Trubisky has better pocket awareness, willingness to step up in a pocket, and a better release. Watson looks to run whenever he can. Trubisky doesn't unless it's a designed run.

But your comments have already been proven false. Go look at the Watson thread with the breakdowns.

Watson has stepped into the pocket, took big hits to deliver the throws. And yes he takes off, it's better than taking unnecessary sacks like Trubisky did today.

The NFL game is too fast for QB's to be standing back there like statutes. Dak has the best o line in the game and he still has to take off.

If you wanted the typical QB size who takes unnecessary sacks with televised throwing motions, then you are saying that you wish we kept Brandon weeden. Because they are the exact same person. He does not have a better release. And pocket awareness is again subjective. Cause it definitely didn't look that well today.

So Watson is excelling with talent around him? How is that somehow a knock on him? We talk about that everyday in pure football. Ya know, surrounding your QB with talent to succeed.

Watson is simply more talented and more experienced.

And he also shows up in big games.

I think somebody is gonna reach on Trubisky in the first.

And I think a team might give up a first or 2nd for Jimmy G.

In both cases, I hope it isn't us.

I just don't see what you see in Watson. Half the time his throws are all over the place.

Trub has way better footwork and throwing mechanics. He isn't anything like Weeden either. I mean Trub is normally VERY accurate and with great touch on his passes. He takes the game of scrub WR and makes them look adequate but really they are not. Watson gets bailed out of a lot of bad passes by great WRs.

I don't think ANY qb is this draft is worth a first round pick. The ONLY one that shows an NFL skill set though is Trub and he definately needs a year or two.

It's really sad that this is the best we can choose from. If Jimmy G were in this years draft he would easily be the top QB in the draft and it would not even be close. IF we are using a first round pick on a QB Jimmy G should be the one we take hands down. He would have immediate impact and none of the QB's on our team could even close to competing with him.

Brady doesn't just take off and run. He's still the best in the NFL too. QBs must stand in the pocket, make reads, and throw. Want to know what happens when you take off? You get performances like Cam Newton in the super bowl. All it takes is athletic LBs to neutralize a QB running and there's a LOT of them.

Trubisky took unecessary sacks? Are you unaware of what Solomon Thomas was doing today?

The weeden comparison is just rubbish (nicest word I will say).

Do you think having elite NFL talent around you will make you look better than a guy with lesser talent around them?

Once again, the "big game" garbage narrative. You know who else showed up in big games? Tim Tebow, Troy Smith, Johnny Manziel, Colt McCoy, a bunch of garbage Alabama QBs, and etc. You know who lost a lost of big games in college? John Elway and Peyton Manning.

I don't know if they will fall out of the 1st entirely, but I do question whether or not there is a guy who could be worth a top 10 pick, or not. I tend to lean towards "not". I would suggest that we trade back into the 1st for a 3rd 1st rounder, if we hadn't had such lousy luck doing so for a QB. Regardless, I would rather take 2 real impact players with our 2 current 1sts, and then maybe trade back into the 1st for a QB, if there is a QB we like around the middle of the draft.

Forcing a QB pick is the worst thing a team can do.

1. Trabisky should not be an overall #1 pick but its QB so that is going to be hard to predict. I'm realistically hoping that we can take him with the #10 pick (Eagles). But if history has anything to say - he will climb up the slots with Combine and private workout stuff.

2. I think the kid will be a Franchise QB.

3. I really like his solid base which helps him take on hits.

4. He seems to have excellent pocket awareness and has that natural ability to slide in the pocket and maintain a good base to transfer weight with his throws.

5. He has a strong accurate arm with a nice quick release.

6. A lot of teams I watched looked a bit rusty.

7. Just remember almost all QBs will go before their time cause it is the holy grail. If we decide he is the ONE...then get him at whatever cost but not multiple pick cost.

8. RG3 starts in 2017, Kessler the Backup and Trubisky as the Knight in training...when he is ready unless RG3 has a winning streak going...make the change hopefully for a 10+ year run.

I liked him a lot...but hope his few mistakes will make him safe for us to pick at number 10???

Just remember this draft is going to be a strong strong defensive class. Take the QB early and then heavy in numbers with the D! possibly an OLman if he is a stud in the 2nd round!

When a college quarterback has only thirteen starts mistakes are part of his game:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...nts-in-sun-bowl

At the same time there is no doubt about his potential.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...ky-no-1-overall

Because of the draft order those at the top are almost always those that need quarterbacks; hard to see the QB needing teams pass on him.

The Browns will have plenty to think about.

Trubisky looks the part, he has the size and the arm strength along with a quick release, and he seems pretty accurate in his throws, but my biggest thing I like is he is a Cleveland kid, which will give him extra incentive to bring a winner to the Browns, he already said he would love to play for the Browns, so if we take him at #1 I would be ok with the pick ... thumbsup

Sadly we might have to pick him at #1 to get Trub. I just don't think he is ready for it and will suffer setbacks from it. If we did take him #1 the VERY next pick better be an OT then center, and then guard. WHY?! because if you're going to invest that high a pick in QB you better try to keep him in one piece instead of in the hospital like ALL our QBs end up being.

I agree Razor, I think we should at least take one with the next pick and then maybe a couple in the 3rd and 4th, I like the OT from Bama and Elflein the Center from tOSU with our 2nd 1st if we take the QB at #1 thumbsup

Raz, I agree the OL as it stands today is putrid.

