Firstly, had I not brouight the hate,we wouldn't be arguing, and it's been way too long. I kinda needed one for old time sake. I didn't know it would be you,but all the better. We haven't had a real go around in way too long now.

Secondly, yes I'm on shakey ground, but it was far more for shock value than anything based in reality. Accept this yaer. As weak as your schedule was, combined with who you lost to,I think they are overhyped and overrated.

There's not a lot of sense in really arguing that point since you'll really actually be playingsomeone in your bowl game, I guess we'll see how you stack up against some real competition. No more fluff stats for your QB against second rate competition.

And I must ask you, since you guys seem to choke against top teir teams, how low should they drop when they fold against real competition yet again? All you need to do is look at their schedule and who did they really beat anyway?

Get your arse over to Pure Football and do something constructive rather than sit here and try to prop up a team with no credentials this season.

I don't really hate Notre Dame. But a guy has to raise a little hell once in a while to keep the juices flowing doesn't he?

Props goes to Brady Quinn(they had to give him something )......we all know besides the ND fans who the best player in college football was this year .His name is.......Troy Smith

But again much props to Quinn........he is from the GREAT STATE OF O-H-
I-O......Two Ohio boys in the Big Apple tomorrow at the Heisman ceremony...that to me is a beautiful thing!!!

Man, I can't believe that a thread with such a title has gone on for so long before I respond. For those of you that hate Brady, you have no reason OTHER than he plays for ND (and I hope you can admit that to yourselves). No doubt Troy has accomplished great things @ OSU. He is a great athlete, surrounded by great athletes. Troy could virtually lay an egg and still win ball games, that's what a good D does for you. Brady doesn't have that luxary. He has to carry his team every game to compete. Troy will win the Heisman and Brady will be a top 3 pick, but next year all of that doesn't mean poop.

I dont think that anybody hates Brady Quinn , I think it is fact that Notre Dame gets shoved down everybody's throat. Brady will be a Top 3 pick no doubt but I am not convinced he is going to be a standout at the next level. LSU will be a great measuring stick as that will easily be the best defense he has faced all year.

Next year it will be Jimmy Clausen

When it comes to discussions of Troy Smith as an NFL QB, I'm not sure the conventional wisdom is all that wise. If he lasts until the 2nd round, someone will be getting a steal, IMO. He is an accomplished QB who happens to be a great athlete, as opposed to say, Michael Vick, who is simply a great athlete trying to play QB. Concerns about his height should be allayed because of his mobility and his high release point. I'd be willing to bet he throws "taller" than guys who are 6-3 or 6-4. The mobility gives him the ability to find throwing lanes. What he has in addition to mobility, is a great arm, pocket awareness, field vision, and recognition skills. I keep thinking back to the 55 yard laser he threw to Robiskie for a TD vs PSU ... amazing. His other assets are his intangibles - big game ability, big play at a key point in a game ability, leadership, and a respect for the game learned the hard way. I seriously doubt he'll be selling insurance or anything else any time soon, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I purposely stayed away from talking about Quinn (even though it is a thread about him) because I only saw him play twice in the last year, not counting the highlights on ESPN, etc. I don't see this as an either/or discussion re Quinn and Smith being successful pros ... chances are they both will. My opinion is that Smith will be the better pro, but I'm willing to admit my bias toward O-State. Incidentally, I don't hate the Domers ... when I was a kid I planned on playing football on scholarship at either OSU or ND, whichever gave me the better car.

Compare their games against good teams with defenses which are more NFL style and it isnt even close. However, it also depends on what kind of situation they land in. It seems that sometimes that predicates how they turn out but other times it doesnt affect it at all.

My money is on Troy.

Somebody is going to get a Tim Couch in this upcoming draft and somebody is going to get a Tom Brady.

LSU will be a great measuring stick for ND as a whole. If passes are dropped as they were against USC, we all know the outcome will be similar.
And Assassin, it's easy to put your $$$ on Troy. He will be a late 1st day pick at most. If he goes 2nd/3rd and flops, then oh well. Brady will come out first with all the pressure that comes with. Brady will not be a Couch. IMO

I just hope for the Ohio kids sake that ND's O-line doesnt let him get pummelled. LSU is easily the best D Notre Dame will face all year. They are my pick for SEC champ next year.

It is easy to put your money on any player. I just see that BQ doesnt get it done against Big time D's. If you were an NFL scout you would be stupid not to see what happens when he gets pressured and has to move.

I hope Detroit takes him, but as I said the team that gets him and their situation will dictate how things go for Quinn. That was where the TC comparison comes in.
And that was what i meant.

Speaking of QB's and LSU, Jamarcus Russell might be in the early 1st round mix come the Draft, if he declares (I think he's a Jr.).

Russell is HUGE! I haven't seen him play much, but he looks pretty tough.

Congrats to Quinn.

I think Quinn will be a pretty good NFL QB. Won't be flashy but he'll win games.
