He had a great meeting with the Canadian pm yesterday. But I understand you liberals can't mention that because it doesn't fit your narrative. I thought it was a great press conference and couldn't believe how much younger and presidential their PM was vs. Trump. And he is also a liberal, imagine that.

Petraeus is worse than Snowden. The fact that the Don is taking a meeting with him is shameful. That's an interesting comment. Out of curiosity where do you fall on the love 'em or hate 'em scale with Snowden? i know you asked CHS, but with me, While what snowden did bring to light something that is massively important, what he did was illegal. doesn't matter the "good" he did. he needs to face punishment. it's the same logic you guys use with illegal immigrants, FYI. I appreciate you chiming in. I've heard this point before. But what I haven't heard is what would have been a more appropriate route to go? I suppose he could have gone to someone on the Senate Intelligence committee? IIRC (and I probably don't) there was an issue with the Whistleblower procedures not providing people with the protections from prosecution like it should have been? I recently watched the movie Snowden and I thought it did a pretty good job of showing the moral and ethical dilemna he faced. What it didn't show was if he tried any other avenues which I think is massively important.

You bring up a fair point, which I just want to remind you that your point applies to a ton of things you have argued against in past discussions.
So what would've been the more appropriate route?
Whistleblower regulations protect the individual once they bring it up to an authority in their department/agency.
So legally, with the right lawyers, nothing would've happened to him. The question becomes, however, would the same effect have happened?
Whistleblowing doesn't include leaking information to the media, or an organization like Wikileaks. So the moment he decided to go outside his agency is the moment he became a criminal.
By law.
So he definitely had an ethical dilemma. Go through the proper channels, be protected legally, but more than likely not make the American people aware of what's going on.
Or
Leak the material, instantly become a criminal, move to a country that doesn't expedite, but make the American people aware of the shadiness which is the NSA.
However, either way you slice it, he was gonna violate ethics regardless. He was paid by his agency, given a top clearance, and trusted with government information on the basis that he keeps his mouth shut like THOUSANDS of employees before he worked there, and after he dies.
There's no clear cut answer as far as his decision making process.
But one thing is clear: the American people found out......and didn't really care all that much. There was more outrage for Harambe than there was over the NSA spying on us.

Sorry you can't handle Clinton being brought into the conversation about his MANY indiscretions as President.
Be careful Eve, many on here support scum like Bill and voted for his enabling wife to lead us. How anyone could vote for either of them is beyond me. They are both trash. but yet you support Trump??

Well, I think more people cared than maybe you do. The issue was addressed and Obama felt the need to correct it. So he had to feel at least a little heat over the issue. Plus people felt a lot stronger about the issue when they realized your local cops were looking for your phone was just an extension of what the Feds were doing.
I can see why Snowden may have felt he didn't have an avenue within the NSA seeing how high up the mass warrantless data collection went. I mean, let's say I witness major corruption and abuse in my police department. How can I be sure that internal affairs a) will do something about it b) CAN do something about it c) will protect me from retaliation and d) isn't a part of it?
Seems to me if Snowden didn't think it would be addressed or feared reprisal from the NSA, the FBI would be the correct course of action.

Flynn, and anyone even remotely tied to this, needs to fry. No exceptions.
Now, I believe that will happen about the same time Hillary gets hammered for her security "indiscretions".

well, history says i'm correct. people cared....for a whopping 2 weeks at it's peak. people cared so little that John oliver had to interview Snowden and put what happened in a way that people would actually care more than their fleeting feelings on the topic.
i see more outrage over some patriot players not going to the WH than i did Snowden.
i saw more outrage over the false fact that obama was supposedly a muslim over the Snowden situation.

