The part about Bill, oBUMa and Hillary is only part of the story ..
The repubs are also right there with them ... there's alot of peed off repubs today in congress and in business ... lots of them .. and its about damm time ...
Lets be realistic about this .. its not about "free trade" for our govt officials .. not even close ..
Its about MONEY in their pockets through lobbyists ... no more, no less ...
Look at what its done to our country ...
U mention no big "manufacturing factories" in Manhattan .. and your right .. never has been, never will be ....... but 40 years ago there was plenty of small ones .. not sure if u remember the GARMET DISTRICT ... that was one of the first casualties of "free trade" ... and alot of them ... broke all the "labor" laws we had and still couldn't survive .... but thats another story ...
The problem is the high cost of Manhattan. At one time it made sense to have manufacturing there, but the price of property, rent and leases in Manhattan have soared to a point that it now has become improbable if not impossible for it to become a fiscally sound way to go about founding a new manufacturing business.

Exactly, but that principal that drove manufacturing away from the big city to Scranton, PA and to Greenville, SC is the same principal that is driving it from Indiana to Monterrey, Mexico..
It's 7 Million over 10 years which is 700,000 per year.
I don't care for this deal at all to be honest. I'd have preferred that trump keep his promise to fix NAFTA in a way that makes it not a good deal to relo jobs..
You can't fix this one company at a time.. It's just to big a problem

Gov. Sarah Palin, who is being considered for a cabinet position in the Trump administration -- is raising alarm over president-elect's recently announced deal with Carrier, suggesting in an op-ed it could amount to "crony capitalism."
"When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent," Palin wrote in a 'Young Conservatives' op-ed. "Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail."
Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence traveled to the Carrier plant in Indianapolis Thursday to tout the company agreeing to keep 1,100 jobs in the city instead of shipping hundreds to Mexico. Carrier said in a statement the agreement was due in part to the incoming administration's lobbying as well as state tax incentives. Trump's transition team has refused to publicly disclose the full details of the deal, but company officials said in a statement Thursday that the state of Indiana, where Pence is governor, offered the company a $7 million package over multiple years, contingent on factors including employment, job retention and capital investment.
Trump Warns US Companies: There Will Be 'Consequences' for Leaving A Look at 5 Trump Business Ties That Pose Conflicts What Happens to Trump's Businesses After He Takes Office? Trump, in comments at a rally, put other American companies on notice that they would not be free to relocate their companies outside of the U.S. "without consequences."
Sarah Palin Says Trump's Carrier Deal Could … Sarah Palin Says Trump's Carrier Deal Could Be 'Crony Capitalism' (ABC News) Palin, who ABC News reported Wednesday is under consideration to be Trump's secretary of veterans affairs, took issue with that principle in her op-ed.
"Foundational to our exceptional nation’s sacred private property rights, a business must have freedom to locate where it wishes," Palin said. "In a free market, if a business makes a mistake (including a marketing mistake that perhaps Carrier executives made), threatening to move elsewhere claiming efficiency’s sake, then the market’s invisible hand punishes."
Palin goes so far to point out that such government intervention sets an "illogical precedent" of a corporate welfare system she labels as "a hallmark of corruption. And socialism."
"However well meaning, burdensome federal government imposition is never the solution. Never. Not in our homes, not in our schools, not in churches, not in businesses," she added.
"Gotta’ have faith the Trump team knows all this."
The Trump transition team has defended itself from similar criticisms by conservatives of the deal, with Pence telling the New York Times in an interview Thursday, "The free market has been sorting it out and America’s been losing."
Palin was a stern defender of Trump throughout the GOP primary and his campaign, but in her op-ed she joins the chorus of skeptics calling for Trump and his team to make full details of the Carrier deal public.
"I’ll be the first to acknowledge concerns over a deal cut by leveraging taxpayer interests to make a manufacturer stay put are unfounded – once terms are made public," Palin writes.
The Trump team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Conservatives blasted obama and bush for bailing out the auto industry, saving thousands of jobs, because of government overreach, but seem not to have a problem with trumps government doing the same thing.

