It's a free country I can analyze a guy how ever I want. Why don't you actually try giving some actual analysis on the guy that would alleviate some of the concerns I have instead of the argument you keep using that he's the top ranked guy by every expert out there, cause that's all I've heard you say, that or that everything I'm seeing about the guy is misinformation.

It is a free country and I can disagree w/you if I think you are wrong.

I have given my analysis on Garrett plenty of times. I started giving at the beginning of the 2105 season when I said he was the best player in college football and that it was a shame he wasn't going to be in that draft.

My analysis lines-up w/what others are saying about him. It's out there. It's not as difficult as some our making it out to be. I think you are just trying to draw attention to yourself.

When you look at Garrett he is the DE with the most POTENTIAL to be a great NFL DE because of his physical freakishness. When you look at college stats though he doesn't overwhelm IMHO.

Solomon is a far more instinctual player with a monster motor and nasty streak. That usually translates well to the NFL and I think he will be great.

Barnett is by far the most technically sound DE in this draft BY FAR. I think it's a guaranteed conclusion that he will hit the ground running in his NFL career. His only worry is will he have NFL speed to allow his skills to shine in the NFL.

For DEs I think all 3 are worth a top 10 pick. I would be happy to draft any one of them. The one with the highest ceiling though is Garrett because you can train a player to have that kind of God given physical talent. You can improve on instinct and tech though.

When it comes to DT though Allen is so far above the competition that it's not even close. Caleb should not be taken till the 20s of round 1.

Thats why I start to lean towards a Allen and Barnett combo as being ideal IMHO.

Thinking someone is wrong and telling them that they are providing misinformation are two different things. You can tell me I'm wrong all day long just would ask that my take on a player isn't misinformation, It's just my take.

I've not seen your analysis on him.

As far as drawing attention to myself, I'm an introvert, but the anonymity of this forum makes things easier. And just how much attention am I gonna get from a chat forum?

1. any "buzz" about the draft at this time of year is pahoohey. Now is the time the draft game is played and if there are leaks they are usually NOT TRUE.

2. Would there be anything wrong if we took Garrett at one and then consider Barnett BPA at 12? Even though we have Ogbah one of the 3 moves inside on passing downs!

3. Why do some mocks have us taking Cook at #12...really? Why would we take the #2 RB in the draft especially when Hue is more than satisfied with our RBs...if anything I can see us take the Tenn. kid in the 2nd!

4. DEFENSE BABY!

Why wouldn't you possibly be interested in trading to the Bears slot at #3 by making them think you want their QB??? Drop to #3 and then you get either Garrett or Allen.

All we need is for..

SF to trade #2 to Washington for Cousins, Redskins take a QB
Bears draft a QB
Jacksonville trade Bortles to Jets, takes a QB

And then we can trade with Tennessee for #5 and #18

Tenn: Allen or Garrett
Wash: QB
Chi: QB
Jax: QB
Cle: Allen or Garrett

Then trade #18 to NE for Jimmy G, and still have #12!

See... it's simple.

Tennessee won't come up. They're also very analytics based and edge isn't a huge need for them. Only way we trade out is if SF still needs a qb and two of the bills, bears or Jets still do to. My bet is the Jets

I could easily see Jimmy going to Chicago, Romo to den or buffalo, tyrod here and the Jets trying to jump up to 1. Shanny may want a qb but he may be best to just sit put, build the team and go after one next year rather than jump one spot just to keep the Jets out. I could see us getting the Jets 1st and 2nd next year min

I think Cousin gets the tag.
I think Tyrod stays in Buffalo.

The worst thing the Browns can do is trade down and not take Garrett. Package him and a saftey or LB at 12 and Greg Williams has some great parts for a defence. Reaching for a QB 1 overall is going to end badly no one is ready to lead the Browns. The O-line needs help to protect any investment for a young QB. We need impact players now and this is a deep defensive draft.

I guess I didn't know that the Browns were actually focusing Garrett... What I mean by that is that I haven't heard anything official from the Browns.

