It may be that Tyrod Taylor isn't happy in Buffalo, and Buffalo isn't happy with him (it could also be a bunch of media hooey... who really knows).
Hypothetically speaking, if Tyrod Taylor were to be available, would anyone want to go after him? I haven't followed him too much. He seems to be an altered version of RG3, as far as I know (not much). -He seems to be able to see the field better than RG3 -Measurables are not quite as eye-popping (speed, arm talent) -Not as injury-prone
All in all, he could be a lower-ceiling-but-higher-floor version of our RG3. If I'm mistaken on this front, by all means, call me out.
His team is also a bit more developed than ours. He has Shady McCoy ('nuf said) and that Karlos Williams guy before he decided to show up to camp overweight and injured (iirc). Their line is (arguably) better than ours, even before all of our injuries. They do run the ball pretty well. This year, Taylor's #'s are down, but he's been missing Sammy Watkins for a good chunk of the year. He also has Charles Clay at TE, who has done very little since he's showed up. Not sure if that's because of him, or Taylor, or both.
The consensus seems to be that our franchise QB is neither on this team, nor in the upcoming draft. I'd be up for bringing in another promising if uninspiring FA for the right price. Thoughts?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
Tyrod Taylor has dealt with injuries to all his playmakers. Sometimes having both shady and Sammy out at the same time for multiple games, and injuries to his O line.
But no. I rather we draft a guy.

I think he has a higher ceiling than Taylor. Although I don't think Taylor has reached anywhere Near his potential with Rex Ryan.

John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
I love it. Whatever we do, we can't draft a QB in the first 3 rounds with the picks we have now. I want to get Romo. Even if I think he's just a mannequin that turned into a human, just as Jeff Garcia was part of the reptile-humanoid being that runs our government. Anyone but a first top 3 round draft pick. Just hold out another year for Josh Rosen or Lamar Jackson.

Tyrod Taylor would be better than anything we've had at QB since 1999 (besides 2007).
Absolutely true. But, nobody is winning a SB with Tyrod Taylor, so what's the point? Unless mediocrity is the bar.
(Not directed at you cfrs, I understand you didn't say go out and get him)
With a very good defense and a very good running game a team can win the Super Bowl with Tyrod Taylor. That is very difficult to accomplish. Finding a QB in the draft might even more difficult.

Indeed, anything is possible. I'd take my chances.

It was not the Super Bowl, but the 49ers made the Conference Championship with this exact formula while being quarterbacked by Alex Smith.

And then they replaced their stop gap QB and became a SB team. Is prolonged progress not good enough for a 0-12 team? I don't think that anyone is suggesting Tyrod becomes our franchise QB, but more like a stop gap QB who is better than a mentor to Kelly Holcombe 18.0
Johnny Manziel thinks Lamar Jackson should stay away from the Browns (video)
Johnny Manziel Says Lamar Jackson Will Win Heisman, BUT DON'T GO TO CLEVELAND! | TMZ Sports
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Where there is Johnny Manziel, there are cameras. Or maybe just TMZ. Whatever the case, the last Browns quarterback to win a game was spotted somewhere recently, so TMZ tossed some questions at him.
What started as a question about Cam Newton being disciplined for violating a team wardrobe policy turned into talk about Louisville's Lamar Jackson, a sophomore quarterback and the presumed Heisman Trophy frontrunner.
Whoever was asking the questions quickly put two and two together and came up with a question about Jackson and Cleveland.
I don't blame them. Alex Smith has shown time and time again he's not a big time QB. Not to mention the dude was already a dud for the 49ers for such a long time before that. I bet if Harbaugh would be given the choice, he'd do the entire thing over again with no hesitation.
But, that wasn't my point. My point is that SF made it to the Super Bowl w/Kap at qb. He stinks! And this all started w/the contention that you can't get to the Super Bowl w/Taylor.
Yep. Peyton Manning should go down as the greatest QB of all time, certainly the smartest, and he won a super bowl while being physically unable to throw further than 10 yards. You can still build teams that just needs the QB to put them in a position to win, as the team will carry itself and their QB to a win. I think that's what the Browns should start trying to do. I'm done wasting time on the thought that every 20 year old QB who comes here needs to become our savior in year one. That mindset is not good.

