I can't understand why they haven't been better... Don't know if it's coaching of SEc or what... In terms of why do kids go there..it's a great school in a great area that loves football in the SEC...

Location and Prestige. That's what wins recruits the most. All of those programs have strong histories and great location. Knoxville is about a half a day's drive from just about anywhere in the hotbed states. Even Florida isn't too bad of a drive. Georgia should speak for itself. Hotlanta makes some great football players. Oklahoma used to get all those farm boys and Texas athletes.

Those two things are the exact reason why Houston didn't get into the Big 12. Houston's a fine school for the south's standards, in a prime location, but it just doesn't have the prestige that Baylor and OK state do. It's a shame to see the Big 12 not accept them in an attempt to get Herman to leave. Since's he flipped to Texas, maybe that's not a bad thing for the conference, but you do have to wonder.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

A quote by Dungy in that article stuck with me.

"You're not trying to be respectable, you're trying to win National Championships"

You look at an Urban Meyer, he built up Utah, but after their first really good year, he left for Florida, where he built them up and won National Championships.

Then you look at a Brady Hoke, he built up SDSU, and then went to Michigan, and while he receuited very well, he just couldn't make it at that "level"

You are it more and more, I don't think there is one way to tell how good someone will be at a "bigger school"

Peterson had Boise State up there in the Top 10 consistently, and eventually left for Washington. I thought it was a mistake, but here he is in the playoffs, Pac 12 champs..

My brother and I miss the NCAA Football game, because we loved taking literally the worst schools, and competeing with each other to make them better, and maybe we took a better job along the way, or maybe we just tried to turn Weatern Kentucky into a power house..

I hate the conatant moving around of coaches in college, but I also really love the idea of it, it's weird..

Jim Harbaugh's staff at Stanford included David Shaw, D.J. Durkin, and Willie Taggart. All three are now head coaches at Power Five school, Shaw at Stanford, Durkin at Maryland, and Taggart at Oregon. (Taggart also played QB for Harbaugh's father at Western Kentucky.)

Does anyone know how Kareem Hunt is doing this year? He's one of the few watching for the first week of bowl games.

He's been fantastic in the games I've watched. I like watching Pumphrey of San Diego State.

not sure anybody watched the Heisman last night, but Johnny was on stage .. and then was tweeting videos later of him and Lamar Jackson in the hotel room together ... and then later pictures emerged of Johnny chugging alcohol. This all came after he told reporters his advice to Lamar would be to avoid Cleveland.

Not a good look for Lamar IMO.

I don't get why anybody would want to be associated with Manziel.

Me either ... it would seem like career/PR suicide

Former Texas coach Charlie Strong has agreed to a deal to become South Florida's next head coach, sources told ESPN.com.

Strong met with South Florida officials on Friday after having preliminary conversations by phone with school officials earlier in the week. He will replace Willie Taggart, who left to take the head coaching job at Oregon. Strong was also being pursued as a defensive coordinator by several schools around the country.

Glad he got another job. He got shafted by Texas. I was hoping he'd come to the Big 10.

Lane Kiffin (douche) starts his FAU career off by signing a player that was dismissed for punching a woman in the face (super douche)

Nice hire.