Of course, every single reporter says we are.

1st pick should be a no debate best player in the draft take him at 1 overall. Now the 12th pick where do they go, please don't trade for Jimmy G., I see many writers saying Kizer or Mahomes. I love Kizer, but I am an ND guy, he is a reach at 12 and to many teams in front of us need a QB here. I like a CB, or Saftey if Peppers falls here I like him. Greg Williams with Garrett, Peppers and Ogbah toss in Haden and Shelton coming around that could be fun to watch. Wouldn't be hurt by Tabor out of Florida either. Without landing Garrett I would seriously see another change in the front office that we don't need.

As a side note if Peppers falls past 12 we could be seeing him twice a year wearing a Raven's or that team from Penn. jersey.

Are Browns cooling on DE Garrett? … Not so long ago, one of the givens of the 2017 draft was that Cleveland was enamored with Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett, who most analysts had rated as the clear, consensus top prospect for the upcoming draft.

However, there is a bit of a buzz these days that the Browns may have cooled somewhat on Garrett. No question that Garrett is an explosive edge-rusher with a big upside, but there are soem issues with his consistency and his motor. It also didn’t help that Garrett, a Dallas native, made a public plea, albeit jokingly, to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys to make a trade to move him up and select him.

At the same time, it appears that New England back-up Jimmy Garoppolo remains the Browns’ top target to address their issues at QB. And with a number of other teams with top picks also reportedly interested in Garoppolo themselves, it may be donning on the Browns that if they really want Garopollo they may have to use the #1 pick to get him. Stay tuned!

complete garbage of an article...really Cooling on a player before the combine..yeah that makes alot of sense..the lengths people go to pound their square agenda into a round hole

Who's agenda are you referring to?

The authors? What agenda do they have?
Me? I only posted this to suggest that Garrett may not be the slam dunk pick the majority of people on the planet think.

You want to talk about agenda? try this one on.

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
While in Indianapolis, Garrett will get asked extensively about an ankle injury that appeared to hamper him for much of the season. If the Browns determine his lackluster play at times in 2016 was an effort issue, and not due to injury, it could create the slightest opportunity for someone like Alabama’s Jonathan Allen to jump into the pick.

http://www.sbnation.com/2017/2/27/147467...y-myles-garrett

I have an agenda with this post.
It is to provide evidence that those who say "No one except mac, dean and ed question Garrett's motor" are just "making things up".
I am not saying that Garrett is not a good player
I am not saying he isn't worthy of the #1 overall pick

All I am saying is that Garrett may not be the clear cut #1 obvious pick that so many on here espouse.
All I am saying is that (like every prospect) there are questions that need to be asked and answered.
Not doing so is how you draft a Gilbert top 10.

People who post the articles from obscure websites to prove their point that Garrett isn't that good. So posting an article that browns have cooled on Garrett before they've even had the combine is ridiculous..Not saying you in particular, just saying a few have been hard on the anti Garrett rhetoric with weak arguments

IN MY OPINION..

Most of the "articles" posted lately from blog sites carry as much weight as if someone wrote it on this board themselves.

I could pay $10 for a .com and write 5 "articles" saying that the Browns "could possibly" consider trading for Tom Brady.

Doesn't mean anything.

I don't know enough to say one way or the other ... and I'm not sure that it will take the #1 ... that depends on Shanny the Bears, Bills and i think one other team ... and thats if he's available, i have said for months now that Jimmy may not be traded ...

Just curious as to who Vers would choose between the two if that is w2hat it does come down to ...

Hmmmmm...........making me think.

I would pass and take Garrett.

QBs are so much harder to evaluate. I don't think it will take the first overall pick to acquire Jimmy G, but if it came down to that.........I would pass and take Garrett.

Well Pastor.............I agreed w/what Irish said about Garrett. Not sure why you would feel the need to say what you did? But whatever...........at least it isn't as bad as when you called me the devil for questioning some of the moves Farmer made.

lol, this website can get personal and dirty.