U do realize he can't do a thing about NAFTA til he is president ... correct? ..
Please tell me your that intelligent ...
U GUYS ARE AMAZING ...
The man just saved 1,100 AMERICAN JOBS from going to Mexico ... thats 1,110 more than oBUMa has in the last 8 years ...
Other cities, states have tried the same thing and failed for one of two reasons ..
1. companies left anyhow cause there was NO HOPE of lower taxes, restrictions being eased, the cost of oBUMa care not KILLING THEM ... and many other factors ..
2. They didn't have the foresight to tie it to a MINIMUM # OF JOBS ...
I just explained the deal to U and u still don't GET IT ...
There dumping 16 million into renovations/upgrades ... u don't dump 16 mill in to save 7 mill ... maybe u would ... *LOL*
U guys are SO SHORTSIGHTED ... u have no clue what just happend ..
Your arguments are economics 101 when this is at the 500 course level ... and i haven't even gotten to the WHAT REALLY HAPPEND PART as it will fall on deaf ears ...
And- I can't believe I'm saying this- palin is correct and what she's saying.

My initial thought was .. the WHO? .. last i looked one was a repub the other was a dem ... not sure what lines your looking for here? ..
I been waiting for this SWISH .. and i'm so happy it was U ... so, so happy .. you'll spin this somehow cause its all u ever do ... for those interested in the TRUTH ...
OBUMa and Bush bailing out the auto industry is not even CLOSE to what just happend in Indi .. NOT EVEN CLOSE ... its not even comparing apples to oranges .. its more like comparing grapes to watermelons ...
Comparing the auto industry bailouts to what just happend at Carrier shows just how little u know about money and/or just how far you will go to CRAP on the Trumpster ...
I'll keep it REAL SIMPLE TO START and make 3 EASY TO UNDERSTAND POINTS ...
1. Between Bush and oBUMa our goverment wrote checks totaling just north of 80 BILLION in the form of loans and stock purchases ....
INDI OR THE FEDS WROTE NO CHECK ... NONE ... ZERO ...
2. Of the 80 billion ... a % of that went to keep the RETIRED UNION MEMBERS PENSIONS from taking a hit ... ya .. thats right .. it didn't go to KEEPING JOBS or to save the INDUSTRY ... it went to retired UNION members ... all of that coming from oBUMa ..
PS. That broke federal law ... but we won't go there ..
3. They did a "soft" bankruptcy (code for screw the bond holders and other creditors but my VOTING BASE the UNIONS won't lose even a penny from there pensions .. and i'm doing this off memory ... i believe the non-union employees lost something .. ) ..
The bond holders got PENNY'S on the Dollar ... PENNY'S .. in fairness the retired unions folks may have lost a few pennies on the dollar ... thats MAY .. i don't think they did but i'm only about 80% on that ..
This is just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG on the differences here ... TIP OF THE ICEBERG ...
Trump SAID he would save those jobs by putting a tariff of 35% on any Carrier product brought into America from Mexico. What he actually did was pay a bribe to Carrier to keep those jobs here.
One is punishing the company for moving and the other rewards them for staying. Those are total opposites. Now you are right the jobs were saved. But actually, Pence saved those jobs as he was the only one with the power to pay the bribe to Carrier. Trump actually had nothing to do with it. As you pointed out yourself, Trump isn't even president yet.
At some point I feel his supporters might wish to hold Trump accountable for what he actually said he would do rather than when he does something completely different.
Either Pence gets all of the credit or Trump paid off Carrier rather than punish them for moving like he said he would do. People can't have it both ways.

Bush and obama bailed them out to save the jobs here in America.
Trump offered Carrier millions in tax breaks to save jobs here in America.
Different tactic, same result.
So, yes, it isn't close. Because it's a direct hit, the facts, the truth.
If you believe in a true free market, then no government action should be supported by you. Capitalism, right?
Don't pick and choose. If you blasted obama and bush over the bailout, then I expect the same now that Trump used government action (read: bribery) to keep American jobs in America.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Romney is getting roasted all over social media right now.
Him and Cruz. Complete frauds. If I was Trump I wouldn't even entertain these two losers. They tried to do everything in they power to undermine you.
So fake.

