The fact is the Moneyball boys have failed and got to go. How have they failed when they have barely even started?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

More likely, the Browns will add a veteran consultant to the front office to help with personnel decisions. It's not nearly enough, but something is better than nothing. That is all I'm asking for..someone with football experience to help the Harvard Boys make the best possible draft picks.
I don't care what title they give him or her, just so that individual is "well qualified" and allowed to contribute to the process.
How do they contribute? What happens when there is a disagreement? Who then has the power to over ride the other? In my opinion, all that would lead to is decension in the FO, which leads as we've seen, to a quick exit.. Everyone we have is on the "same page", why bring in someone with. Different book?

It is shocking that we have spent more than the Patriots. Yikes.

Yep. There would be way too many cooks in the kitchen. And can you imagine the ego the football guy would have? I mean, didn't we learn with Holmgren? \

Just wait until free agency. Pretty much everyone who is anyone on that team will be a free agent at the end of this year. Martellus, Blount, Logan Ryan, Sheard and Mingo. When you have a franchise QB you really have to rely on players you drafted. You can't really afford much more talent than that. However, if the Browns can find their QB, we can use all of our cap space while he develops into a franchise QB.

If there is one thing that Belichick excels at, above everything else, it is finding pieces that fit his team, at a reasonable price. He probably does a better job of getting A results out of C players than any other coach in the NFL.

...0-12
...a 2016 draft that looks to be nothing special, even though the Browns were drafting near the top of each round and more bites of the apple than any other team.
...starting 5 different QBs, none looking like a franchise QB of the future.
...so many needs that even the Browns monster draft coming up will not be enough to fill the many needs.
As for how they contribute, disagreements, power to override, possible descension and everyone being on the same page...these are well educated men with Harvard educations and I would think if they are mature enough to deal with it.
Hopefully they will recognize the need for additional help and utilize any improvements to the process to make better draft picks.
...too much to ask of Harvard educated men?
I think they can deal with it...if it even happens!

The fact is the Moneyball boys have failed and got to go. I just don't get posts like this...smh not just this one but others that are similar.
The season is a failure how is that these guys have failed in their LONG TERM BUILD. Gee cause there are articles out there saying so...lol we are friggen 0-12 that is what they will say. We went with more youth than expected and key injuries...RG3 the biggest happened early.
Mary Kay talks about our OL and the QBs getting injured and Kessler's 2 concussions. Well I saw both and it had nothing to do with the OL.
We did a total rebuild with NEW O and D and 19 rookies on our 53 Roster most being called on to provide a service for the team. Nobody likes 0-12 NOBODY. But so many pointing fingers like Floyd not being signed here? Yeah really our WR situation is why we are 0-12?
smh. Weather the storm and build from there.

Do u really think these guys are in agreement with the players we select even most of the time? .. thats just NOT POSSIBLE ... once there's more than one person involved ... there's going to be DISAGREEMENTS ... your view that there's agreement and consesus on the players we draft or will eventually get in FA is just not based in reality ... there may be "consesus" in that some are being DRAGGED ALONG after the decision has been made .. Thre's always going to be SOME DUST created in personal decisions .. its HUMAN NATURE ... the only thing that is a "consesus" is that everyone will put on their happy faces after their fact .. its a "what happens in vegas, stays in Vegas" type thing .. This year was the honeymoon ... there were NO HARD FEELINGS cause they never worked together ... well now the honeymoon is over and there's HISTORY with each other .. We'll see how Kumbya they all are as this moves forward ... especially with the MONEYBALLERS vs the FOOTBALL GUYS ... those two 100% different philosophies are possibly the MOST FLAMMABLE KINDLING EVER ... BOTTOM LINE ... if we start winning Shangrala will be much easier to continue ... IF NOT ... Shangrala will all of a sudden become a HELL HOLE ... ....

Being that were less than a year into this thing, it just doesn't make sense to bring in a NEW GUY. Were still feeling each other out and trying to get along, can you imagine a new guy all of a sudden saying hey have you thought about?? Talk about a cluster. Lets get our party started first and then if we feel we need to move on and get more experience then do it, but that means we should have at least a couple of years together first to see if we do need help.

