake. When others do it, they're a liar. Then when they call you on it, they are a liar again. Classic and typical shep. Keep swining from that 25 jock, shep and stop offering to hug and kiss me...I'm not in the facility where you work and am not into that, thank

They already got penalized with no practice time and not being allowed to qualify...and there may be further sanctions coming which should be announced some time today. Oh never mind, I just remembered you were gonna leave this alone.

So you don't think the punishment should be as severe for Hendricks as it was DEI. Got it.

I suppose I should not have used sarcasm over the internet. Recollections are tainted by personal biases and grudges. If as stated by people above you hero worship the 24 you will look back on this incident as Gordon being jobbed by Nascar. Where as when you look back on the Junior infraction you probably feel it was justified and cheaters should be punished.
You did not answer my question about your feelings if it was a non Hendrick car. Would you be crying for punishment if say Kenseth, Kahne or anybody outside of the Hendrick shop got caught doing the same thing?

It can't be the same because they already took something away from the Hendrick teams that wasn't taken away from the 8 team. (as I recall, and I aint gonna go look---did they take away quals from the 8 team??)
It's apples and oranges.....because of the way NASCAR has conducted business.
I would be fine with it if they had let them qualify and run the race AND THEN TOOK the points and fined the teams and suspended the crew chiefs.
But they didn't.
Once again, NASCAR shows the only thing they are consistent at is being inconsistent!

I thought the punishment of the 8 team was excessive, but I like that NASCAR is finally meting out actual punishments. For too many years, we have seen drivers given "probation" for infractions that they should have lost points for....as that is the only thing that gets their attention....dollars and points.
But they need to be consistent.....and no I would not be crying for punishment. I leave that up to NASCAR because I have no choice but to do otherwise.

Again, you think that small punishment for Hendricks is severe enough, even though DEI got a much harsher penalty. Which do you think is more severe, having to start at the back of the field for a race or being docked 100 points AND having the crew chief suspended for 6 races for the same sort of infraction? Any way you slice it, DEI was punished more than Hendricks if they don't get further punishment, and that isn't even mentioning the fact that Knaus is a repeat offender. If there aren't further sanctions on Hendricks, it will only fuel the fire that Hendricks gets preferential treatment....confirming it for many while being dismissed by others.

Yes they were penalized when they were not allowed to qualify or practice on Friday. But Nascar has said all along it was going to severely punish those who mess with the COT. I think to prove to teams, especially those who barring an utter collapse are in the chase, that they will not abide by any modifications to the template they will start escalating the punishment.
Otherwise if you are the 24 or the 48 and you are 700 to 500 points away from the cut-off point what harm will 100 driver points do. I look for them to hand down the same 100 driver\owner points, 6 race suspension and 100,000 dollar fines to the crew chiefs. Which in all likely hood will change nothing over at the Hendricks shop.
If past record has anything to do with this I could see Knaus sitting longer than the 6 races with a bigger fine.

It's Hendrick.....not Hendricks with an ess. Just an FYI...
Anyway.....of course being docked 100 points is seemingly more severe, but the exact point is they shouldn't dock them 100 points after already assessing the penalty that they did to not be able to practice and to start in the back of the field at a road course!
And it's not the same type of infraction, which is something that you refuse to envision at all.

All it will show is that NASCAR is inconsistent.....which isn't breaking news.

Altering equipment is altering equipment...something you refuse to see. Yes, Hendrick (thanks grammar police) said it was a "gray" area, but that doesn't make it true. They knowingly altered the fenders for better downforce. DEI knowingly altered the brackets of the spoiler for better aerodynamics. It's the same type of infraction. Hendrick's crew chiefs should get 6 races suspension just like Eury got. Your bias doesn't let you see that.

As well it should.........each time you are found guilty of some infraction, the sanction for any ensuing infraction should be increased.

That's funny? Jerry Rice disagrees with you. He said NASCAR drivers ARE "athletes".
But hey,he's just an NFL HOF'er. What does he know?