Cities/ states do this all the time ... ALL THE TIME ... the fact the media is railing on this as something new and its going to ruin the US just shows how biased they are ...
Stick to the concrete business my friend .. this is way way way over your head ... everytime u and your buddies make a post it shows .... and here's why ..
If the jobs left ... we get ZERO TAX REVENUE from Carrier in Indi .. ZERO ...
So if now they pay 1,000 ... were up a 1,000 ...
There also INVESTING 16 MILLION in renovations ... the tax breaks carrier is getting are spread out over 10 years and they need to keep MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT numbers to get their 700k a year ... a % of the tax breaks are going for TRAINING ...
the 16 million investment will HELP THE LOCAL ECONOMY ... as part or all of the 16 mill will go into the pockets of LOCALS ... helping the FURNITURE STORES, the CARPET STORES, the roofing and siding industry .. see HOW MANY UN-THOUGHT OF ROADS were going down here Pit ..
MORE IMPORTANTLY ...
We have 1,110 indianians not on unemployment and still PAYING TAXES on their wages ...
U quote the 6,400 number per job .. thats OVER 10 YEARS ... so its 640 dollars PER YEAR ... no clue what the tax code is in Indi .. but i would venture to guess they MORE THAN BROKE EVEN on that alone ... then add to it the fact none of these folks will be going on unemployment, welfare or food stamps or not being able to pay for theirHEALTH CARE ...
Add that all up .. its. HUGE WIN for the local and state ...
As i said there not going on the public dole .. and CONTRIBUTING TO THE LOCAL ECONOMIES .. I bet there's a lot of ma's out shopping for x-mas gifts as we speak .. getting their hair and nails done ... Christmas formal dresses for their daughters ..
You and the rest of the HATERS have lost SITE OF PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING in your quest to rip the Donald ...
I'm simply pointing out that it was Pence that did this and not Trump. Trump actually had no power to offer this deal.
I'm also pointing out this deal was the opposite of what Trump said would happen as it pertains to the method of going about keeping those jobs.
Now you can try to question my ability to comprehend this issue if you somehow feel you need to have some superiority complex and I would expect no less from you.
But those facts remain and are 100% correct.
I know you're fairly new to the Everything Else forum. So maybe it's you who have a lack of comprehension on this issue. But over the years I have railed against corporate welfare. State verses state, city verses cities to pay bribes to companies and corporations. So I'm fully aware it happens all the time.
You see, I'm not ripping Trump. I understand he had ZERO POWER to offer Carrier ANY deal. He's not even in public office yet.
You glossed over the entire point as I knew you would. Trump made a claim he would punish Carrier if they moved to Mexico. The opposite happened. They were instead rewarded them for staying here. But lets refuse to discuss that, shall we?
Quit thinking you're all that smart. You aren't.

Yes, I'm totally aware of that, but you jumping to conclusions is kinda silly. Are you smart enough to realize that Trump didn't actually do anything to save those jobs? He's not the President yet, he has no power. It was Pence that brought the money to the table...
IMO, he needed to sit tight until he became president then dealt with NAFTA. That's the way to get a bigger impact. Something that will really matter.
Saving a thousand or so jobs in Indiana is peanuts that he and his team are making out to be a big freaking deal. It's not.
I'm glad for the Engineers and Admin folks that won't lose their jobs, but it doesn't seem that he did much for the working man/woman. No way to know for sure yet because all the details haven't been released.. But eventually they will be.