I don't agree with that ... but its a way better argument than a new guys going to come in and screw up Shangrala ..... The FO/Hue can say whatever they want when the doors open .... behind closed doors there's going to disagreements .. its IMPOSSIBLE for their not to be .... thats just not realistic .. Like i said .. i would much rather have a football guy with more experience than Berry .. i'm not a fan of my head personal guy in the NFL having 7 years experience in the NFL .. I'm just not .. if your comfie with that .. we just disagree .. I said maybe Berry will be the Theo of football .. it happens .. ONCE in the last 50 years of baseball and NEVER IN FOOTBALL .. .but it is possible ... Berry is definetly smart enough .. NO DOUBT he has the brains to do this .. the experience .. not on paper ... HOPEFULLY for all of our sakes he posses the innate ability to be a VERY GOOD GM w/o the experience ... AND with the MONEYBALLERS ... they actually listen to him ... I don't think these guys have a shot in hell of succeeding .. but i'm not going to condem them or bash them unfairly ... i've said they've done some good things and i LOVE THE PLAN .... I really like Wentz but I don't bash them for it .. i lOVE the plan .. just don't think these guys can EXECUTE it properly ... I've said in other posts .. we'll know alot more after this year ... Lets hope you guys are right .. As far as this goes .. we'll just have to agree to disagree .. i would LOVE someone with more football experience up top ... and NOT to be DICTATOR ... but someone with football experience that wanted to be a part of the team and not take it over ..

Their first mistake was in "going full rebuild" on a team that didn't NEED a full rebuild. What the Browns needed was to resign the yoing talent ALREADY HERE and BUILD around it. The biggest mistake the Browns have made, the last 3 ownera included is they hire people that have zero clue what they are doing. These people walk in and any talent available is shown the door.
The truth is the Moneyballers sat at the kiddie table scratching their heads as the foundation walked out the friggin' door. They proceeded to replace NONE of said foundation via FA and wasted two years of draft volume on rotational backup caliber players or all out scrubs.
The Browns needed to resign the talent they had and hit on some impact players in the draft, the Zeke Elliotts, Carson Wentz's, the Dak Prescotts ect.
Now the Browns are set back 5 years because this front office has no clue how work FA, how to resign players, how to work the waiver wires and is especially inept at drafting. The coaching staff has no clue how to coach anyone up or play tough, mistake free football. 0-12 is correct, this show is incapable of winning games. The sooner Haslam shows them the door hopefully the sooner the next regime can fix the trash pile created by the Harvard Boys.

I don't get how you can say that the new FO doesn't know how to work the waiver wire. They have plucked some decent players off of other team's scraps.

