While I may be a small part of it, I'm sick of it. When people say things that are just dumb, I guess I should use more self control.

The good news here: My dad is a cancer survivor. Diagnosed 11 months ago. Diagnoses as cancer free 1 month ago.

I challenge everyone to share good news in this thread. No politics, no race, no football "I know more than you", "I watched tape" crap.

Good news, about you, or your family, or the country......whatever.

Lol@ I watched tape.

Way to be subtle, bro.

Anyway, one more semester and my first degree is done. Supply chain management.

Congrats on your Dad being cancer free!

I'm starting a new eCommerce site. Not a gaming site. Just a regular kind of site of a type that doesnt exist in its niche. Vague, I know. But it will be fun to build in my spare time.

My son was selected to go to Hungary for 3 weeks in February on a student teacher exchange program sponsored by the EU. All expenses paid. The only drawback is that he'll miss our annual Super Bowl party.

Dude, My comment about watching tape had nothing to do with you. Nothing, AT ALL.

On to the thread.

My son was able to spend a weekend up here for Christmas. Also, he's 2 semesters away from becoming a Nurse Practitioner.

I remember you talking about him and colleges screwing him over. I'm glad he's receiving his just due. He's worked his ass off to deserve it based on what you've said.

After getting divorced 5 years ago, and remarried 3 years ago, I am happy that things turned out for the better. The divorce was not my choice, but I am thrilled with the outcome

I bought a new house on the west side of Columbus (Galloway) so I don't have to spend 3 hours of my life driving my son back and forth to school when I have him. I now have an 8 minute drive to drop him off at his bus stop - I'm not sure why I didn't do this sooner....

The house is on 6.3 acres, which having some land is something I've always wanted. It was pretty much move-in ready, just replaced the carpet and had the garage floor epoxied. I've been in it for two weeks and it has been great. Just getting everything wired (ethernet, home automation, electric) the way I want it now which is very time consuming but I'm getting there!

Hadn't been able to urinate properly (not even close to the realm of normal) since early September due to a urological issue. Finally had the surgery a week ago. Now, life is a bit more enjoyable. I'll never take this particular capability for granted again.

Great stuff.

I passed the extremely difficult Diamond Level Liberty Tax Test in October.

It’s a four hour, 120 multiple choice questions test on Corporate, Partnership, Estates and Trust taxation. I studied daily for a couple months for it. And you had to get a 80+% to pass. (I squeaked by with an 83%)

The test was made harder by the act I’ve never done any of these tax returns.

And probably never will. I just do “the man off the street” 1040s.

But my boss’ boss is impressed (the franchise owner) and I’m back for my 4th year as an income tax preparer next week.

The grueling 3 ½ month tax season is almost upon us.

I love spending snowy days with a pot of coffee busy at a desk doing tax returns nonstop.

As people come off the street in their winter coats and hats and my female hispanic coworkers chatter nonstop in Puerto Rican. (kind of a slang espanol)

Oh and I’ve been studying Spanish everyday from the online site Duolingo since August and I’m currently rated at 46% fluent. So this year I’ll know what my coworkers are saying.

Won’t they be surprised the first time I say “HEY!!! I HEARD THAT!!!”

Hey AZ,

I had to "cathe" myself everyday for ~ a year back in 2010(an average of 8 times a day and always 2-3 times over night).

Boy did that suck wicked. And my former Urologist said I'd have to do that the rest of my life. (you thread a tube into your bladder to empty it - take it from your pal rockyhill - this is very far from pleasant)

But fortunately my former Urologist is an idiot (or simply incompetent) and my older brother had bladder surgery in Cleveland and his Urologist told him about Kegel exercises.

I started doing Kegel exercises daily in May 2010 and three months later I could pee again.

This was a huge quality of life improvement.

Many Urologists (I shouldn't pick on Urologists - let's say doctors) are arrogant, incompetent and/or greedy.

Remember. Trouble peeing?

Kegel Exercises.

Still alive... one bout of Cancer and a Triple A and I'm still standing.. I guess that's pretty good news right?

Anyway, I'm very happy to hear about your father, Been there, done that and let me tell you about the personal weight that gets lifted...

Best to him.

