The Chargers fired Mike McCoy.

There are going to be a lot of jobs open this off-season (Bills, Rams, Jaguars, Broncos, and Chargers at least).

I also wouldn't be shocked if the Colts and 49ers fired their guys.

There are also talks of Sean Payton getting traded to the Rams.

Watch for Harbaugh to the Chargers if they move to LA

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

So are the Saints just going to go into complete tear down mode?

I cant assume Brees will be there much longer, they may trade him as well..

I don't know about that. They could hire Doug Marrone and keep many of the same things going on.

For the life of me, I don't understand why a college-level coach would leave the relative "job security" for a gig in the NFL.

since this is a coaches trend, i'll post the thoughts here.

i'm watching fans on social media cry about the Lions HC, talking about he needs to go.

i'm trying to figure out how?

The guy got them into the playoffs.

I see opportunity here. We should trade them Hue for Stafford. /purple

First off, Brees has a no trade clause.

Secondly, Brees contract voids after 2017, unless the Saints re-sign him...in which case they will owe him $18M in escalated bonus money that is currently assigned to 2018, 2019 and 2020. They are in cap hell with Brees, who if they fire/trade Payton, Brees can refuse to sign for less than top money. Even at 37, he is proving to be one of the top QBs in the NFL. They will have to pay to retain him beyond 2017.

But, as of right now, Brees is only going to cost the Saints $19M in 2017, so I don't see him going anywhere this year.

Regarding Chip Kelly....admittedly, back then I was excited by the prospect of him but, when he pulled all that crap at the interview/s I was glad we didn't take him. That spoke volumes about his character. Even Philly should have been wary of the guy. Instead they all thought they had one up on Cleveland. And, their 1st season they kinda did as he won 10 or so games but, if memory serves (without looking at google) didn't they trail off his 1st year either in the middle or down the stretch? Anyway, there is a sense of relief knowing that he has been a disaster. Not that we have been any better, mind you!

If Kelly returns to college I wonder if he will even be successful again? Many programs, both offensively and defensively, have caught up with it so, it's no longer as unique and exciting as it once was.

Kelly's ego simply got the better of him.

So, thus far, Buffalo, Jacksonville, San Diego, San Francisco, LA have fired coaches. Kubiak resigned (and I'm glad for him, with his health, that was a smart move)

Have I missed anyone. Did something happen in New Orleans? Saw nothing on their website. I suppose it's just speculation at this point.

I do believe I heard a rumor that Bruce Arians was thinking about stepping down.. I thought there was a health concern there as well. Maybe I was dreaming.

Not sure it would matter if we don't get a QB...LOL

McCoy probably wants to keep collecting his HC salary, unless he can do that AND take another NFL job.

Usually you still make the same, the Chargers would make up the difference between his HC salary and his OC salary. But he may just take a break and get paid anyway.

Can you trade picks for coaches right now? I thought any trades had to wait until 3/9/17 the start of the league year.

Wade Phillips contract is up with the Broncos and whoever their new head coach is gets to decide if they want him to return.

I am not in favor of firing anyone, but Wade Phillips is one guy I would go hard after.

(This scenario is completely unrealistic.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that only has to do with the CBA, which is with the NFLPA. The picks are the property of the franchise, so they wouldn't have to wait until the new league year starts to trade them for coaches, I don't believe. They just can't make any player moves.

Didn't the NFL prohibit picks for coaches? Seems like someone traded their #1 for a coach and the NFL came out and said no more after that one?

Some of you, far less politely, have insisted that the NFL has changed the rules to prohibit trades of head coaches.

The league office has confirmed that trades can indeed be made of head coaches.

“Except for head coaches and high-level club employees (club presidents, general managers, and persons with equivalent responsibility and authority), clubs are not permitted to exchange draft choices or cash for the release of individuals who are under contract to another organization,” the league’s anti-tampering policy states.

When coaches are traded, it doesn’t happen the same way players are traded. Typically the coach’s contract doesn’t get shipped to a new team. Instead, the two teams agree on compensation (draft picks and/or cash) that would be exchanged if the new team works out a contract with the coach. If that happens, the current team releases the coach in exchange for the compensation.

It seems like the teams that need coaches are all interviewing the same five or six guys.

I've seen Kyle Shanahan, Sean McDermott, Anthony Lynn, Dave Toub, and Vance Joseph for basically every opening.

Why would anyone interview Kyle Shanihan? I mean he sucks, right? lol

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Ok, Thank You for that. So, which is it? They say they can trade coaches and then say except Head Coaches and high level people? Maybe a HC who has GM duties?

No call for what? If he's going through a rough time maybe someone on hear can help a fellow out. A person doesn't usually slam everything around him unless he's going through a rough time. Just wondering. No offense meant to anyone.

Perhaps I misread or misunderstood your post. To me, it seemed way too personal and could have been better handled in a PM...
