Can't wait to see what holes ya'all will find with this one ... All i really have to say at this point is: Thank U President Elect Trump ... keep up the GREAT WORK ... it's nice to be winning again ... i'm not even close to sick of it yet ... so keep on keepin on Donald ... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/...p-policies.htmlFord to scrap Mexico plant, invest in Michigan; [bold]CEO cites Trump policies[/bold] Ford Motor Company announced Tuesday it will cancel a $1.6 billion plant planned for Mexico and will instead invest $700 million in a Michigan assembly plant, directly tying the decision to “pro-growth policies” championed by President-elect Donald Trump. Before he's even taken office, President-elect Donald Trump has proven to be quite the job creator. ADVERTISEMENT Ford Motor Company announced Tuesday it will cancel a $1.6 billion plant planned for Mexico and will instead invest $700 million in a Michigan assembly plant, directly tying the decision to “pro-growth policies” championed by President-elect Donald Trump. Trump had previously been critical of Ford’s plans to build in Mexico. After the announcement, Trump tweeted a link to a story about the Ford decision and then added in a subsequent message: "Instead of driving jobs and wealth away, AMERICA will become the world's great magnet for INNOVATION & JOB CREATION." CEO Mark Fields, speaking at an event at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant, said the policies that Trump “and the new Congress have indicated they will pursue” were vital to the company’s decision. “We believe these tax and regulatory reforms are necessary to boost U.S. competitiveness,” Fields said. Tuesday's announcement was the latest in a string of pre-inauguration successes for Trump in the manufacturing sector. In early December, air conditioner and furnace maker Carrier agreed to stay in Indiana after weeks of negotiations headed by Vice President-elect Mike Pence. The decision reportedly saved about 700 jobs that would have been shifted to Mexico. Later in the month, wireless provider Sprint and Internet company OneWeb announced they would be adding thousands of jobs in the U.S. Both companies are controlled by SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son, who had previously met with Trump. Earlier Tuesday morning, Trump took aim at another auto giant: General Motors. "General Motors is sending Mexican made model of Chevy Cruze to U.S. car dealers-tax free across border. Make in U.S.A. or pay big border tax!" Trump tweeted. GM, however, quickly pushed back on Trump's assertions. "GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S." a statement said. The investment in the Flat Rock plant is set to create 700 jobs, according to Fields. The money, which was taken from the $1.6 billion earmarked for the Mexico plant, will be used to open a new factory that will build high-tech autonomous and electric vehicles as well as the Mustang and Lincoln Continental, the company said in a press release. "I am thrilled that we have been able to secure additional UAW-Ford jobs for American workers," UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles said in the release. "The men and women of Flat Rock Assembly have shown a great commitment to manufacturing quality products, and we look forward to their continued success with a new generation of high-tech vehicles."

So they are essentially doing this based off of the assumption that the tax rate will be lowered, correct?

I know u HATE the ENTIRE STORY but U will have to eliminate the parts U don't like on your own ... To answer your question ... The tax rate being lowered is PART OF IT .... says so right in the article ... I know where your going with that ... u can get there by leaving at least half the story out all by yourself ... don't try and get me to do it for u .. Nice try though ... *L* ... ENTIRE story GOOD ... 1/2 story BAD ...

There's got to be a "hook" candy .. and so far in both deals (Carrier and this one) Trump has a hook ... Ford and Carrier are both INVESTING money as part of ... well Carrier has a deal ... Ford has a promise and a handshake ... but anyhow .. Trump has them both INVESTING there money in their respective locations ... thats a hook ... you'll get what u want but your going to have some skin in the game also ... U know what ... these aren't really comparable ... need more info on what actually happend with Ford ... oh well ... that don't change the FACT that we have a hook with Ford also .. To me ... thats the part as a business guy I like ... BUILT IN ACCOUNTABILITY (or as close to it as u can come) ... I can't even begin to imagine what the last week of Jan and the month of feb are going to be like .. it should be really hard to keep track of everything thats going to happen ... I for one can't wait ...

