Just curious on just what kind of effect just having LCB around the locker rooon will have. I mean, here is a guy who it seems truly understands what it means to be a CLEVELAND BROWN. He understands the tradition, fan base, and rivalries in the division.

He has/had an injury that many thought he would never come back from and may have even had a hard time walking agian. Yet, here he is, with a possible comeback on the horizon.

Even if he is put on the PUP list for the begining of the season, I would like to believe that just having him in the locker room, the wieght room, and at film studies would be a huge motivator for guys like Thomas, Sowells, and some of the other young O-lineman (hell, it might even motivate Dorsey to develop a work ethic ).

Maybe he plays this yr., maybe he doesn't, but I honestly feel, just having him around the team can be nothing but a positive.

I sincerley hope that we can get LaCharles back at 100%, if not this yr. then next, but my foremost thought is that he doesn't do anything that could ruin his life.

Get yourself right first Bentley, then come get the Browns right!!!

I love Bentley, he's one of my favorite Buckeyes of all time, but I don't want to see him come back, just to reinjure the knee and be done for good.

Excellent question. Unfortunately I do not have the answer for you. Hopefully someone else will have the answer for the both of us.

I have a question (maybe a dumb 1) for those who know better or maybe play(ed) OL:

Since LCB has played both C and G....which position would be better to protect his knee? Or isn´t there much difference at all? I´m just curious....

Not a dumb question...

I don't think that one would be any better than the other.....as an OLman, you rely a GREAT DEAL upon your legs and your feet, and with the weight these guys carry now that's a lot of torque when they pivot at all.

That's why we see more injuries nowadays from this unit than we used to, because they are playing at heavier weights.

People may think all a C has to do is provide a straight ahead forward push on running plays, and simply clog up the middle for pass protection. Not true at all. When playing against a NT in the 3-4, he has to be able to turn the Tackle away from the direction of the run. Against the 4-3 he has to call out the blocking assignments, including his own, and may have to counter a LB coming up the gut on a blitz, or a Safety.

As a Guard, (you don't often see it on TV or at the game because most people follow the ball and don't see the rest of the workings of a football play), but a lot of counters or sweeps will have a G pull from one side of the OL to the other and help block that side of the DL or a LB. Traps are tricky as well because they require a wider range of motion involving the legs and feet.

You have to be able to move your ass and your feet at the same time to play on the OL effectively, and the point between those points is the knees.....