Like i said .. SPIN SPIN SPIN ..
U use the words .. facts, truth .. when the TRUTH IS ... Bush and oBUMa wrote checks to the car companies .. there was no check written by the state of indiana or the feds .. and thats a FACT ...
Grapes to watermelons ...
That just your BS on point #1 ...
There is no such thing as FREE TRADE ... u can continue to live in fantasy land ... i know business and money ... ask anyone with a clue .. there is no such thing ...
I blasted bush and oBUMa ...
Ford didn't enter in to it ... they did just fine ...
Detroit is now a ghost town ... when u buy from an "American" auto company .. some or all of it is more than likely made overseas or in Mexico ...
When u buy from a "foreign" manufacturer .. some or al lof it may be made here ..
THOSE LINES ARE GONE ... but i'm sure u knew that ... ..
Its to bad u don't have an open mind or a clue .. u could actually learn sumptin ... your either to caught up on your hate or your ego's to big .. maybe both ..

Thats fine ... lets discuss it Pit ... I am fairly new here ... i could care less what u did in the past about "corporate welfare" .. this isn't about corporate welfare .. its about KEEPING JOBS IN AMERICA ...
Your first two lines show where your heads at Pit ... go read them ...
In like 1 u say Trump could not have made the deal cause he doesn't have the power .. then in line two u rip him for not doing this the way he said he was going to do it, when u just ADMITTED HE HAS NO POWER YET ... U don't see the hypocrisy there ... INCREDIBLE ...
The carrier corp. was going to be JUST FINE weather they stood here or moved to Mexico .. but appearantly you don't understand that or anything else i said .. if u had a clue you'd know they would have been better off financially moving to Mexico .. there's a reason many corp's move MANUFACTURING overseas or to Mexico but keep their R&D and Engineering and other "high end" jobs here ..
Look at Apple .. manufacturing in China ... R&D here .. why is that Pit? .. i always ask WHY ...
U seriously can't see the math in this? ... what does 1,100 AMERICANS keeping there jobs and paying taxes and boosting the local economy and not going on the public dole have to do with CORPORATE WELFARE? ...
How is carrier's 16 million invesment in it facility here CORPORATE WELFARE? ..
Thats a great term to throw around .. the term corporate welfare is a hot button term .. it gets folks all riled up and they pump their chests ... ya .. were sticking up for the working man ........ well Pit, TIMES HAVE CHANGED ...
1. Pence tried on his own back in March when it was first announced .. he couldn't do it ..
2. Trump picked up the phone two or three weeks ago .. and BOOM ..
3. DUH ... Pence authorized the deal .. but w/o Trump there is no deal ..
4. Wait til trump has the power the power to do what he said ..
Your in way over your head here pit ... WAY OVER ...
And the fact when its pointed out to u with SIMPLE MATH and u still can't see it is VERY VERY SAD ...
Slam me all u want ... it doesn't change the FACTS ...
Please ... U, Or your boys Pit and Swish, explain to me:
Nevermind .. would be a waste of time .. the INFO's out there .. U just don't want to consider it cause Trump did it .. done wasting my time making the same points ...
SAD ... VERY SAD ...
SWISH - i blew your crap up once again ... u mentioned facts once again ... the facts are out there .. and there all on one side ...
So he should have sat on his ass until he can do what he says and just let the 1,110 (800 of witch were manufacturing jobs ... but hey .. that don't fir your HATRED OF TRUMP very well) ... jobs in Indi go cause in the grand scheme of things its peanuts ... SAD .. VERY SAD ...
Ask those 1,100 (800 of witch ARE MANUFACTURING JOBS) folks in Indi if its peanuts to them ..
If your still basically a glorified HR person .. it makes what u say even MORE INCREDIBLE ...
Knock yourself out DaMan .. i'm going back to ignoring u .. just a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME .... banging my head against the wall would get better results than talking to U ..
1st, Palin wants to roast Trump over what he did with Carrier. What did she think he meant when he said that he would make businesses stay here in America? This was one of the central tenets of his campaign. I know that he was all over the place on some things, but this idea was something that he was not at all equivocal about. How did she think he was going to do this kind of thing? I also think that the Trump administration is probably going to more protectionist that prior administrations have been.
2nd, people are saying that Trump shouldn't bring in anyone who disagreed with him. Frankly, I want him having different viewpoints. He is also interviewing Democrats for roles in his administration as well. As long as those he hires know that it is his policies that are the policies of the US, and that they can definitely give him their opinions, but once he decides, the matter is decided, then I don't see a problem.
Trump supposedly likes contrary opinions, and people who will give him their unvarnished opinions. I am sure that Trump has had many people working for him who have disagreed with some actions his company has take, but as long as they fall in line once the matter is decided, then there's no problem.
I do think that an often overlooked aspect of manufacturers leaving the US is the combination of taxes and regulations. Manufacturers are also now leaving Canada for Mexico. Wages, taxes, and regulations all play a part. If we want employers to stay here, and to pay solid wages, then they have a competitive tax and regulatory situation here at home. Industries have to have some certainty in the regulations they must follow. Prior to Obama, regulations would change at the beginning of a new year, for the most part. This is not how the Obama administration has handles this aspect of things. They have made major changes to regulations in the middle of the year, when businesses have not budgeted for such. These are things that chase industries out of our country for other countries with more certainty.
I do think that Trump will help simplify the tax and regulatory situations, that that this will encourage companies to stay in the US .... or at least make it easier for them to do so. I also think that he will make an arrangement for the hundreds of billions of dollars that have remained parked overseas to come home. All of that money that count not be repatriated to the US also made it easier for businesses to use that money to build in foreign lands.
I am shocked at how many members of a certain party are so indignant and upset over Trump using tax incentives to keep jobs here in the US. Democrats wonder why they got absolutely shellacked in the recent election, well, here is a part of the reason. People don't think that the Democrats care about them anymore. I know that is the case here in YTown, a real, heavy duty Democrat stronghold, t hat went for Trump this time around. Many Democrat Senators have their seats up for election in 2 years ..... and I think that a lot of them are, and should be, concerned.
Anyway, just a couple of comments.