He was playing at an elite level when they went to the SB. Flacco is average, but when that playoff run, there was no one better.

I guess I don't see a point in adding another stop gap. We already have one in RGIII and Kessler is also on the roster.
The rebuild never really starts until the Browns draft their "franchise" guy.
People forget that Smith started the first 6 - 8 games for Frisco that year and they were like 5 - 1 .. 6 - 2 .. something around there .. he was having a really good year ...
They had a very good TEAM ...
Then Kap stepped in and had a great 1/2 season and playoff run ...
Smith was playing very very well before getting hurt and Kap coming in that year ...
The only guy I would want us to jerk around with from FA (only if we are not wowed by RG3) is Cutler.
I don't care what anybody says He stand in that pocket and throws accurate passes. He actually has been pretty good the last 4 years or so when he was healthy. He has been on some horrendous OL.
But he can get make the reads and quick release, great arm and accurate. He probably has 3 very good years left in him maybe more if we keep him upright.
Only guy I'm remotely interested in from FA...jmho
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Like the Jimmy Garoppolo trade market, reports are all over the place regarding the Bills’ plans for quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Most recently, Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News said that the sense emerging at the Scouting Combine is that the Bills will move on.
That may be a final decision, or it may be the next step in getting there. Ultimately, the decision should be made not by the Bills but by Taylor, if the Bills would be interested in keeping him at a reduced rate.
Here’s how it should happen (regardless of whether it will). The Bills should make their best offer to Taylor on a revised deal that pays less than $27.5 million fully guaranteed in 2017 with another $3 million of his 2018 salary fully guaranteed. Then, Taylor’s agent should gauge the market by finding out what other teams would pay Taylor if he’s available.
Would it be tampering for teams to respond? Yes. Does Taylor need to know what’s behind Door No. 2 before he rejects Buffalo’s Door No. 1 offer? Absolutely.
Although Taylor reportedly won’t accept a pay cut, if the Bills will offer him as much or more than anyone else to remain the starter, he should at least consider it. Ultimately, the Bills may be willing to pay Taylor far more than anyone else would.
There’s a chance that Buffalo could enter the bidding after the cord is cut and Taylor becomes a free agent. It seems to make more sense for everyone to work these details out in advance — especially with all teams and agents currently in Indianapolis for the annual effort to work out contracts and other contingencies regarding player acquisitions.
INDIANAPOLIS -- At least three teams are known to have an interest in signing Tyrod Taylor if the Buffalo Bills decide to release their quarterback, The Buffalo News has learned.
They are the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, and New York Jets, an NFL source said.
The NFL Scouting Combine here is when teams explore their options beyond what's available in the draft. The Browns, 49ers, and Jets have major questions at quarterback.
And if the Bills choose to not pick up the option in Taylor's contract, which would guarantee him $30.75 million, he would become available to be signed by any other club. A trade is also possible, but unlikely because the terms of Taylor's contract would still be in place.
On Wednesday, coach Sean McDermott said the Bills had yet to determine what to do about Taylor. He also said it was possible they could go all the way up to the March 11 deadline to make the call.
If they cut him, and Garoppolo is off the market, we basically have to go all in to get him. The other options at QB are so dreadful, it makes an above-average QB like Taylor a great option.

A great option unless the plan is to hit this year's and next years drafts out of the park and build a franchise whose strength will last a decade or longer. It all depends on what the FO's philosophy is. We don't know, They don't really communicate it. Not clearly. Not sure if they know.
If so, a band aid Tyrod Taylor win or two can make the difference of having a shot at Sam Darnold or whoever.