You talk about "tweeking" things.
What would you tweek?
As one said: If you bring in a different view, you muddy the water.
In my view either you stick with it, or you scrap it. I'll try to answer that question, but there are people on the payroll that should know how to tweek things better than I. First, I think I should begin with why things should be tweaked. Obviously, constant losing can have damaging affects. Attendance goes down. People selling their tickets for as low as $6. Fans not renewing their season tickets. Players not wanting to stay here when their contracts are up. Other free agents not wanting to come here. Players stop believing in the coaches and growing comfortable w/losing. It's one thing for that to occur this year, but if things are tweaked, next year could magnify the things I just mentioned. What happens after two straight years of monumental losing? We both know that coaches will be sacrificed. And what does that do to the plan, my friend? It effectively kills it because nothing blows-up a football team more than changing coaching staffs. I think most of us don't want to see guys getting fired. I think most of us want to see continuity. I just think that losing double digit games for two straight years could prove to be fatal to the plan. Thus, that is why I think the plan should be tweaked a bit. A few things they can do: --Stop this nonsense of "streamlining" the scouting department. I would hire more scouts and have them not only scout talent, but dig into each player's character. Talk to the players, talk to their coaches, teammates, family members, etc. Be a thorough as you can. I recently posted an article on here that had Gil Brandt talking about NFL scouting departments being underfunded and how it hurts the teams. Yet, the Browns want to spend even less money on that department. I do not think that is wise. --Draft impact players in the first round and at the top of the second round. Do NOT trade down in the first and second rounds this year. Draft impact players at impact positions and do not try and draft "players we can develop." --Spend some money in free agency. I am not saying that we need to continue that philosophy, but we desperately need some wins next year. We don't need to spend on the high-priced, big-named guys.......but bring guys in like an Alex Mack, Mitchell Schwartz, and Gipson. I used those three because all are familiar w/them. All three guys are helping their teams. And here is something crazy...did you know Jax was third in pass defense this year? --In order to properly evaluate the pro talent, we certainly need a guy whose job is to do only that. A Director of Pro Personnel, which is not to be confused w/the collegiate scouting department. Farmer had that role in KC before he came here. We may already have that guy, but if not, we need that position to be filled. We also need to spend the money to properly fund that department. --Re-sign your key free agents this year. I don't want to hear stuff about how they don't want to be here or how we didn't win any games w/them, so why keep them. Identify the talent and do what you have to do to keep the guys you can build with. That's all I have, right now. Not a big deal. It isn't blowing things up. Instead, it is about avoiding the fallout of firing coaches when this team loses almost all of their games next year after winning 0-2 games this year. It's like I used to tell my Math and Science students when their strategy isn't working. Stop beating your head against the wall. Look around. :ook for another way in. Use the door! Thanks. On a few points....I quoted the whole reply so it would be easy for me to look back at your answer to my question. As the the streamlining. Has that happened? I know we let some scouts go last year. I don't know that we didn't replace them, with at least a adequat number of eyes in the field. I don't know what a NFL average is for the number of employeed scouts. I know at one time that teams subscribed to scouting services. BLESTO is on that somes to mind. Seems there was another that escapes me right now. I agree with you if we are trying to do it with the FO and 3 scouts.....even 10 scouts, but I don't know that you need 25 scouts. I know baseball. I know that teams have regional scouts that work for the team, on the payroll, and have hundreds of birddog scouts that work for nothing, or if lucky, some expenses. The regional guy makes contacts with locals who sit at HS games to watch prospects given to them and also look for others. I am sure football works the same way. These guys( the regionals) can't be at every small college game in their area. My son Chris and I talked aboyut this. For your top picks, I'd have a undercover scout who starts following these guys around. Don't just talk to the coach, or whoever. Actually see what the guy does off camera. As an example, it couldn't have been all that hard to see that Manziel was out until 3AM all the time, and drinking more than a serious player should. I agree about FA. The smart use of FA is about filling needs. That allows you to go BPA in the draft. Most of the time, or at least a good portion of the time, BPA isn't going to fill a need. You have to use both. I think we will. Last year, meaning this, was the evaluation phase for this team. You have to remember all of this happened fairly late in the process. If we go this year without making a solid effort to bring in a few vets to fill some holes and expect we can do it all in the draft, I will be bummed as well. You know me. I have always said you fill needs in FA. Draft the BPA with your draft picks. To me, that is building through the draft. Then, at some point, you can use some draft picks to fill a need. When you suck, as we do, you need to stock the farm with some solid stock, no matter where it falls. I think that answer cover your comment about drafting impact players. As for the sign your free agests.....we'll see how that goes. Last year, you know my views. We have Pryor and Collins this year. If we only make a half ass effort to sign them, I agree. We blew it. To me, both of those guys are like first round draft picks. If we don't sign them, we better have a pretty darn good offer they refused to sign.

... you fill needs in FA. Draft the BPA with your draft picks. That is the ideal, moreso since the FA period was moved prior to the Draft...

Resigning our own should be a higher priority than throwing tons of cap space at other team's free agents.
At some point, the front office needs to understand that building via the draft includes resigning the best performing players to a second contract.
I'm not sure this front office gets it, yet.

SINCE HS ... now i'm suppose to believe in his payday year he's all of a sudden turned a corner .. I ain't buying it bro .. shocked your getting hood winked here ...

We talked about this before. While you are correct that it's his contract year, you are forgetting a few things:
--He was the top ranked RB coming out of high school, so there is no way he underachieved in high school.
--He was kicked out of Georgia due to a gun charge.
--He put up huge numbers in college. He did not underachieve.
--T. West was drafted in the third round and Crow was an UDFA. West got the first look as a starter. Crow actually earned his reps.
--We hardly ever ran the ball in his second year. Flip was the OC and abandoned the run the first time a team stopped a run.
--This was the first year where he was clearly the man. His numbers have slipped because of Kessler, but I imagine they will pick back up w/RGIII. I am not saying he is great, but I'd keep him.

I'm with you on Kirksey...I'd really like to see him with slightly improved play in front-of and beside him. So much youth, inexperience and change around him. I think he can get better.
I waffle around on Crow. I like him when he's/we're rolling..but he disappears and looks ineffective at times. Sort of like that guy who is good when things are going well...but can't be "the man" for stretches when it's needed.

