Liberal protests represent you and you represent them. It is their agenda to promote Liberal ideals and to shut down things they oppose. When they riot, they are forcefully promoting anarchy in the name of the Liberal cause. You own them.

If a bunch of Trump supporters or Conservative groups decide to riot, Conservatives will own it.

A nut who shoots up a bar while drunk off his but, thinking Indians are Arabs out to get him is owned by no one.

When terrorists enter the country and kill Americans after your folks shutting down the President as he tries to prevent this will also be owned by you and yours.

I don't follow news on weekends nearly as closely as I do during the week, so if it happened on Friday or Saturday, it's not uncommon for me not to hear about it until Monday.

No, you are a Liberal and are attached to anything representing the liberal movement. The Liberals are protesting and rioting.

I am a Conservative and am attached to anything representing the Conservative movement. The Conservatives are behaving like adults, so far.

Much of what I've seen from Republicans for many years does not fall into the realm of "conservative". And much of what I've seen from the Democrats has not fallen into the realm of "liberal"...

So if you want to align yourself with a label and think you have to agree with anything and everything those at the top of that label tell you, have at it. I choose to align myself with a set of ideals, which as a set are kind of unique to me...

Same here. Let's form our own political party. We'll make the country better by talking about how much worse and stupid everyone else is. According to that ideal, people will start following us in droves!

I have not been happy with my Republicans over the last decade either. I have been working to change that.

Yet from everything I've seen you post, you fall in line with anything and everything they say. And anyone you see that is a moderate, you call a fence sitter.

It doesn't appear you wish to change anything.

When viewed from the passion of the Left to the passion of the Right, a Moderate IS a fence sitter.

There's only one thing you need to consider when saying things like this. About one third of voters are GOP and about one third are Dems. The other one third are Independent voters who vote for a candidate and not a party.

So in actuality, it's those who you call fence sitters that decide elections. Maybe you should consider that before you go casting stones at those who will actually decide who gets elected.

I see moderates these days as people who could be either conservative or liberal (in the original sense of the words, not the bastardized versions we're seeing from R's and D's), but who arrive at their stances through questioning, self-examination, and rationality. Unfortunately, they're stuck between "Conservatives" and "Liberals" who are more manipulated by fear, anger, and the need to win rather than examine how to fix things.

I think the political conversations on this board are a perfect illustration of that.

Oh I really don't take 40 seriously. I used to but I've figured him out. He just likes to stir the pot and not post much of anything rational. There are people that have somewhat similar beliefs as he does who I respect on this board. But he's certainly not one of them.

It is like seeing both ends of a skunk, you better choose quickly which end you support.

If I had your respect I would have to reexamine my life.

Which is why the republican party (and to some extent the democratic party) is in trouble.

You are trying to drag the republican party to the extreme right, I'm trying to drag them into the 21st century.

And the democratic party has a similar issue with those tying to drag them to the extreme left and others trying to work toward the middle.

We all have our own style. Some people are more pleasant to have conversations with than others. Some people will try to get under your skin a bit while others won't. The only thing I can say is that a poster can only bother you if you let them.

At the end of the day, we're just discussing politics on the internet. If somebody with opposing views and a motivation to troll you a bit can actually upset you, you're probably better off avoiding these threads in the first place. Correction-- we would all be better off avoiding these threads and doing something productive with our time instead.

It's more like a crab. The dangerous parts are on the far left and far right.. you really want your hand in the middle.

Had to chuckle at this. This past weekend had some friends over. Now, despite my best efforts over the years, we still have crayfish/crawdads/baby lobsters......whatever you want to call them.

So, we see one on the porch/patio. Friend goes and picks it up. He did it correctly, thumb and forefinger, just a bit behind the head. The claws were going crazy.

Picking it up correctly was the last thing he did correctly. He stuck his other finger in front of it. It nailed him. He spoke some words. Then his wife tried telling him "oh, that little thing can't hurt that bad. Here, let me try." Followed by "Dear God, get it off!!"
