I fell asleep last night listening to WTAM and this news woke me up from a deep sleep. "LCB is planning on coming to training camp and playing this year!" It was around 6am when I heard them say that and I got so pumped,,I wanted to call everyone and cheer!!! But I went back to sleep and came here just to see if it was some kind of sick dream

I just hope it works and he doesn't rush back into anything. Thats a nasty injury and sickness he had to deal with and if he tries to do too much too quick it might backfire and do more harm than good. But, if he can it's amazing and if the doctor says OK then lets see what he can do. I just hope they don't have him out there on day one. Lets have him in the weight room or something just in case the no-pads kicks his ass 2 times in a row hehe

Yeah, hopefully he can come back this year and play well, even if it means starting out on the PUP list.

To All,

Don't get your hopes up, and any talk of 1,500 yards is not realistic.

You can tell it's pre-season, and reality hasn't set in yet. Pre-season is a time for hope and optimism. Remember last year when so many people were predicting 11-5, playoffs, and Super Bowl.... Bentley was a part of those hopes. Of course, any talk of LCB coming back is going to set hopes high.

After more than a year out of football, with a serious knee injury and a life threatening post -op infection, just having Bentley talk of being back on the Line is a real feel good story. I hope that Bentley is able to play again, but many players have unsuccessfully attempted comebacks. Couch tried a comback last year with the Packers. Some who have tried to comeback were never able to play at the NFL level again, others could play but never reached their former level of play again.

I wish Bentley well, but we all must remember, fairy tale endings usually only happen in fairy tales....

11-5?

Superbowl?

I don't recall this. I remember 9-7 and 8-8 pipe dreams, but not superbowl.

Shep.. "Are you forgetting he is a superhuman Buckeye???"

Why that crack?
Because he's from OSU?
Or just a crack to OSU fans?
I've noticed the salty way you speak lately and I wonder why the mood swing..
I'm here in the midst of the Buckeyes and I don't homer NONE of them..I wish them success but I'm harder on my critques of them than anyone from Columbus..

It was a joke.

Many people on here are homers when it comes to Buckeyes, and that was the joke I was making.

It's more obvious to fans of other NCAA teams (as Ballpeen is) and that is why I made the joke in response to his post.

Nothing salty, no mood swings....just a joke.

I have posted many times my feelings on this topic----I hope first for Bentley to have good health and be able to live an enjoyable life, and secondly I hope that he is able to return to the field and play the game for the team that he grew up adoring as we all did.

Nothing more, nothing less.

The last time I went over there was when this board was down and it was scary. Like walking into a bathroom where your Grandma just got out of the shower scary.

I remember when I was a kid he was driving around my neighborhood and I had been drinking all day, he stopped and asked us where Gabby was (his girlfreind/baby momma who I was freinds with), and asked me why I was drunk mid day.

I leaned into his car to tell him "because St. Ignatious SUCKS" as I ran off!

Your right about my shaking my head.

Let's try to redirect.

I doubt LCB will be able to be a full time starter this year. Even if the knee was 100% I have a hard time believing his conditioning will be adequate.

The oline I would like to see?

LT Thomas
LG Steinback
C LCB at 100% but think it will be Fraley this year
RG McKinney, if 100% this guy can be a mauler. If not healthy enough Tucker.
RT Shaffer

Now I realize that a lot of you want Tucker at RT and to trade away Shaffer. I think trading Shaffer for the sake of trading him would be a mistake. I really like Tucker but let's be honest here. How many seasons does he have left in the league? I would put the over under at 2. I think Shaffer can be a solid RT for years. If we get rid of him we lose a lot of depth at RT and then we would also have no potential future RT on the roster. While Butler may be a solid backup he will never be a starting caliber RT.

RG is a different story. While I think if healthy McKinney (if he resigns) can be a quality starter for us for years. If not healthy or if the unbelievable occurs and I am actually wrong about McKinney then we have Tucker and Freidman as options and we buy time for one of the young guys to develop and step up. Personally I like Matua over Sowells myself.

Center. I hope LCB is the boy for the next decade. If not Fraley can hold the fort for a few years. If it looks like LCB won't be back (either because of the knee being unable to hold up or if it does hold up but he just isn't near the player he once was) then we need to start looking to acquire (ie draft) a young center to develop as a replacement for Fraley when his contract runs out.

LT/LG - Hopefully set and one of the premier LT/LG combos for the next 10 years.

I think the best thing to do is just expect Fraley...I mean he works really hard, is a good technician, and isn't exactly a bad player.

I like many on here have a soft spot for our local kids who come home to the play for the Browns. I just don't see Bentley coming back this year, if ever. If he does I don't see him being as good as Fraley, at least this year.

I don't know where to rate Hank when it comes to centers but I think he will play better in what seems to be our new blocking scheme. He appeared to be one of our more consistant lineman last year and with his age and effort he puts out I don't think we will have to worry about his skills diminishing.

I have a question (maybe a dumb 1) for those who know better or maybe play(ed) OL:

Since LCB has played both C and G....which position would be better to protect his knee? Or isn´t there much difference at all? I´m just curious....

First I was thinking C but then I thought about the split second he loses to protect himself during the snap and maybe G would be better...I just don´t know

What do you think?

Shep dude, not every conversation follows a script. Ever been sitting around with a bunch of buddies and the talk switches topics? Thats all that happened. Come on bud, it's not a huge deal

Anyways, thank God we resigned Fraley. Hank played very well there last year and seems like a good guy on the line. I am just really worried LCB isn't going to come back anywhere near the caliber he was before. I know just him rejoining the team is huge and it says a lot for his character and desire to play for us but I am worried about that. I just hope he doesn't try to do too much too fast and set himself back again.

With the moves and draft I think we FINALLY have a great line. Add LCB into the mix and we have one of the best (if he comes back to previous form). With everyone saying this team should gel this season and push ahead next year this could be the start!!