Thank you for answering Diam's question though. I remember asking you earlier what kind of compensation you would give and you didn't want to answer that yet (just that you liked Jimmy)

I think I feel the same way. My co-worker is a big Pats fan and loves the idea of Myles Garrett on his team. I keep telling him, that the number 1 is too much. They'll hopefully take the 12. And if SF or Chi offers a 2 or 3, have fun. Cause they aren't getting Garrett.

Thanks Petey, but I really am ignorant when it comes to trade compensation. Not sure why, but I've never had a good handle on it.

So JG was picked towards the end of the 2nd round 2 years ago, throws a handful of passes as Bradys backup, on the best team in the last 20 years and he's all of a sudden worthy of the 1st overall...nope..hard pass on that...just take Myles. I don't think JG is going to fetch the price that belichek thinks

That's just what my buddy was saying. He was really hoping we'd give that number 1 pick. Not what I said. I just told him to keep dreaming. Although he talks Jimmy G up big-time. He just thinks Brady is some kind of superhuman and has faith that he'll play another 5 years.

But what's our other option? Just wondering? Drafting one of the three (or four if you consider Mahomes), who probably are worse prospects than Jimmy G was in the first place? Add that we've actuallly seen Jimmy play in the NFL. So we have the college ability, he's ready to play, he's young with very little wear and tear, and we've seen him play some football.

A FA? Mike Glennon? Jay Cutler? Tony Romo? I think Tyrod Taylor is staying in Buffalo. Worst case scenario, Taylor and Jimmy aren't available, I'm hoping we can bring over Mike Glennon and have him compete with Cody Kessler. Build the team up and hopefully trade down from our 12 and get another 1st next year to try and manuever to get ourselves a QB if we need it.

And in all fairness, you say the best team in 20 years, but a major reason that team is so good is because of the Greatest QB Ever, Tom Brady. Garapollo filled in pretty well. And Brissette, while a rookie, did not look as good as Jimmy did.

I like Jimmy Garrapolo better than any of the QB's in this years draft. I think the best offer to the Pats would be swap of #1's in 2017 and a conditional pick in 2018. No lower than a 4th round pick in 2018 but can reach as high as a 2nd round pick in 2018 if he reaches certain numbers like 3,500 yards passing with 20+ TD. That way if he bombs the Browns are not married to him and can go after a QB in 2018 and this move only costs them 20 spots in 2017 and a 4th in 2018. If he pans out then our franchise QB will cost us 20 spots in 2017 + a 2nd rounder in 2018.

Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M: 2017 NFL Draft Scouting Report

George Stockburger/FanSided via NFL Mocks Fansided

Projected to be one of the first players selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, Myles Garrett brings a lot to the table

Despite being amongst one of the strongest defensive classes analysts have seen in recent NFL Drafts, Myles Garrett stands out as the brightest blue chip prospect available.

An athletic freak, similar to Jadeveon Clowney, Garrett is expected to follow the path of Clowney as the number one overall pick. The first time I watched Garrett, I thought he looked like LeBron James in pads with his 6’5, 270 pound frame.

Strengths

Garrett explodes out of his stance and off the line of scrimmage, and attacks immediately. I can not wait to see what his 40-time will be at the combine.

His play recognition is off the charts, and can blow up a big play before it happens. Multiple times he’s able to diagnose RPOs (read-pass option) and take the open field tackle. He’s also diagnosed screen plays, and immediately drops into coverage to eliminate the play.

Don’t expect a tight end or running back to block Garrett either.

Weaknesses

Garrett needs to develop more as a pass rusher, which includes adding a much more advanced repertoire. Adding some form of a swim move, or even just utilizing his hands better could make Garrett a deadly pass rusher at the next level.

Against Alabama Garrett was easily locked up, and had his arms stiffen when exploding off the line. This plays into the lack of physical hands, and no secondary pass rush moves. Perhaps it was him facing Cam Robinson that resulted in being locked down several times, but Robinson is the closest thing to an NFL left tackle Garrett has faced in college.

