Just finished watching the game against Mexico, USA wins 2-1! Should've been at least 3-1, but we missed some great opportunities. Once a game summary shows up I'll post it here (and the videos of the USA goals too - they were awesome today.)

Anyway - Gold Cup champions!

Copa America starts on Thursday, but the US isn't sending their best players, so don't expect much.

3-1? Should have been more like 4 or 5-1 but a win is a win

Right now I am mourning the loss of Thierry Henry so it is hard to celebrate this win.

Congrats to the USA team - you have some world class players in that team. Why are the US not sending their strongest squad to the Copa America?

King - I think the Henry deal is a shrewd piece of business by the Gunners. I know he is your favourite player but think about it.

1. Henry is coming of a injury plagued season
2. he will soon be 30
3. £16m is alot of money to play with
4. and the real clincher for me is the players the Arsenal have coming through - Van Persie, Walcott, Adebayor the future is looking very good irrespective of what the media says.

Because Copa America isn't the championship for the region that the US plays in, clubs don't have to release players. So even if we wanted to take the best guys, they could be denied. It'll be a good experience for the young guys, and we certainly have a lot of young up-and-coming talent!

And for the women's team - I hate those new gold jerseys.

Now my question is about the under-20 World Cup that is about to take place. I knew of that rule that you mentioned but how are clubs able to restrict players from playing in the U-20 World Cup?

Obviously the person in question is Lionel Messi from Barcelona. Last I heard, they weren't going to release him to play in the cup and I did not notice his name on the National Team roster that was just announced. The under 20 World Cup is considered the 2nd largest tournament in the world so I find it odd that clubs must clear their players to play in it.

Con, I could be wrong, but I've heard that Messi wants to play for Italy and not the US. That might have something to do with it (as long as I'm thinking about the right guy.)

I'm excited to see what Adu can do at the U-20 World Cup. We need him to step big.

Messi would have been on the Argentina squad. He is commonly reguarded as the successor to Diego Maradona (Maradona himself has said this).

Giuseppe Rossi is the name I was thinking of. Born and raised in New Jersey, but he wants to play for the Azzuri.

I think Arsenal are on the slide mate, them top 2 are pulling away. Could you see Arsenal shelling out the same kind of dolly that Utd paid for Shrek? (had this convo earlier with a deluded Aussie Spurs fan who practically guaranteed a title for White Hart lane mob within 3 years citing much the same kind of reasons that you stated with the Arsenal players coming through.)

Dein has gone, one of the reasons Henry bailed was the uncertainty of Wenger's future. They been going downhill since Viera left....bad move that one.

It's worth being away from it all come new season time.....i don't miss millions of Liverpool fans convinced that "this is our year".....again.

Now....about time some rich American Billionaire invested in a cracking little venture in East Anglia.....snazzy yellow and green strips and so on and so forth.

I agree there is a gulf after the top 2 of Man Utd and Chelsea - but instead of this growing I think it is getting smaller. With the amount of foreign investment being pumped into the premiership it will lead to a much more competitive title race.

West Ham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and now we are looking at Everton, Man City and countless others being the focal point of new investment.

The real loser in this is the England National team and the players coming through. It sucks to watch a premiership match and there being only 3 players eligible for the England team!!

As for the Arsenal - there real problem was not replacing Bergkamp and Pires. I am not convinced that Viera was the start of their problems - only that the departuer of Dein led to the Henry saga. I think their future is bright with all the youngsters coming through.

And as for your 'snazzy yellow and green strips' don't Ipswich play in Blue?

I agree with you Englishdawg and thanks for the encouraging words. I said last year that Arsenal has been on a bit of a youth movement and is going to be really strong coming up soon. They have actually copmeted and done rather well head to head with the other top premiership teams there problem this year(besides injuries) seemed to be losing to or drawing with the teams they should have beaten easily. I contribute this to youth.

I think for the teams future maybe the Henry move might have been for the best but right now i just feel kind of hurt and betrayed.