Glad to ear about your Dad Arch cool

I have lots of Good news. My cancer is still in remission. I now have two years down and three to go before they will call me cancer free and I beat the 15 to 18 percent chance to live five years from the date of my diagnosis.

I have my speech back 100 percent, that my third stroke tried to take away.

I have 90 percent of the use of my right side back that the second stroke took away banghead It's just weaker, and I lost some range of motion, and fine motor skills in the right hand.

My Ascending aortic aneurysm has not gotten any larger.
I am back to working part time from home.
My long term memory is working well.
As of last Saturday I am allowed to lift more than 10 pounds now since I am healed up from the last surgery.

The best news of all... The Browns won a game. thumbsup

I hear you about the catheter.
In fact, it was over-catheterization, and a few clumsy instances by less than qualified nurses during a handful of previous procedures, that resulted in the troublesome strictures and scar tissue inside me to begin with.

While I understand your enthusiasm about a win, everything else you've been through and conquered is vastly better. Any one of those victories by itself is vastly better than a Browns win.

Both of my Sons underwent surgery last Friday. One had his leg crushed by a fork truck, the other had a bowl rupture causing sepsis leaving him paralyzed from the waste down. Six months of fighting off and killing the infection before they could finally go in and fix things.

Both surgeries were very successful. Now rehab can begin.

Let's see ....

I am still breathing in and out, so that's good.

I can walk, and even though I am sometimes wobbly, I am not confined to a wheelchair as some people are.

I gave another sermon at my church on the 18th of December. That was a real honor, giving the message during Advent.

God keeps bringing me closer to Him, and teaches me something new each and every day.

I am learning both French and Spanish, and am probably about 40% or so fluent in both. I learn a little more every day.

God willing, I will be starting piano lessons in February.

My mom, and really my whole extended family, are all in good health.

After a real scare with my (twice operated on) left eye, I have my vision back to normal.

I have some really great friends.

I am truly blessed.

After having my prostrate and all 6 lymph nodes removed 2 months ago I went for my 1st blood test to detect my PSA level a week ago today.

I received my results today. I'm clean and green and good to go with a level of "Undectable".

What is a "good" strike out to at bat ratio? (thinking softball here.)

Strike outs to at bats. This isn't pro ball, but it is good h.s. softball.

At practice last night, my daughter apparently got called out: Coach: "Sooga, you had 75 at bats last year. Do you know how many times you struck out?"

Sooga said "I don't know, 30?"

The rest of the team laughed saying "That's almost half the time, you didn't do that." (they were giving her a hard time - supporting her)

Coach said "No, not 30. 5. You struck out 5 times in 75 at bats."

She had walks, of course, and ground outs and fly outs, obviously. But she made contact with the ball. (she had the best batting average on the team as well. Now, this was j.v. softball, ok?)

That's one of the things I love about her. She has no arrogance about her what so ever.

Duolingo is an excellent site.

I had hit the 56& mark in Spanish and the 61% mark in French. I have slipped a bit in Spanish, because I am not doing 5 sections/day, as I now most of the stuff in their Spanish section.

I am now learning Italian, and am, supposedly, 18% fluent. I doubt that .... but I can mutter through many sentences. It's funny how the different languages have so much in common, but then throw you a complete curve. like how "demande" in French means "ask", and "embarazada" meas "pregnant" ... and "bombero" in Spanish means "firefighter" ... have a "constipado" is having a cold, and a "comprimiso" is a "commitment".

There are so many words that sound like English words, and mean the same ... but then these "false fiends" pop up and throw a monkey wrench into the whole works. Oh well, I hope that your exito is largo, and that you stay sano throughout this season, and that your co-workers can "soportar" you when you know what they are saying. wink

Oh, and don't freak out of you have a French client and he says that it looks like you are going to need a new "casquet" soon, or says that you have really nice "bras". rofl Oh, and if you go into a French restaurant, make sure you don't ask which food comes without "preservatif". rofl

I got engaged a couple weeks ago!

Not only do I get an amazing woman, I get 3 of the kindest, sweetest step daughters anyone could ask for. 12,11, and 9 (going on 20). The 9yr old told all her friends at school for the first 3 months my name was Sassy Pikachu. She definitely keeps me in check.
