Johns Hopkins’ Top Psychologist Releases Terrifying Diagnosis of President TrumpZach Cartwright | January 28, 2017
One of the nation’s top psychologists just broke one of his profession’s ethics rules to give President Donald Trump a professional diagnosis.
John D. Gartner, a psychotherapist who teaches at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, told US News that he believes Trump has “malignant narcissism,” which is incurable, and different from narcissistic personality disorder. Gartner violated the “Goldwater Rule” of the psychology profession, in which a diagnosis of a public figure without personally examining them, and without their consent, is considered unethical.
“Donald Trump is dangerously mentally ill and temperamentally incapable of being president,” Gartner said, citing his movements and behavior, pointing out the president’s tendency for grandiosity, sadism, aggressiveness, paranoia, and anti-social behavioral patterns.
“We’ve seen enough public behavior by Donald Trump now that we can make this diagnosis indisputably,” Gartner added.
Indeed, the diagnosis fits the bill of Psychology Today’s definition of malignant narcissism, which, when described, sounds like Donald Trump almost to the letter. Carrie Barron, M.D., who wrote the magazine’s blog on Malignant Narcissism, says the disorder “renders these individuals scary, dangerous, and ruthless.”
Malignant Narcissists will go to great lengths to achieve their aim. They can be intelligent, high functioning (hold an important job for example) soft-spoken, charming, tearful/seemingly emotional, gracious, well mannered, kind and have the ability to form relationships. They may lie, falsely accuse, dramatize, smear, cheat, steal, manipulate, accuse, blame or twist to get what they want and feel justified in doing so. Because they are entitled, egocentric and desperate, they do not experience it as wrong. They are determined to gratify their wishes and furious if thwarted. Their desire can be so consuming that there is little comprehension of, respect for or ability to empathize with the other. They lack guilt or remorse and tend to feel or pronounce that it is they who have been mistreated.
President Trump’s aides previously reported that their boss watches an excessive amount of television, mostly out of obsession for how he is perceived by the media. Salon’s Matthew Rosza compared the timestamps of Trump’s tweets about topics in the news and found that they coincided with the airing of various network news programs talking about those same subjects.

The article was ignorant and hateful, but I was talking more about the sheer volume of these types of articles. I go to Yahoo to check the latest news each day and there are several of these dumb ass articles there every single time I visit there.
Swish, when I used to read/hear all of those stupid remarks about Obama, it made me want to defend him even more. I don't like Trump, but these stupid character assassinations actually have the opposite affect on many folks like me.

What's very depressing is how any kind of professional news editor allows stories with no merit. I'm not talking about this story in particular but other ones that have no merit, are not true, and don't actually have evidence. It accomplishes nothing and jades a lot of readers at the same time, which I don't think would be a goal of a company trying to get people to read their articles or sell papers.
I wish we actually lived in a day and age where there was journalism pride. Every single time someone publishes something like that they lose all credibility and wonder how the person who wrote the story was hired in the first place. It seems like a lot of people have no professionalism AT ALL and deserve to be fired. You can write an article where you don't agree, but back it up with facts and logic, not whining.

There were real health concerns with Hillary Clinton. She had some past problems that were well-publicized (blood clot and maybe a stroke?), she had fainted before, etc. She exhibited some strange behavior on the campaign trail, from looking generally unwell to having the occasional seizure-like outbreak that suggested there was some underlying condition that was being hidden from the public.
Then of course, on September 11, 2016 she literally passed out and had to literally be dragged into a van by her handlers. The official explanation was that she had pneumonia, so what does she do? Well she goes and gets a photo shoot of her hugging a small child and then goes and plays with her young grandchildren, because what else would somebody who had pneumonia do? But anyway, you would have to project out 4 or (oh my goodness) 8 years with issues like this and understand the President is on call 24/7.
Truthfully I would rather just let all these side issues die. The election is long over and it really does no good to keep harping on them. However, I saw your post and thought there was a little bit of revisionist history going on.

What claims are you talking about, specifically? I avoided some of the more fringe theories/ideas and only addressed some of the concerns that were well-publicized. I'm not going to link to every single one of them because we did this back in the summer and I don't find it very relevant anymore, but if you need help in finding something then I can lend a hand (or Google search.)
I am not really concerned about what you say about Trump. So a doctor, who has never seen our President, says he is crazy, or something to that effect. That's not even in the top ten of worst things I've heard liberals say about our President in the last week. I expect this to continue for the rest of his Presidential term and beyond, regardless of how well Trump does in office.

It is a hypothetical syndrome that's not even in the DSMIV (THE diagnostic reference used worldwide to determine whether someone has required symptoms to support a mental illness diagnosis). Of course you wouldn't know that by the title of this thread. A psychiatrist/psychologist isn't allowed to legally diagnose someone with this, let alone call it a professional diagnosis as this article did.

No, none of what I posted was speculation Swish. Maybe you read a couple vague inferences that there was something more going on that the public was unaware of and you deduced that I said something more than I actually did? Related article below from a few days ago. There is a lot going on and a lot to digest although one thing I would add is that Trump is pretty much much doing exactly what he would said he would do while on the campaign trail.

At the moment there are so many outrages, executive orders, protests, and controversies that none of them can get enough oxygen in our brains. I can’t obsess about problem X because the rest of the alphabet is coming at me at the same time.
When you encounter a situation that is working great except for one identifiable problem, you can focus on the problem and try to fix it. But if you have a dozen complaints at the same time, none of them looks special. The whole situation just looks confusing, and you don’t know where to start. So you wait and see what happens. Humans need contrast in order to make solid decisions that turn into action. Trump removed all of your contrast by providing multiple outrages of similar energy.
You’re probably seeing the best persuasion you will ever see from a new president. Instead of dribbling out one headline at a time, so the vultures and critics can focus their fire, Trump has flooded the playing field. You don’t know where to aim your outrage. He’s creating so many opportunities for disagreement that it’s mentally exhausting. Literally. He’s wearing down the critics, replacing their specific complaints with entire encyclopedias of complaints. And when Trump has created a hundred reasons to complain, do you know what impression will be left with the public?

He doesn’t want the Federal government to be in the business of making health care choices for women. He prefers leaving that decision to the woman, her doctor, and state laws.
The thing I really like is the fact that Trump is currently calling all the shots, since the Lefty Democrats are stalling his Cabinet selections. He gets no advice and even had to attend some meetings that Presidents usually don't attend because he had no one to send.