As long as you admit that you're ok with special interests and crony capitalism, it's all good then. Just don't act otherwise. You're cool with this, so just say so.
Anyway, so, while I understand why melania is staying at trump tower...how much is that gonna cost us now that the secret service has to secure the entire building for the next for years, on top of protecting trump and their other assignments?

BRUTAL ...

so you're gonna complain about Trump's vacation's as well, right?

I see nothing wrong with using state and local tax abatement and credits to bring in, or keep industries. If the return to the state is larger then the investment they have to make, then I really don't mind it one bit. I also think that Carrier's parent company has a lot of defense contracts, and I believe that trump may have inferred that those deals might have been in jeopardy if they left Indiana. If you look at the incentives Carrier got, and compare that to the investment they are making in Indiana, what Indiana gave up over the course of 10 years was minimal. Further, the tax income for the state and city, from employee taxes and economic activity from those employees far out weigh the loss of tax income from the company's taxes.
I do think that this is just a Band Aid® though. We need to make it profitable, and easy, for businesses to operate in the US. I am not saying to just give them a free hand to do anything they want, however they want, but we do need to simplify the regulations industries face, and lessen the tax burden so we are competitive with the rest of the world. We cannot expect industries to stay in the US and face a 35% corporate tax base, when they can go elsewhere and pay less than half that. If you had a business, and faced a 35% tax base, would you stay here if you could relocate to Mexico and pay, maybe, 10%? (I'm not looking up their tax rate, but I know it is less than in the US) Now, would you do so if you faces competition from overseas that pays their employees $10/day?
We also have hundreds of billions of dollars parked overseas, that will never come back to the US, because of the massive tax bill they would face for doing so. For a business, it is much better to use that money for foreign investment than to bring it home and pay a huge tax bill on it. I think that a one time 10% "holiday" for off-shores monies would be a massive influx of capital into our country, and would also be a huge bump into our tax coffers. Oh, sorry, I just looked, and it is actually estimated at $2.1 trillion that is parked overseas. That would be a $210 billion chunk of money flowing into the treasury. That could be used for a lot of valuable projects.
As far as Mrs Trump, she has said that she wants her son to be able to finish the school year in his current school, as opposed to making him change schools in the middle of the year. I think that Trump foregoing his salary probably makes up for any additional expense this creates.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Pence had been trying to negotiate that deal for some time and it was already in the works. Trump had zero ability to effect any of it.
But this is the exact OPPOSITE of what Trump said he would impose on Carrier. You still refuse to discuss this as per usual when Trump does an about face. He simply stepped in and took credit for a deal Pence made.
Now IF, when Trump gets in office and does what he said he would do, which is impose a 35% tariff on any American companies/corporations that move jobs out of the country, I will applaud him for it. Just like I did when he appointed James Mattis as Sec. of Defense.
You are right about the math and the keeping the jobs in America. What you refuse to admit is the FACT that Carrier was given a bribe to keep those jobs here rather than being punished if those jobs were moved. You refuse to admit that Trump told us one thing and did another. Talk about people deflecting. lol
What I don't like is American states and cities bidding against each other in efforts to bribe companies to move there.
Now you don't like that. Sorry, but in most cases, it's not when companies move out of the country, but when companies pit American cities and states in bidding wars for their jobs.
The best bet is to impose what Trump claimed he would do by putting tariffs on ALL American businesses who threaten to leave the U.S. and outlaw our communities from bidding against each other over jobs.
You see, the tax rate on U.S. business is 35% but the actual tax rate they pay on average is about 17%. You know, the effective tax rate. People need to quit stating things in a manner that paint such a negative light and state what business actually pays. Globally 17% isn't a bad tax rate.
So yes, I understand far more than concrete work Mr. Superiority. lmao

