I like the idea of getting a few guys signed. I might make Crow a little down the list. Kirksey is one we need to sigh.

My feeling on backs is it is easier to replace them then it is, say a linebacker.

I agree, it has been quiet on the signing front. Maybe because people are away for the Super Bowl. Lets hope Sahsi and crew have been seeing agents around the Super Bowl parties, handing cocktail napkins around with numbers scribbled on them.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

We made a fair offer to get him to sign he decided to test the waters out there. He found out that nobody was coming close to our offer. They came back to sign it. We said woah that offer was for you not to go outside...now that we all know what you are worth we would like to renegotiate a contract cause we know now what you are worth on the market. The agent and possibly Schwartz were PO'd and it was they that walked away from the table.

In looking back it was probably the wrong thing to do for sure and a mistake by the new FO...we will survive.

JMHO, real world, poster who say we didn't try to sign "our guys" aren't thinking right...all these guys are best of best, all have won big their whole lives...get drafted to BAD team, us, and free agency comes....really, who wants to lose over and over again...Mack had enough, and Swz didn't want to stay on BAD team for "standard" money...why aren't "our guys" signing...if you aren't born, breed in Cleveland there ARE other places to live and make a living....hope we keep our fair share of free agents, but really, is it fun to play in snow, wind, rain, etc....really, GO Browns!!!!

I believe this is correct and reports mentioned that the contract offer was given during the combine.

Pryor, Bitonio & Greco are all guys very worthy to re-sign...and all of them are coming off surgery. Bitonio and Greco (whenever he's "up") might not get extended until during the next season / after they have proven that they have healed. The prudent thing to do is make sure they are healing properly before throwing an extension at them.

Pryor is a FA now...so he's likely to get attention sooner than the other two...same as Pasztor in a way. As was said above, I think extending Kirksey would be a priority if I were in the FO.

This is exactly the kind of thread-busting BS that makes this Board difficult to read at times...no one on this Board is saying anything anywhere close to that...NO ONE. And some guys want to claim deceit and misrepresentation in the posts of others?

Try this one:

All of the players' agents are "perfect" and all those FO guys are despicable human beings.

Add this for flavor:

Those dastardly FO guys simply want to lose good/great players so that the head coach has no talent and gets fired for poor results...putting those very FO guys squarely in the cross-hairs.

How ludicrous is that?

I think the implication is, when you make an offer at The Combine, that you don't want the player to go outside and search for a deal. I'm pretty sure that's the entire reason why teams try to sign players in advance of FA....before the rest of the market can get to them. Were those the exact words from the FO to justify retracting the contract offer, I don't know. But I was agreeing with EO's general response instead of a small piece of it.

Furthermore, I believe there was discussion on this board (not sure if it started because it came from a piece in a article) that pulling the offer might have been a long-term strategy for future deals. Meaning, agents will be more careful moving forward than to leverage a contract offer from the Browns and then test that out in the market. The move by the agent seemingly failed and the FO follow up to that attempt by the agent was to pull the offer altogether. I don't necessarily know if I agree with that approach (if true) since I was huge Schwartz fan, but this scenario was talked about at length.

Who knows, this may already have paid off in the Jamie Collins contract. After we put a fair offer on the table, maybe he said, "I better take it.... if I shop around I might get Schwartzed".

Never claimed to be a GM.

What bothers me is that guys like you make fun of posters who question things while MAKING up stories of how things played out. Then, when questioned, other guys say stupid crap like "this makes the board intolerable...."

Look................I do NOT know exactly how each situation went down w/each FA. Then again, neither do you guys. Yet, you guys keep repeating the same lie over and over and over again and all of a sudden it becomes "true."

Please stop making up stories. None of us know exactly how the negotiations w/each FA went down.

With that said posters who claim Browns FO "LET PLAYERS WALK" are making up stories also in your opinion? Since we don't know what went down with each FA...as you state above.