At this point I can only theorize (if that's the right word?) that Ford must have facilities here that can be altered (retro fitted?) to make these electric and self driving cars here, as opposed to spending $1.6 billion to build in Mexico. I would guess the possible tax decrease played into it?

I'm sure companies are also chomping at the bit to be able to save money by polluting at will once the EPA is taken over by a guy that hates the EPA. That's what those 'regulations' are that they speak of. You know, pesky carbon scrubbers for their smoke stacks, and waste water filter systems. Stupid costly stuff like that they don't need in places like Asia and Mexico. I mean who cares who dies of cancer or lead poisoning and such as long as they have jobs? Don't get me wrong, good for Detroit. I just hate that it takes massive tax breaks and loose regulations in order for American companies to want to stay in this country. The country in which they built their company. It's grossly unpatriotic. And I'm generally not patriotic.

Alot more goes into the equation that the tax reduction .... thats common knowledge ... there's much more going on to decrease fords cost here (and the rest of america's dwindling manufacturing and other industies) ... Don't just focus on the taxes ... my guess is ... the taxes are a small portion of the overall savings that different policies will bring about ... This is so EXCITING to speculate about ... there's so many different roads to go down here ... the options are literally endless ..

The US population is way too smart and intelligent to invest for jobs in manufacturing when our STEM fields are only scratching the surface of their respected fields. Congratulations on new jobs though. I hope they focus on hiring the older communities.

I would guess the possible tax decrease played into it? Ford says it will spend $700 million to create such a facility as an add on to an existing factory. Ford's Fields also pointed out that the company could do well with a more positive U.S. manufacturing business environment under Trump. "We see the pro-growth policies that he's proposing. So, this is a vote of confidence in what we think the president-elect is going to pursue and it's right for our business," he said. http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/03/ford-ceo-...-not-trump.html

Do you have inside info on these "massive" tax breaks? What "loose regulations" are you talking about specifically? The epa is going to delete current regulations? What links do you have to your assertions?

There is a problem with this. For those of you that don't know, the Flat Rock Plant is in Detroit.Adding 600 jobs will not make a dent in problems facing Detroit.Plus it's going to be difficult to determine who should get those jobs and then add in the extra pollution that 600 additional commuters will bring. What a mess. I believe it would be better to follow Hillary's plan and allow Ford to build that factory in Mexico.Pollute their water and air, that'll show 'em.

What is up with your ridiculous rants every time I make a viable observation?
You keep crying about half truths when all I did was make the statement that they are coming back with the assumption that the tax rate will be lowered.
You were one of the main ones last year complaining about the corporate tax rate, even after pointing out that very few of these corporations pay that rate.
So now when I make the statement that they are coming back with the hope of the tax rate being lowered, something that YOU support, all of a sudden I'm telling half truths?
You need to seriously chill out. I didn't slam Ford. I didn't slam trump in this article. All I did was state the obvious, and once again, you got #triggered.

It is necessary because the taxes and regulations are what has killed he manufacturing sector. Leftist will start screaming corporate welfare as usual, never thinking about the revenue coming in from income taxes from working citizens. Kennedy did similar things and tax revenues increased, Reagan also did this type f thing, and it led to the longest and greatest economic growth this country has ever seen. As for the pollution, todays technology has decreased pollution considerably. I work in the water treatment industry, and have seen first hand that the water returning to the Ohio River from many plants, is actually cleaner than what is pumped out of the river. I always find it funny that "environmental activists" are more than happy to let countries that have no regulations pollute at will, while condemning any American country that does a fraction of the polluting. As if that air stays in their countries, but yet said our pollution was traveling across the ocean and causing acid rain in Europe. As for the scrubbers, the local coal plants had spent billions of dollars to be compliant, only for the Obama regime to move the goal post and make it necessary to close many over costs. I live in an area that was one of the biggest steel produce in the world. Many spent billion to clean up their act, and the difference was vey noticeable. But like good leftists always do , they just came up with more and more regulations, basically with the objective to shut these plants down permanently, and they succeeded.