Washington (CNN) — Moscow has deployed a cruise missile in an apparent treaty violation, a senior military official told CNN Tuesday.
The move is just the latest in a string of Russian provocations in the early days of the Trump administration, which has called for warmer relations with the Kremlin.
The traditional US adversary has also positioned a spy ship off the coast of Delaware and carried out flights near a US Navy warship, concerning American officials. The administration has not officially drawn any links between the three events.
The ground-launched cruise missile seems to run counter to the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, the senior military official said. The New York Times first reported is deployment.
While declining to speak on intelligence matters, a spokesman for the US State Department did draw attention to Russian violations of the treaty.
"The Russian Federation remains in violation of its INF Treaty obligations not to possess, produce or flight-test a ground-launched cruise missile with a range capability of 500 to 5,500 kilometers, or to possess or produce launchers of such missiles," acting spokesman Mark Toner said in a statement issued Tuesday.
Russia is believed to have tested one such missile in 2014.
"We have made very clear our concerns about Russia's violation, the risks it poses to European and Asian security, and our strong interest in returning Russia to compliance with the treaty," Toner added.
Just last week, a US navy warship in the Black Sea had three encounters with Russian aircraft Friday that were deemed to be unsafe and unprofessional because of how close the Russian planes flew to the US, according to a senior defense official.
The USS Porter, a destroyer, was operating in the Black Sea when it was approached three times by Russian aircraft, including one IL-38 and two SU-24s. The Navy calculated the Russian planes may be have flown as close as 1,000 yards laterally from the ship and 1,000 feet over the water, but did not cross the deck of the Porter.
Meanwhile, a US defense official told CNN that the Russian spy ship, the SSV-175 Viktor Leonov, is sailing in international waters off the coast of Delaware. The vessel is outfitted with a variety of high-tech spying equipment and is designed to intercept signals intelligence. Fox News first reported on the ship's location.
The official noted that this is not the first time the ship has been deployed off the coast of the US. Similar patrols were carried out by the Leonov in 2014 off the coast of Florida and in 2015, adding that such missions were much more common during the Cold War.
The Russian cruise missile would be capable of threatening NATO's European members. Secretary of Defense James Mattis is due to visit NATO's headquarters to meet with his counterparts Wednesday.
"The INF Treaty eliminated an entire category of weapons that threatened Europe, in particular the threat of short-warning attacks. The treaty remains a key component of our security, and any Russian non-compliance is a serious concern for the alliance," a NATO official told CNN.
"NATO allies have the capabilities in place to ensure that Russia will not gain any military advantage from disregarding the INF Treaty," the official added.
The Kremlin's moves come the day after Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was forced to resign after failing to fully disclose conversations he had with Russia's ambassador to the US concerning US sanctions while he was not yet in office.
Trump has in the past expressed interest in arms reduction talks with the Kremlin and indicated he would seek a new opening with Moscow.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer, however, said Tuesday that the administration's stance on Moscow, saying, "The president has been incredibly tough on Russia."
Spicer pointed to UN Ambassador Nikki Haley's recent remarks on the Russia's actions in east Ukraine and occupation of Crimea, adding that Trump "expects the Russian government to deescalate violence in the Ukraine and return Crimea."
"At the same time he fully expects to and wants to be able to get along with Russia unlike previous administrations," he added.
Asked about sanctions against Russia, newly minted Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Tuesday that sanctions were an important tool but would not specify any intensions towards Russia.
"Our current sanctions programs are in place, and I would say sanctions are an important tool that we will continue to look at for various different countries. But it's a very important program within the Treasury Department," Mnuchin said.
In contrast, Sen. Tom Cotton, an Arkansas Republican, called for a strong response to the cruise missile.
"If the last administration showed us anything, it's that ignoring these kinds of provocations simply means they will proliferate," he said in a statement. "I've said before we need to set firm boundaries for Russia's behavior -- and enforce them to the hilt. I take this news as evidence that the US should build up its nuclear forces in Europe."

Trump is nothing short of a freaking unmitigated disaster so far. He is the thinnest skinned, most unprofessional, non-leader I've ever witnessed. Thus far, his administration has done next to nothing except set up the middle class to get utterly raped by Big Business. They are gutting safe guards and regulations and planning to trash entire departments (Education and EPA). His cabinet choices, sans Mattis, are mind-boggling.... it's complete buffoonery so far. I had hope for him, and I had hoped he would surround himself with good people and not do a bunch of stupid and rash things..... he has done the complete opposite of that.

For some reason your posts catch my attention a lot , like the female version of Vers Eve ran this same routine on me last Summer. She called me "creepy" and "a stalker." It's in the archives for all to see. Since that moment, I've ceased all communications with her. It wasn't hard to do- and my life has experienced an "addition by subtraction" effect that has greatly improved the quality of my day-to-day. On top of that, there now exists verifiable proof that we've never exchanged words since that thread. It's in the DT'ers archives, for all to see- or 'Not see,' as the case exists. Well you will be happy to know, Flynn, YOU'RE FIRED!
Its official. He resigned. Unlike many on here that prayed for Obama to fail, I do NOT wish that on Trump. Obama success meant American Success..I said that then, And I'm sticking to that for Trump. So no, I'm not happy that this happened. I'm not surprised by it, but I'm not overjoyed by it at all. but if Trump was proposing something you disagreed with, why would you hope he succeeded? I hoped Obama would fail for a wide range of reasons. The policies he was able to get through have been a net loss for most Americans and much of that was predictable. I can make a list if you'd like. I don't need your list, honestly I've heard it a million times over the last 8 years.

Eve calling somebody a 'creeper' and a 'stalker'... that's rich! She always finds a way to play her victim card, always. Best way to shut her down is with 'facts' and call her out on her victim card playing.
I actually like her as a person (excluding her ridiculous political views) but in all my internet usage I've never seen a female go MORE out of her way to play the victim and make female based sexist comments to make others feel uncomfortable.
I don't need to know that she thinks Paul Ryan is hot as that does nothing to support her arguments, yet if I say "what does that have to do with anything?", out will come that victim card.

Now I see you guys crying that she uses a victim card. Hilarious!

Can you repeat that in Russian for us? I guess trump was right, he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and he wouldn't lose a vote.. Well now, he's suspected of colluding with the Russians and his people don't question it or even wonder about it, they just make more excuses. I wonder what happens if it's found that it's not just suspected, but that it happened? Will they still support this lunatic? I keep wondering what smoking gun they'll find next.

I wouldn't call him a creeper if he only bothered me in the political threads because I do give you guys crap here. But he follows me around in the non political threads also. It's creepy. That and he flat out admitted to doing it. But I guess it's convenient for you to ignore that fact. And Paul Ryan's hotness makes you feel uncomfortable? Are you insecure or something? But it's ok for you guys to make comments about women and bodily functions and other gross stuff? "Male sexist things" Not that I care. But you're rediculous.
