Watson is clutch.
Watson needs to be our QB.
Also clutch in college? Lots of other quarterbacks. Sure. But I'm talking about this draft class. Didn't see Trubisky pull this off in a bowl game. Trubisky also doesn't have a team loaded with NFL talent. Clutch doesn't mean anything.

To me it does.

Man, doing an onside kick there is quite a gutsy call.

The review was basically torturing Saban. He's gonna start strangling hookers on the sideline.

They should intentionally interfere right now. I told you. Intentionally tackle all the eligible receivers. Untimed down with zero seconds, forces them to kick a field goal or go for the win.

For sure. I was at a local sports bar with the Clemson alumni group - was a complete blast with a fun group of people. It was great to see Clemson win for them, and just as great to see Bama lose

wow, what a game. just watched the replay.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Man, doing an onside kick there is quite a gutsy call. Dabo wanted that. Kind of fitting since Bama won the game on an onsides kick last year. I forgot all about that. Last year's was early in the 4th, IIRC. I think this one was more dramatic, because it was completely and totally unexpected at that point of the game and situation they were in. It easily could have backfired, since Bama needed a TD, and on only one play, (if they had recovered the ball) and potentially giving them additional yardage could have helped that cause. It was a beautiful onside kick though.

Was is me or was Allen a ghost last night? I made a point to watch him on most Bama defensively plays. He was doubled a lot, but ultimately, he didn't do anything.
How bad does that hurt him?

I was pulling for Bama, but am happy Clemson won. I have always liked Clemson. My ACC team of choice. A nice win.

Some thoughts on the game:
--People don't like Kiffin, but they missed him last night. Way too many pass attempts in that game.
--Mike Williams was the best player on the field. That's saying something because there were a ton of great players in that game. I just love how Williams high-points the ball.
--I get that people hate Alabama, but there should have been a penalty on that last TD. It wasn't a rub. It wasn't even a pick. The guy pretty much tackled the db, which left the WR wide open. Hate to see a game decided on such an obvious illegal play.
--With all the talk about other defensive linemen that were in the playoffs, the best one I saw was Clelin Ferrell. The kid is a monster and I think he is just a freshman.
--I don't know what his measurables are, but Ryan Anderson is a football player. The guy is very disruptive. He can rush the passer and is stout against the run. Someone is going to get a good football player.

JC: I hate how late the game starts. I'm watching the final 8 minutes now because I just couldn't stay awake any longer.
Game's on a Monday and it's midnight with 5 minutes left. I get that the West Coast folks need love, but 8:15 is just too late during the week
EDIT: I gotta convince family and friends to move back out to Chicago with me and the wife. God bless Central time

Downtown Chicago is safe, and I loved it there. I wouldn't think twice of having my parents move there, the ice makes me nervous with my father, but he'd be down in FLA for the winter anyway.

Vers, Pretty much agreed on all of that. Williams just might finally take the mediocrity out of WRs named "Mike Williams" in the NFL. As for that last play, I keep watching it over and over and I think both the WR and CB are at fault. The WR plows into him but the CB also wraps his arms around the WR to pull him down. And since the collision was with his own man, I think the no call was probably correct. If the WR plowed into the other DB, i think that's a different story. It was super close though. Watson calling it a "pick play" during his post game presser makes it a tad more obvious

It was an entertaining game, but at the same time I wasn't sure if it was ever going to end. (Did have a headache) So many stoppages for replays/commercials.
If we are moving to a 4-3 it doesn't matter as much to us, but I think Ryan Anderson may have played himself solidly into the first round. I had been looking at him at 33.
I like Watson, but his accuracy is spotty. Williams and Leggett bailed him out a few times. (Leggett also didn't help him a couple times) It might be correctable because he does flash good accuracy at times, but I also could see where he ends up at RB down the road. I wish he was taller.
I'm not sure what the Bama safety was looking at on the fake screen. Watson and the decoy receiver both seemed to be staring down the TE. Bama missed Eddie Jackson. Clemson got caught on a similar play. I like aggressive Defenses, but you've got to see it before you pull the trigger.
Anyone know if Allen was sick or something? He seemed fairly invisible and wasn't on the field fairly often. I'll have to look into his snap counts throughout the season because its hard to get a feel for how much rest he gets on draftbreakdown. Having said that, Clemson did run something like 100 plays.
Mike Williams makes tough catches, but every time he got hit I found myself wondering if he was going to get back up. Hopefully TP re-signs and we can get him to improve on back shoulder catches (our QBs, too)
I see a lot of hype for Tim Williams, but I don't really see it. He seems kind of a 1-trick pony. If his speed doesn't win, he struggles. Technique is not something I see him improving a ton at if he hasn't so far with Bama's coaching.
Reuben Foster is bigger than I thought and laid the boom a few times. He's interesting. Still not sure if I'd take him at 12 for us, but I'm considering it more now.
Too bad Fitzpatrick isn't eligible for this draft. He'd be a third stud safety. He kind of reminds me of Malcolm Jenkins.
Tankersley is growing on me, too. Seemed much more consistent than I remember him being in the past. Helps that Hurts couldn't really throw the deep ball. He tackled well in this game.
Alabama recruits so stinking well. Tomlinson and Payne looked pretty studly inside (could have done without the roughness.) Scarborough did a passable Henry impersonation before getting dinged. If Hurts improves as a passer, they'll be back in the playoffs next year (probably even if he doesn't)

So happy that Alabama and Saban lost, hate them with a passion. Hats off to Clemson. HERE HERE! NOT happy that I went to bed at halftime and could only experience those last 3 scoring drives via Sportcenter. Welcome to the media's 3-Month "Browns are IDIOTIC for not drafting Watson w/ the #1 pick" period.

Someone with stones and an advanced understanding of game theory. Like Herm said...you play to WIN the game. IF you're a coach that believes in game theory and playing more then "not to lose" then in that situation the 1 and only way to guarantee a win is to have the ball.
But man, it takes cajones.

Lol, RB?
I don't get it when people knock his accuracy.
The way I see it if you knock his accuracy then you have to knock the other prospects accuracy as well. I've been watching the QB prospects and don't see it as a legitimate knock comparatively.

I'm not saying he can't be a QB because players can and do improve. Dak is an example. If he doesn't stick at QB, I think he could be an above average RB. I would knock all the QB's accuracy. They are all inconsistent. I'm not enough of an expert to know which ones will get more consistent. I kind of like Mahomes as a guy likely to improve because his issues seem the most obvious/correctable. That's not to say that I like Mahomes more than the other guys now.

Alabama will be a contending team next year, but their defense will drop off from this years. This years defense had a drop off from the national championship team. I'm not sure what happened, but they didn't develop any depth. What made the past 2 years different from other teams was their pass rush. They lose that with Anderson, Williams, and Allen leaving. The offense should be dynamic, but the defense won't be the same.
Georgia is a team to keep an eye on.
