Oof. And he is a free agent after the season. Not many teams will be willing to be him much (or guarantee him a job) after coming of that bad of an injury and two years of not playing.

He has a fifth year option the team can pick up, right? Not sure if they will considering the uncertainty.

There's nothing about this situation to be pleased about. Absolutely nothing.

I hate that this thread even has to exist.

That really sucks for him and the Vikings. Hate seeing this kind of news frown Hope he can rehab and come back and play, GL to him.

There is a fifth year option, but it seems unlikely at this point.

The Vikings have Bradford and it doesn't seem likely that Bridgewater would be kept over him after not playing for two years because of a horrible injury.

I agree. I wouldn't rule out drafting a QB high for this team in the near future. Bradford's non-injury plagued season seems like an outlier.

gotta be one of the worst injuries ever, right? from all accounts it was gruesome.

I had seen a report that said that his career might be over when he was 1st injured. I truly hope that is not the case. He seems like a nice young man, and I would hate to see his dream over just like that.

Being out of the game for 2 years is going to be hard for him to come back from as it is. I hope he heals up completely, though, and is able to resume his career.

I read somewhere that they almost had to amputate his leg.

Yup, a health official on the field did something that prevented an immediate amputation. I remember hearing it from the coach or GM at a press conference.

Knowing that, I didn't expect him to play this or any season going forward. That must mean the whole knee exploded.

And it wasn't that he was running and made an odd cut, he was simply just throwing a 30-yard pass. Targeted, planted and crunch. So sad.

I hope he pulls through though.

Hope he heals and can rehab. Be healthy going forward, football or no. I imagine Bradford is the man. Good luck, dude.

I don't think he accrues a season while out on IR, so I don't think he'll be a free agent on the expected schedule. I haven't looked at anything though, so I probably have that wrong.

In any case, rough break for him. Nothing to it but to give it time and do work when it's time to start coming back. The rest will sort itself out.

Losing Adrian Peterson and having the worst offensive line in football might have caused that. It wasn't because of Bradford.

Well, their OL was even worse the year before when they won 11 games and should have won a playoff game if their dumb ass kicker hadn't missed a 27 yard FG w/time running out.

A season on IR does count as an accrued season. Just as long as it wasn't a non-football injury.

As long as he wasn't under suspension, and didn't get hurt in some non-team related situation on his own, (an activity in violation of his contract, like a motorcycle) then he accrues time.

Ooops, I didn't read the whole thread before responding, and didn't see that there was already the right answer posted.

This is where you offer the Vikings a 7th rounder for him now.

We'd pay $2.18 million for 2017

We'd pay $11 million for 2018

If he pans out you sign him long term, if he doesn't, you can let him walk.

We are one of the few teams where $11 mil will affect the cap situation very little if he doesn't pan out in 2018.

The Bradford trade was very telling as it relates to what the Vikings Docs thought about Bridgewater's ability to play again. I hope for his sake he makes a full recovery, but I don't think he will get that opportunity again with the Vikings.

if the vikings called you and asked for #33 for TB, would you do it today?

Probably not. But I'm not as informed as other teams might be about his injury.

It depends on the doctors prognosis. Prior to the injury he showed the promise to be a franchise guy, but who knows what he is at this point. The most telling information we have is the Vikings though it bad enough to invest a 1st round pick into a QB who hasn't exactly lit the world on fire in Bradford.

So with that said, on what I currently know probably not.

Teddy is throwing to teammates. Clearly he's still very far away from a comeback, but he's at least seemingly moving forward in the right direction. I'm really rooting for him.

Really like this guy. I liked him in college and wanted him to be in Cleveland.

Pulling for him. Hope he makes it all the way back and does well.