That's also the problem I see potentially with all corporations. It's common knowledge that these politicians feel the EPA is stunting growth. They've stated over and over again that they want to deregulate energy production and deregulate the EPA when it comes to manufacturering. Here's an article: http://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-trump-promises-deregulation-of-energy-production-1474566335Here's what ford' CEO just said today: In a webcasted press conference Tuesday morning, Ford CEO Mark Fields didn’t parse words about the reason for the Michigan investment, attributing the decision directly to tax and regulatory proposals tabled by the GOP-led Congress and supported by President-elect Donald Trump. “We believe these tax and regulatory reforms are necessary to boost U.S. competitiveness,” Fields said during the conference. Trump and his allies in Congress are proposing steep corporate tax cuts and have committed to dismantling regulations they say are unfriendly to U.S. businesses. http://www.salon.com/2017/01/03/now-you-...d-deregulation/______ So, can someone explain to me how this isn't essentially bribery? We have to deregulate policies that helped us get clean air and water, and we also have to lower the tax rate that they already aren't paying..... For something that isn't even set in stone.

Well, the current prez himself held clandestine meetings with big pharma and the insurance comanies to hash out the details of the ACA.... and you're touting that as one of his major accomplishments.

I didn't back Trump, at all .... but I have to say that I cannot ever remember a President Elect, not even sworn into office, working, directly, to save jobs. (and to bring jobs in/back as well)
I don't think that the people who will either start, or continue getting paychecks as a result of the things he has done, are all that concerned that he is working out revisions in the tax rates. They get a paycheck, and that is what most people want.
I am actually getting a little hopeful that he will be able to improve the economy. He definitely seems more than willing to roll up his sleeves and dig in.

I thought the guy was a complete joke. Even thought (and posted) before the primaries began that as soon as they did begin, he was a goner. Never expected him to win, I thought the Clinton machine was too big.
Now after the dust settles, I'm pleasantly surprised at his appointments and actions as pres elect and as long as this doesn't go to his head and he start feeling like emperor I'm good with it.
I like the twitter thing too, where he bypasses the press. Everyone is squawking about the Russians affecting our elections, what about the lame stream media influencing our elections? He beat them at their own game. Two points at least for that one.

I work in the water treatment industry, and have seen first hand that the water returning to the Ohio River from many plants, is actually cleaner than what is pumped out of the river. I'm going to go off an a tangent here, forgive me. Our town wants to re route a state route out of town. Basically, a by pass, using current county roads. Going from the turnpike south on county road 24, through fulton county, a small part of henry county, and about 10 miles in defiance county, to hook up with S.R. 24. Henry co. commissioners said no. Defiance county commissioners said no way, it would run right in front of a rural school. The township commissioners in the affected area of fulton county said no. They cited the rural road, proximity of homes and wells, the fact that it would run within 40 feet of a grain elevator.....ever watch tractors hauling grain? They aren't fast moving vehicles. But, all this, to get semi's out of town. After the town bought a building in order to pay someone to tear it down, in order to pay a company to widen the turn that all of a sudden "was causing a problem". I digress. The town administrator made a comment about the wells that would have to be re located. (he's an ex water plant operator) His comment: I wouldn't trust the water coming out of the wells any further than I could throw a building." Well, someone took him to task on that. Had an independent lab come and take samples of the water. Get this: The well water tested cleaner and purer than the town water. So - just one more example of why I don't trust much of what any gov't. tells me. Back to the discussion - sorry for the side bar.

My 1st 2 cars were a 1972 Grand Prix and a 1971 Grand Prix.
They are still my favorite cars I have ever owned.
My least favorite was a VW Rabbit that I owned for a week before it blew up.