Nephews rooms finally passed inspection ... *L* ... its off for a day of playing and watching sports with my nephews ended with a nice steak dinner with 3 of my 4 favorite people in the world ... we only get to live this day once .. i'm gonna enjoy the rest of mine ...
Enjoy your day Swish .. hopefully u get to spend some of it with your girls ...
Your posts say otherwise Pit ... I don't like what's going on any more than U do .. but weather we like it or not it doesn't change the reality ...
Your saying you'd of rather let these 1,110 folks go based off the fact u don't like we can't compete with Mexico or China or 4 or 5 other countries to keep our jobs here ...
U keep living in the 1960's and 70's ... and make sure u keep your head buried in the sand deep enough so TODAY'S REALITIES can't reach U ...
I'll continue to live and make decisions off based on what the world and OUR countries like in the year 2016 ...
In the year 2016 ... i'll take this deal every day of the week and twice on sunday ... if you'd rather our jobs continue to leave the country ... we'll just have to agree to disagree ...
I gotta go .. 9 and 12 year old's can yell pretty loud ..
Later Pit ... maybe when i get back you'll be into the 80's or 90's .. give it a shot .. REALITY ain't a bad place to be ... *L* ..
so i expect that number to go up now that Melania is gonna require her own constant service at Trump tower for the next 4 years.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
It cost 40k a DAY to protect somebody who was running for office.
So let's say that number is for melania: that's 14,600,000 every year. I'm not a mathematician, but me thinks his presidential salary isn't gonna cover that.
That doesn't include protecting his son when he's at school, or the other trump kids who will potentially get protection as well.
So trump has already increased the government spending, and he ain't even in office yet.

They also have staffed offices in just about every decent sized city in the country. They have to investigate every threat made, even if the person is a known regular in psych hospitals. I'm sure the cost has already skyrocketed with all the libs that flipped their lids when Trump won.

What we do know is that melania deciding to stay at trump tower is gonna cost a lot of money, especially if it's the duration of the entire 4 years.
So when conservatives do their monthly complaining about vacations, I hope they don't have double standards. Because the cost of protection is about to double, on TOP of the vacations that trump will take, like every other president takes.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
He also said he was gonna drain the swamp. So much for that, right? So far the only person giving bold face lies is trump, but of course you believe it.
So I certainly hope they will move into the wh, but it doesn't change the fact that the spending has increased just to secure melania and their son.
