This looks like a tough College hoops March. (for me)

Normally, in order of interest, I’d follow:

Ohio State Men
UConn Men
Ohio State Women

After these, I root for the biggest underdogs.

After that I root against certain teams I hate:

Louisville
Maryland

Well, it’s unlikely the Buckeye or UConn men will make the NCAA Tourney (unless they win their Conference Tourney).

Maybe the Buckeye women will pull off the upset of the year and beat the UConn Women in the NCAA Tourney.

Maybe once I play some brackets I’ll get excited following the teams I have in that.

Are you rooting for any other team(s)?

I don't have a favorite. But like to watch major conference games (Big 10, Big 12, ACC, PAC 12) ... it's a pretty even year across the board with anybody able to win big games.

I think Kansas might have the most talent, but Nova, Duke, Gonzaga, UNC, Louisville, etc aren't far behind

Should be a fun month

Always root for the Kentucky Wildcats to win it all.

Also, like the Dayton Flyers would like to see them make some noise.

Dayton should be in correct?

I will be rooting hard against UConn and Gonzaga and anybody else your Maryland-hating arse decides to root for. tongue

Seriously, I will root for Maryland in the mens and womens. If Maryland's women get knocked out, I'm not all that interested in the women's bracket after that.

As for the men, I will root for Maryland and if Maryland isn't playing, I will root for chaos. I want to see a 16 beat a 1, and 15s beating 2s.. I want pandemonium and teams I've never watched advancing. I want to hear the story about the kid who wanted to go to UNC but wasn't offered a scholarship and ended up going to UNC Wilmington, and I want to see them beat UNC.. those are the kind of things I want to see.

And above all else.. an early Duke exit is always very enjoyable to watch.

They've been a tough out in the past few years. They could make some noise

I love march madness, it's my favorite time of year. The NCAA tournament is the one event that never lets you down. I'm a Duke fan, I think they are good, but just to many injuries.

I response the Maryland fan that hopes we lose early, I am so glad those dregs of society are in the Big 10 now. I get tired of watching their fans set couches on fire when they lose.

I'm an ACC guy myself. IMO, it's the best basketball bar-none. The B10 just seems so boring and dull this year

SMU and Cincy both look pretty good.

But..... UConn wins the conference a good amount. I think there's a chance we can make it into the tourney

OSU for both Men's and Women's. Beyond that, I'll root for the Ohio and Oregon teams and underdogs, and typically against the big programs that are always up top. The exception is I always want KU to do well.

I looked at the bracketology, looks like Akron, Dayton, Xavier, and Cincy are slated to be in the Men's tourney as of now.

On the women's side, it looks like OSU is the only Ohio school. Oddly they're predicting a 4 seed, but the team is ranked #8/#9 depending on the poll, and 3 of their 5 losses came from top 5 teams.

If Thad could recruit like 3 of those teams then it wouldn't be a problem. Or at least develop the players he can bring in.

Archie Miller got Giannis's little brother enrolled at Dayton. Kostas Antetokounmpo has to sit this year, but should be able to play for them next year. He'll be a freak.

Archie graduated from NC State. It may be interesting but Dayton has a very good recruiting class so he may not leave.

I honestly don't know why he would leave Dayton for that job. To me, it's one of the worst jobs in America for 3 reasons.

1. Your fan base expects you to win like it is 30 years ago.

2. Your university is 100% committed to football.

3. you live within 20 miles of 2 of the top 5 programs in NCAA history.

So, it's kinda hard to win there.

I heard a report that a mentor of both Archie and his brother Sean told them to never take a job at any level unless you feel that job is a top 3 job in the conference it plays in. NC State might be his alma mater but no way it fits that criteria.

Me too. I left Chicago a couple years ago, but while I was there, I started getting into NW basketball. Collins is a good coach. They spent good money to hire him.

Getting real competitive in football will be difficult for NW because of how many guys you have to recruit for a team. But in basketball, it's 13 guys. Much easier sell, much easier to get better.

Basketball is something NW could become real good in. Especially for guys who maybe want to go into the Commentator Business after the NBA or after their college career is over. It's a wonderful university with one of the best communications departments around.

Go Cats!

But don't count our Huskies out yet! Remember, all we gotta do is with the AAC Tourney. We've done that a couple times already. Losing to ECU the other day was pretty lame, and this team this year is pretty weak. (So many injuries).

But we still stand a shot. Ollie is a good Tourney Coach IMO. I'm not sure how I feel about him as a Coach, but usually, we're doing well at the end of the season (just not this year)

Oh, and have you seen that HBO Documentary on the Conn Girls? My wife wanted to watch it, so we watched the first episode this week. It was pretty good. It's like a mini-series. March To Madness it's called.

Not lately.

Over the last 10 years I would have to say the top 3 programs in no particular order would be Wisconsin, Michigan St. and Maryland. Ohio St. and Purdue would probably the next two teams.

Purdue struggled until the last yr or 2 and maryland hasn't been in the BIG long enough so I would say yes tOSU would be there behind MSU but ahead of Wisky if you add total records and BIG Championships ...

I would agree with all of that except maybe #2.. NC State waffles between basketball and football and is 100% committed to whichever one is better at the time.. and lately they haven't been very good at either.

In talking to state fans around here, when they are talking with Georgia Tech and Wake Forest fans, they are a basketball school... when talking to UNC and Duke fans, they are a football school...

Yeah.... We probably shouldn't be in the AAC. The ladies gotta play the toughest non-conference schedule out there though. And Tulane almost beat us. 63-60 in our 101st win.

Best team we've played this year IMO is Maryland. That PG of theirs is really good. Kinda wish we got her. Destiny Slocum. We have this frosh girl, Crystal Dangerfield (great name on her), but she's not as good. She's good and will end up being very good, but that Destiny Slocum is dirty. I just like the way she plays. She reminds me a bit of Moriah Jefferson (Ex-Conn PG who went 2 in the draft last year) without as much athletic ability. Moriah handled the ball like a dude. I saw Slocum cross over a girl and hit a jumper like a dude the other night against Purdue

Slocam, Walker-Kimbrough, and Jones for Maryland could all either start or play considerable minutes for UConn... but UConn has about 6 or 7 players at or near that level... and they just wear you down. You have to rest your starters at some point and UConn's 4-7 players are just so much better than everybody else.

UConn is extremely deep. But they're also very well coached. Geno gets the girls to play together well, and just to play well, period.

We've got this girl Katie Lou something, who IMO is playing basketball better than any girl out there right now.

After that, I'd agree. Slocum, Jones, and Walker-Kimbrough are all very good players. Match-up with any in the country.Whether they'd start gets tricky, because it's how they all fit together. Kia Nurse and Gabbie Williams are very good players for UConn as well. I think Jones would start at Center for us. But we have our own girl, Collier, who's pretty good as well.

But right now, this girl Katie Lou, she's really really good. You'll see her in the tourney and say "Wow". I think last night she made 9 3's in a row against South Florida, lol. She's money.

EDIT: She went 10 for 10, tying an NCAA Record. And she even did the Michael Jordan shrug