Garrett’s effort in the run game also became questionable. For a player with as quick of a motor as Garrett, you wonder if he’s worn down or opting to take plays off.

This next play especially annoyed me from the snap of the ball. Garrett puts no effort into the play, and makes himself look even worse when the play is extended and comes his way. Where is the “hunter” mentality in Garrett as he almost looks lackadaisical on the field.

Final Thoughts

If Myles Garrett impresses at the Combine and in meetings with NFL team executives, there’s no doubt he’ll be drafted very high. Many project him to be the number one pick, whether it be made by Cleveland or another team that trades up.

With the right coaches, Garrett can be a dangerous pass rusher at the next level. NFL training staffs will get his weight in the correct range, and coaches will mentor him on how to beat NFL tackles more effectively.

While I would not call Garrett a “once in a generation” product like many other first-overall picks, his potential can be that of a perennial All-Pro.

PLAYER OVERVIEW

A three-year starter at Texas A&M, Garrett lined up primarily as the right defensive end in the Aggies' four-man front and finishes his career ranked seventh all-time in the SEC in sacks (Derek Barnett is ranked sixth and Reggie White is eighth). He arrived in College Station as a five-star recruit and earned Freshman All-American honors in his first season with the Aggies, posting 53 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss and a SEC freshman record 11.5 sacks. Garrett had his most productive season as a sophomore in 2015 (13 starts) with a SEC-best 19.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and five forced fumbles to take home First Team All-American and All-SEC honors. He battled injuries as a junior, but still managed 15.0 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks over nine starts and became the ninth unanimous All-American in school history, also earning All-SEC honors for the third straight season.
The Arlington native has the impressive ability to beat blockers with his athletic gifts while also tracking the football with backfield vision (student of the game and his favorite athlete is Pro Football Hall of Famer Deacon Jones). Although he has room to improve the efficiency of his rush attack, Garrett keeps his hips and feet in sync and screams off the edge with the diverse skill-set to win in different ways. His production declined slightly as a junior, but the stat sheet is deceiving as offenses often game-planned for him, attacking with double and triple teams, and health was an issue over the second half of 2016. Overall, Garrett is the No. 1 prospect in the 2017 class with his special ability to get upfield quicker than most due to his combination of athleticism, length and football intuition. He is the clear favorite to be drafted first overall and should make an immediate NFL impact rushing the passer.

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS: Freakish athleticism and body control for his size. Sudden first step, but the quickness of his second and third steps are just as effective, using long, strong strides. Loose-hipped with the elastic flexibility to bend, spin and get underneath blockers. Fluid movements to drop and handle space. Converts speed to power and uses natural momentum to barrel through bodies. Understands leverage to put blockers on skates or set the edge as a run defender. Long arms and has worked hard to fill out his frame, appearing noticeably stronger at the point of attack on 2016 tape - uses his length to knock down the football (five passes defended and three blocked kicks in his career). Violent hands to maintain separation between him and blockers. Diverse set of hand tactics to attack in different ways. Upper body strength to be a reliable finisher on tackle attempts. Twitchy reflexes to read, react to movement and attack screens and misdirection plays. High pain threshold to play through injuries - played the second half of the 2016 season while nursing a lower left leg injury. Defensive captain as a junior in 2016. Consistent production with 48.5 tackles for loss in 30 career starts, leaving Texas A&M sixth in school history with 32.5 sacks, half sack behind Von Miller (33).
WEAKNESSES: Various moves in his pass rush arsenal, but his move-to-move transition requires polish to better counter. Overaggressive and needs to maintain proper position vs. the run to contain the edge and keep the ballcarrier inside. Ability to win at the point of attack is based more on timing and explosiveness rather than core power and can be shielded from run lanes - can get tied up on inside rushes. Logs a lot of snaps, leading to him taking some plays off. Injured his lower left leg on a cut block vs. Arkansas (Sept. 2016) and missed two games and didn't play at full health most of the second half of the season.

