rofl Whatever...I'm still betting this nut (the pastor in the article) doesn't believe in science either. [/quote/}

Seeing that abiogenesis (which is a necessity for Ontological naturalism to stand) has less likelihood than flying reindeer, perhaps the conflict is not between the bible and science, but rather between two opposing belief systems.

Note. I am not defending the actions of thepastor in this video,

The bible when correctly exegetes does not conflict at all with science when science has not been infected with the intellectual virus of ontological naturalism

Use proper exegesis with the bible and remove a philosophical construct (ontological naturalism) from science that doesn't belong, and no conflict at all

So what? I could care less about what your philosophical BS thinks the bible says. All I said was this nut probably doesn't believe in science either. And I'm sticking to it. Good day.

I love having this argument every year. thumbsup It's become a bit of a tradition around here, the only real question is what "incident" is going to start it.

I see no harm, zero harm, in having your children believe in a person who represents absolute joy and goodness in an otherwise mean and cynical world... and that the gifts come from him... and then later transferring that to the fact that, while that person doesn't really exists, his spirit lives in all of us...

LONG LIVE SANTA!!!!!!

I honestly don't know if I ever believed in Santa. If I did, I was dumb, as mom and dad had the presents under the tree a week or so before we had Christmas.

Plus, we (they) heated our house with a wood burning stove. Poor Santa wouldn't have ever made it to anyone else's house.

Nah, I never believed in Santa, and even if I had, it wouldn't have affected me in the least once I realized Santa was just like the tooth fairy.

I don't believe either of my kids believed in Santa either.

I don't lie to her about Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Jack Frost or Bigfoot. So, my stance isn't about Christianity, it's about being truthful with my daughter.

^Assuming you were point to me specifically about lying about some things and being truthful about other things...not just anyone doing that.

I played a gig tonight aat a church just outside of Napoleon, OH.

Dude in the audience looked just like 'The Coca Cola Santa.' White hair. Huge, white beard. Rosy cheeks- the whole nine yards. Word spread throughout the band... and by intermission, everyone onstage had seen 'Napoleon Kringle.'

Everyone in the band was a 'believer,' for at least a moment or two. Dude looked authentic to the max... minus about 100 lb of body fat.

During intermission, the church that sponsored our gig held a 'punch & cookies' reception in the fellowship hall. As I was making my way back to the sanctuary (where the concert was being held), someone grabbed my sleeve. I turned to acknowledge... and it was 'Napoleon Kringle!"

"Dude.... are you gonna do that 'speaking thing, like you did last year?"

(I'd narrated a piece for spoken voice and Orch a year ago)

"Sorry... I'm not featured at this year's concert-"
"Bummer, dude- that thing you did last year was fun... I recognized you as soon as we sat down."

*I then glanced over at 'Mrs. Claus'... she was smokinhot- about 20-25 years younger than NapKringle, and dressed to KILL, with white fluff trim around her red velvet ensemble. Hourglass figure. Perfect make-up job. Long, black hair, cascading in loose curls over her shoulders... *ouch*.

"Uh... thanks. And thanks for coming out again this year..."
"Wouldn't miss this for the world! So- can we expect another talking tune from you next year?"
"You never know- maybe-"
"SUPER!!! Me & The Missus will be back next time!"

***********

I had a direct line of sight to 'Napoleon Kringle' and his babe for the entire gig, both before and after the intermission. When the concert had concluded, we all reached down to don silly-azz hats, etc. to play the encore: Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride."

Swear to God: we've done this so often over the years, it literally takes us 5 seconds to put on the gear and get ready to play the piece.

When I looked up.... 'Napoleon Kringle' had gained about 100 lb, was sitting there in a Santa hat- and 'Smokinhot' had gained the same amount of body weight, with snow-white hair, and a matching hat.

5 seconds.

Not sayin, folks... just postulatin',
Clemmy.

If Nap Kringle is the guy I'm thinking of - great guy. Plus, he's a volleyball official, and a softball umpire. You weren't at St. Paul's Lutheran, were you?

Don't know - I've never met his wife. I (and others) like to harass him some at v-ball and softball.

You saying you bet he doesn't believe in science is equivelant to me saying that I bet you believe ontological naturalism is science. Just an accusation without any basis. Good day

I wouldn't do what the preacher in the video is doing. I would rather preach the gospel. But what evidence do you have that he doesn't believe in science ( and please don't confuse science with the philosophical tenets of ontological naturalism when and if you respond
