I can't believe I'm saying this, but it looks like Trump is actually making America great again. Just look at the progress made since the election:


1. Unprecedented levels of ongoing civic engagement.
2. Millions of Americans now know who their state and federal representatives are without having to google.
3. Millions of Americans are exercising more. They're holding signs and marching every week.
4. Alec Baldwin is great again. Everyone's forgotten he's kind of a jerk.
5. The Postal Service is enjoying the influx cash due to stamps purchased by millions of people for letter and postcard campaigns.
6. Likewise, the pharmaceutical industry is enjoying record growth in sales of anti-depressants.
7. Millions of Americans now know how to call their elected officials and know exactly what to say to be effective.
8. Footage of town hall meetings is now entertaining.
9. Tens of millions of people are now correctly spelling words like emoluments, narcissist, fascist, misogynist, holocaust and cognitive dissonance.
10. Everyone knows more about the rise of Hitler than they did last year.
11. Everyone knows more about legislation, branches of power and how checks and balances work.
12. Marginalized groups are experiencing a surge in white allies.
13. White people in record numbers have just learned that racism is not dead. (See #6)
14. White people in record numbers also finally understand that Obamacare IS the Affordable Care Act.
15. Stephen Colbert's "Late Night" finally gained the elusive #1 spot in late night talk shows, and Seth Meyers is finding his footing as today's Jon Stewart.
16. "Mike Pence" has donated millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood since Nov. 9th.
17. Melissa FREAKING McCarthy.
18. Travel ban protesters put $24 million into ACLU coffers in just 48 hours, enabling them to hire 200 more attorneys. Lawyers are now heroes.
19. As people seek veracity in their news sources, respected news outlets are happily reporting a substantial increase in subscriptions, a boon to a struggling industry vital to our democracy.
20. Live streaming court cases and congressional sessions are now as popular as the Kardashians.
21. Massive cleanup of facebook friend lists.
22. People are reading classic literature again. Sales of George Orwell's "1984" increased by 10,000% after the inauguration. (Yes, that is true. 10,000%. 9th grade Lit teachers all over the country are now rock stars.)
23. More than ever before, Americans are aware that education is important. Like, super important.
24. Now, more than anytime in history, everyone believes that anyone can be President. Seriously, anyone.

3. Millions of Americans are exercising more. They're holding signs and marching every week.

4. Alec Baldwin is great again. Everyone's forgotten he's kind of a jerk.

I am now officially retired. After investing in Procter & Gamble before the election my stock has gone through the roof with the sale of Puffs increasing ten fold, as they can't stop crying about Trump

California drought and water crisis is over with all the tears being spilled here.

It can't compare to all of the whining and crying from Trump and his supporters how everyone hates him and is picking on him. lol

Plus you never see any polling from the people who are presently on Obamacare (ACH) asking what they think about how it's working for them.

For the record, I have only ever seen this go one way.

I saw one of the above two play out dozens of times during the election season (with different wording but the same effect.) The other I saw precisely zero times. You can figure out which is which.

I'm on it, it sucks. So damned expensive I can't get my wife to use it for plantar faciitis because the deductible is through the roof.

Not to worry, sensible people are working on replacing it.

This isn't the same Congress as 2008 and we now have a new President if you haven't noticed. They are working out all the details and will present the finished package soon.

That's pretty funny. My Aunt seemed to repeatedly post fake memes and I would respond to her memes with factual data in response. She blocked me from her friends list.

First, she asked me to quit responding. I told her that if I saw lies running across my feed, I would respond. That I actually thought she would want to know they were false. With that she said all I was interested in was starting trouble. Yes, she was a Trump supporter.

When people are more interested in hearing what they want to hear instead of hearing the facts, feelings are more important than facts.

Actually, Spiral is wrong, it's not been 8 years, it's really been 7 years.

The Republican party put forth a 17 page healthcare plan that they touted as being better than the ACA.

So they had a plan 7 or 8 years ago but now they don't.

If you think about it, they lied back then, because now they are finding out how tough it is to accomplish.

No easy task.

I've felt for years that the idea of the ACA was good, but the execution of it sucked.

Find a way to make it work, don't throw it away.

Is this an exception that proves the rule?

I have many friends with widely different views. In many cases, the very vocal liberal types, would ask people who supported Trump to remove them from their friends list. This happened so many times that I lost count. The conservative and/or right-wing types that I know would not do that. They would be more likely to have civil discussions and just leave things at an 'agree to disagree' type of level.

Those are my experiences, both with people I know and also largely with those who I don't. If yours are different, that's ok too! I'm glad you shared your experience. It gives another perspective to consider.

One last thought: the very existence of this list, written by a liberal source making what I think is a correct observation about Massive cleanup of Facebook friends lists (read: removing Trump supporters from friends lists) gives credence to what I wrote above.

Not really. I know several people that happened to. Some of you need to quit acting like life isn't a two way street. There are extremes on both sides and neither is good.

I have been reading your ideas of what is truth for many years now and I would have to agree with your Aunt.

It was actually false memes that were easily fact checked to be false and made up. They're all over FB from both sides. But I would expect you to try to deny anything one side says no matter what.

Like Trump claiming he had the biggest electoral win when he actually places seventh behind both Obama wins and GWB, Reagan and so on.

I'm not acting like anything. Those are my honest observations. Why would I say that this specific angle is a two way street when I only ever see it go one way? (And even that has largely died down by now.)

By the way, I know there are not-so-great people on both sides. We've had this discussion several times before, but that doesn't change what I wrote above.

The problem is I don't know your Aunt and what she posts, but you I know, very well indeed.

FB has become almost unusable. It used to be a great way to keep up with what was going on in the lives of old/distant friends and family. Now that's about 1 in 10 posts, the other 9 are just BS political crap... Either my "friends" sharing angry memes, political half-truths, or outright lies... then heaven forbid you open an article, suddenly FB decides that you need to have every article ever written on that topic show up on your feed. I find myself going there less and less for the simple reason that I almost always leave more mad than I was when I started.. and I don't need that in my life. And twitter isn't much better.

So I appreciate you if you put in the effort to correct every lie that comes across your FB.. pretty sure if I tried to do that, it would become a full time job.

Much like you, I see the lies and the half truths of both sides. People who I know that used to be pretty logical, have gone off the deep end. I would say the majority of my friends are conservatives. I also have liberal friends. I see the venom and BS coming from both sides.

It's a sad state of affairs that is really nothing new, yet it seems the spread of it and intensity of it has just been ramped up even more as time goes on. I agree with some things Trump is trying to do and disagree with other things he's trying to do. But that's often times what happens when you have moderate ideas and beliefs. Both sides have some things you like but neither party actually represents you.

The problem is that 95% of what is posted has absolutely NOTHING to do with what Trump is actually doing or planning to do. It's all peripheral stuff designed only to incite some to anger, others to cheers...

I do find that it has been a little better since I stopped opening any article that uses the introduction of "Somebody said something, what happened next will blow your mind"....

They just did. In case you missed it, Trump was trying to pass the Muslim ban that they didn't think it through at all. It was blocked by the court.

Hopefully they will think the next one through enough so there's no legal grounds to block it. I agree with the ban but you have to have enough sense and advice you can count on not to just try to ram things through without taking the time to think them through.

The liberal disdain for hardworking country folk in this country just never ends does it?