NFL COMPARISON: DeMarcus Ware, Denver Broncos: Garrett is longer with more growth potential, but he and Ware are both outstanding athletes off the edge who have the savvy and natural gifts to be remembered as NFL greats.

NFL.com:
OVERVIEW
The Dallas area Defensive Player of the Year as a high school senior and member of an athletic family (mother, sister were college track stars, father Sean played in the NBA), big things were expected from Garrett upon his arrival in College Station. He didn't disappoint. The consensus Freshman All-American and second-team All-SEC pick had 11.5 sacks as a freshman. Garrett then added finalist honors for the Lombardi and Hendricks Awards as the nation's top defender as a sophomore with 19.5 tackles for loss and tying for second in the FBS with 12.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. While fighting a knee injury suffered early in 2016, Garrett was still named first-team All-American and All-SEC as a junior (15 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks) while playing in 11 games, starting just nine.
ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Chiseled physique with functional strength, and not just beach muscles. Bigger than people think. Uber-athlete with spring-loaded hips and elite explosiveness. Powerful legs allow him to fight through redirect blocks and corner the edge at a sharp angle. Dominant pass-rush ability and production in college. Remarkable burst off the snap. His first three steps can throw an offense into disarray. When he times the snap, tackles have almost no chance of catching him at the edge. Wicked, whirling, dervish inside spin move that's reminiscent of Dwight Freeney's. Charges, coils, and springs up into tackles to help facilitate a quality bull rush. Game-wrecking potential. Has game experience against the likes of La'el Collins, Shon Coleman, Cam Robinson and Laremy Tunsil. Can play with a hand in the ground or standing. Able to spin in either direction out of block engagement. Lightning-fast inside charge extremely disruptive against the run. Gobbles up grass with long strides in open-field pursuit. Plus acceleration to the runner. Quick twitch creates ability to bound suddenly into running backs looking to charge past line of scrimmage. Outstanding rate as a tackle finisher with running backs and quarterbacks rarely escaping his clutches. Looks to maintain run fits rather than play hero ball. Has ability to play on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
WEAKNESSES Relies heavily on tremendous athleticism and explosion. Still learning how to string moves together and work with a pass-rush plan. At times, will take too long to activate counter moves when initial attack has stalled. Effort level appears closely tied to fatigue level at times. As pass rusher, uses hands reactively too often rather than proactively. Gets too cozy with blockers and will ride block for too long. Needs more urgency in disengagement. Would benefit with violent stick-and-move punch quickness into blockers. Has to work overtime to set a strong edge. Gets uprooted and widened out by quality run-blocking tackles. Never played in more than 70 percent of the defensive snaps in any of his three seasons at Texas A&M. Scouts are convinced he took plays off to protect his health this season.
NFL COMPARISON Julius Peppers
BOTTOM LINE Elite edge rusher who possesses rare explosiveness and the fluid-movement skills and agility of an NBA shooting guard. Good size, but he's never likely going to be a hold-your-ground run defender, and might be best suited as an outside linebacker. However, his ability to explode into the backfield through a gap or around the edge gives him disruptive potential on every snap. Garrett still needs to fine-tune his pass-rush strategy and could stand to give more consistent effort from the start of the snap until the whistle. But his pass-rush production and athletic traits point toward an all-pro career.
-Lance Zierlein

They express some of the same STRENGTHS and WEAKNESSES that I see. Even though I have concerns I think he still has the highest ceiling of anyone at that position, and believe he will be the pick.

Sorry It's so long

j/c...

I've been thinking...yes I do that time to time laugh

We take MG...I think that's 99% a done deal.

49ers, Bears, do not take QB cause its not a top heavy QB class and the D players are outstanding.

Jets you never know but remember they used 2 Second round picks the last two years on QB and both are on the team. Will they take another???

Will Buffalo be the first to take QB? If not we might have the first QB pick at 12.

Oh and if Pats call us and say SF offered #2...I don't believe them - that is the Pats wanting Garrett!

There are talks that Myles Garrett will run a sub 4.50 forty yard dash and that he will weigh in around 270 pounds. That is not human.