Well..Kessler IS a terrible blocker. Maybe...just maybe...Bitonio being lost for the year and the revolving door at C had a little more to do with that drop off in production.

I said since HS ...
The gun charge was the LAST STRAW ... *LOL* at the fact u think any SEC school kicked a player out for one thing ...
His college numbers were good .. your correct ... guess I should have said he was inconsistent and his effort was questioned ...
No biggie Vers .. my guess is we sign him and were going to find out ...
I could care less about his numbers this year declining ... when Hue REFUSES to hand him the ball what do u expect ... save the Cody BS .. he may responsible for when Crow gets the ball and the 7 or 8 man boxes .. but he can't break the 20 yarder when HUE WON'T GIVE HIM THE BALL ...
he's been INCONSISTENT AS HELL HERE ... some games in his first two years he looked like he didn't even want to be out there ... u gonna deny that? ...
As for beating out West .. *LOL* .. West STINKS ,.. he showed flashes this year .. AFTER HE LOST WEIGHT and finally took the game seriously this off season after getting CUT BY 2 OR 3 DIFFERENT TEAMS ... once again .. HE STINKS!!!
If thats your example for Crow not being an UNDERACHIEVER HERE ... your kind of making my point ...
Once again .. were more than likely going to find out .. lets hope your right ..

Crow is a keeper. I dont know if he will ever hit pro bowl status, but he's a good back.
Our bigger priority is building the o-line. That helps everyone.

Seriously? I can accept that agenda posters like Willie would say that............but you?

Even when u can't run .. u know as well as i do U still have to try if for no other reason than to let the D know your going to do it once in awhile .. Hue basically admitted as much in the week after the Thursday game .. I believe he said we need to run the ball more ... i'm pretty sure he said that ... if he didn't .. i'm sure U or one of my fan club will let me know .... *L* ...

BS? What the hell are you talking about? You don't think that teams doing everything they can to stop the run because they know Kessler can't beat them effects how many times Hue calls running plays? Seriously? I can accept that agenda posters like Willie would say that............but you? Why doesn't he run well behind McCown? Bitonio and the C maybe? Outside of mac, you sir are the biggest agenda poster on this Board. You rambled on about excuses for Wentz without seeing that CK suffers from the same things. Too funny.

He did say that. I don't remember when, but he did say that.
I'm guessing that we run it more this week. I hope so.....about time IMO. Running is a investment. Had the Skins of the 80's given up on Riggens and his 40 yards gained in the first half, they would have never gotten his 40 yards in the 3rd Qtr and 45 in the 4th qtr. Barry Sanders gained 80 of his yards on 2 carries a game. The other 40 came on 20 carries. Jim Brown, Emmett Smith, they gave you a lot of 8 yard runs. Most others it is chunk or chump.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

...that is my agenda! Inciting the masses is your agenda and you've been working hard at it for about a year and 200 continuations of this thread. Usually the continuation for the new thread is posted before the last one is even locked. The fact that you formed your opinion before this FO got started reveals it for the nonsense that it is though.

I'm not giving anyone a pass..especially those responsible for this winless mess, the first year of the Moneyballers.
You have a problem with the Browns management taking responsibility for their own performance?

Actually that has been defenses game plans against us for several years now. They jam the box with at least 8 stopping the run on downs one and two and leaving the defense one on one for our QBs to win the game and we haven't had that QB here yet.
Why I like RG3 cause he throws such a nice vertical ball. That is what we need to get 2 safeties back there and 7 in the box.
so on that count Vers is correct. The only team I ever saw using 7 in the box has been the Bengals in recent years past...but not our last outing even they were jamming the box to stop the run!
jmho - btw why do you think HUE made it a point that he was disappointed in Kessler for not pulling the trigger on the vertical passes!
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

You have a problem with the Browns management taking responsibility for their own performance? Might be nice if you actually gave them a chance to see how the plan plays out. You started on them almost the moment free agency started.. I don't know how good their plan is or might be, BUT I DO KNOW THAT IF IT DOESN'T HAVE THE TIME TO PLAY OUT, THEN THE PLAN WILL FAIL.

You have a problem with the Browns management taking responsibility for their own performance? It would be nice if you allowed them to do that instead of laying in the bed that you made.
