j/c: @MikeSilver names Rick Wagner, Kevin Zeitler and Dont'a Hightower as possible targets for the Browns in free agency. https://twitter.com/MarcSesslerNFL/status/839186483047096320.@MikeSilver also reiterated his Combine message that 'Myles Garrett will almost certainly have his name called first' by the #Browns. "Almost Certainly" is that just a better term for MAYBE...lol
Well didn't Wagner just sign? Zeitler is a no brainer. Hightower made it known he wants to play with his Buddy again.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said to "keep an eye on" the Browns in trade talks for Rams franchise player CB Trumaine Johnson.
The Rams just placed the franchise tag on Johnson for the second year in a row but it doesn't sound like he's long for Los Angeles. Apparently the Rams feel Johnson is a poor fit for Wade Phillips' defensive scheme, which emphasizes man coverage. The Rams have over $100 million in cap space and could easily take on Johnson's $16.7 million salary for next season. Pairing Johnson with Joe Haden is certainly an interesting possibility.

Regardless of what the rules say, I assume Pryors cap knows exactly what everyone will be offering by now.
Which scares me.
Because that would lead me to believe he knows someone else will pay more than us, and is just waiting to sign with them when he can.
(High speculation)

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, free agent Dont'a Hightower had a "positive conversation" with Bill Belichick about his future last week.
Per Rapsheet, Hightower will "explore" his options but remains open to returning to the Patriots. New England would obviously love to have him back, but if past free agency periods have taught us anything it's that the Patriots aren't going to get into a bidding war. The Browns and Dolphins have both been linked to Hightower.

Draft is deep at talented CB's.
I'd be happy with a rookie added to our secondary and some pressure on the QB and agree they will look much better. We do need an impact at safety in addition though.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

#1 Garrett #12 Hooker #33 Lewis deal
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I like Johnson a lot, but like others have said...........this draft class is freaking loaded w/excellent corners. I'd rather we keep Pryor, address the OL in FA and maybe add a LBer, and then use the draft to draft Garrett, improve the secondary, and then just upgrade the entire roster w/an influx of talent.
This is a very good draft class. Best defensive class in a long time.

I like Jordan Lewis a lot too. He's short, but he can jump.
I think he is a much better player than the overhyped Peppers.

I think he is a much better player than the overhyped Peppers. +10...Lewis does very well at maintaining coverage and staying with his wideout...also pretty damn good for a 21 year old for playing with his back to the ball...With 5'10 and a 4.54 that should, well I hope will keep him there for our second 2nd round pick. Plays run well, and plays much more to 6'0 204 than his listed size. Peppers tempts me, however scares me...anyone without a true position is a project...He projects more of SS, noway at CB and I cant see him as a fulltime LB as well. Sometimes He tackles too high and wiffs on coverage. With him creeping in on the LOS really helped him. And with a recent report of some teams asking him about playing running back instead...I wonder if they found more flaws in his game...He could be a jack of all trades with his return skills...but I would agree with flutcuation to his game, comes the risk of him busting or disappointing as well. I dont like him as a 1st round round pick. But he does somewhat tempt me after that round is over. Another corner I really like is Corn Elder from the U...probably will be limited to nickel and dime duties, small and fiery...reminds me of Skrine, and plays bigger than his size as well.

Yeah im pretty happy about that. Wouldn't mind him in the 3Rd or later as he can cover naturally but terrible reading routes and kind of a puss.
Whites one of the sMalletts cbs but the kid is all effort and can stay with those quick Antonio brown types like no one in this draft imo.

Among the teams expected to be extremely competitive for A.J. Bouye: Texans, Titans, Jaguars, Colts, 49ers, Browns — Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) March 7, 2017
All of Texans corner A.J. Bouye's contract proposals average $12 million or higher, according to sources — Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) March 7, 2017

I always wonder with Bouye...if he was a product of that fab front 7...or actually a superb corner...I only watched one whole Texans game last year, so I have no idea.

Again..........this corner class is loaded. I don't think we should spend huge money on a corner in FA. Just an opinion...

I agree. Though Vers I know you aren't big on contract issues so I'll say this. Generally if a position is strong in FA or the draft it tends to drive prices down by flooding the market. While the top 3 or 4 guys guys might be expensive we may be able to get a bargain later as teams prefer to wait. Even if it's just a prove it contract. You can never have too many cbs and if signing one means we only have to burn 1 of our 4 picks on a db early I could support that especially if that means a new 3T or TE in the 2nd. I still want to load up on rookie dbs but if signing a guy means we can be more selective and wait for a value db in the 3rd or 4th I can dig that. Signing a mid tier cb could be the difference between a cb in the 2nd and say...bucky hodges (vaguely remember you loving him) and grabbing a cb later. Thoughts?

I mean there are all kinds of ways to skin a cat. I am just saying I would prefer we don't throw big money at a top corner when there are so many in the draft. Picking up a nickel or dime guy would be fine, but I'd rather not break the bank or trade for one this particular year.
Not saying I am right. It's just how I feel.

What's everybody's thoughts on cyprien? I'm hearing we went after him immediately Big safety almost 220lbs. Plays much better at the line of scrimmage vs in coverage. Has had 4 consecutive years over 100 tackles for the Jags. Only 2 career int and 2 career sacks. If the Browns can fins a bakll hawking free safety to play center field he would be a good signing. Without that he will get exposed in coverage.

Antoine Bethea just got releases from the 49ers.
He doesn't fit the age range I would ideally want....but he's always been a favorite of mine.

The Houston Chronicle reports six teams are "extremely competitive" for free agent CB A.J. Bouye.
Per reporter Aaron Wilson, the Texans, Titans, Jaguars, Colts, 49ers and Browns are duking it out for Bouye's services, and every team's offer is for at least $12 million per season. Bouye has also been linked to the Bucs and Bears. With that many clubs fighting, Bouye could push that number all the way to $14-$15 million. Wilson reports the Eagles are "not a serious player," but that Houston very much wants to keep its young corner.