Maybe there will be some decent guys in FA. We have money and I love experience in offensive linemen.

In addition I would like to use the draft to build defense.

Watching Trubisky yesterday you could not help seeing Solomon Thomas. He put on a show.

I have only seen him in that game but he flat out left a mark.

The Browns have many needs. The players drafted last and the ones to be drafted in 2017 have to contribute.

The hill looks mighty steep.

I would honestly only take Trub in the first and I would not start him year one if at all possible. I would take Desean at around round 2.

At #10 it's too early to draft a center. but the start of round two is fine or maybe even a trade back up into the bottom of the first. Elflein could be great at guard or center.

Cam Robinson might be gone at #10 too but he might last due to his off field issues. I very much worry about those off field issues too but the kid is so talented and would be a perfect RT.

I don't know why people are so wound up over him being a Cleveland area kid.

People loved that Charlie Frye was an Akron kid. People loved that Brady Quinn was an Ohio kid, who grew up a Browns fan.

What did that get us?

Either the kid can play, or he can't. The rest is "feel good", but completely unimportant.

SEASON.......CMP.......ATT.......YDS.......CMP%.......YPA.......LNG.......TD.......INT.......SACK.......RAT

Trubisky.......304.......446.......3748.......68.2........8.40........75.........30........6..........20........158.3

Watson.........352......523.......4173.......67.3........7.98........65.........38........17.........13........151.8

The glaring difference in their season stats appears to be the interceptions.

Don't you figure you're going to see a ton statements, some of which you'll agree, some of which you won't, about who and when we should draft various individuals between now and April?

We don't even know where our final draft positions yet, so not "getting it" seems a bit premature. They've not even opened the draft forum yet.

I'm going to throw some drivel around right now. Am I nuts thinking this?

He's got ONE year experience. I HATE that. BUT.

You know how everyone hates the Spread Offenses these guys come from. You bring a guy in who has maybe 3 full years of starting. Developed bad habits and rarely under center.

With Trubisky he's only done it for ONE year as a starter. Get him out of their and fix those problems while working in that same PRO style offensive system that we scream for college coaches to use.

Make sense? Much like Wentz.

I've said that consistently. Playing multiple years in a spread, developing bad habits, and coaches not really concerned with fixing your issues as much as trying to win despite the issues. That's not a good combination.

You will always have your QB or bust crowd.

I am starting to think Allen might be our guy. Either Garret or Allen and I am good. If Mitch falls to our next pick, then maybe, but even then I think there are going to be some corners, safties that will be hard to pass. Heck, I could see us double dip on D line if Barnett is there.

I don't get all the love for the qbs in this draft, being the best qb in a very weak class does not a franchise qb make. I think it's just we haven't had one so our desperation is bleeding through, Watson, trubisky, Kizer would have been late 2nd-5th rounders in a normal draft class. The true NFL qb is dying out in college. Until one of two things happen, they change, or NFL qbs die out to make way for the spread qbs. I just hope there's not that desperation in the FO and they trust their board and take Garrett or Allen first. If they take one of these qbs coming out we will be set back again

I want my QB. We will always suck until we get a good young QB. Garett did not impress me. I only watched him in his bowl game and he did nothing but block an extra point.
Alen was very good in Alabama's game. Washington could not run his side. Not to much pass rush.
Now is the time to start grooming a young QB. Alan & Garett do not add many wins right off either.

There are some things I like about Watson. His experience is a plus. It shows. He plays with confidence and displays leadership on the field. He appears very much in control.

He is an excellent all around athlete. Nothing wrong with his arm. He has played against good teams and won big games.

Before the season he was on top most draft boards. To a degree I think he has been disrespected. Sometimes expectations on college players are way out of line. He has had an excellent college career.

Watson most likely will be drafted in the first round. I don't see him sliding past the second.

At the same time I doubt he will be in the Browns future.

I think Watson is a great athlete with a strong arm. He also has good character from what I've read. He doesn't give up either.

That's about all I can say positively.

Quarterback grade: Mitch Trubisky, 72.6

Trubisky flashes arm strength

Mitch Trubisky completed 24 of 38 pass attempts for 283 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Tar Heels QB flashed his arm strength, completing five of his 14 attempts of 20 yards or more downfield (with two drops) for 142 yards and a touchdown. When under pressure, Trubisky completed four of his eight pass attempts for 46 yards.

There was a lot of rust in many of the college games after the holidays. I don't think his evaluation will be on one game. Sort of surprised you would have stated that. Usually you are the one scolding a poster for a one game evaluation.

I don't think he has #1 overall pick status. But as we know if we like a guy and usually so does the entire NFL that is where we would have to pick him - IF HE IS THE GUY.

Btw I saw the next great QB possibly to come out next year and picked overall #1. Sam Darnold of USC. Next year cause he will have his Sophmore Red Shirt Year. Which would be 3 seasons since HS making him eligible for the draft.
Timing is every thing, obviously no way we get the #1 pick next year. Arrrghhh

We are in that predicament...We do not have our franchise QB...so we have to overpay in draft pick to get one. The longer we wait the more likely we get a Kessler, McCoy, Manziel, the Dak's in this world are once in a blue moon.

I wouldn't pick him with our 1st pick but say we trade down and pick up a 2 and 4 this year and a 1 next year and Trubisky is there then I would take him or I would take him at 12 ... We need a Franchise QB and I think this kid could be just that ... JMHO
