Is this worse than our stretch of QBs?

(I say no.)

Quote:
[Britt's] quarterbacks, in order of pass attempts thrown Britt's way, do not make up a particularly proud list: Kerry Collins, Case Keenum, Jake Locker, Matt Hasselbeck, Vince Young, Nick Foles, Jared Goff, Shaun Hill, Austin Davis, Ryan Fitzpatrick and even Rusty Smith have shared a huddle with Britt during his eight-year pro career.

Definitely not.

Foles, Hasselbeck, and Young is already better than anything we had.

First off this was a fantastic signing!! It should not interfere with anything with Pryor. Folks we have 1 halfway decent receiver on our roster and Britt is better than he is. Britt with Pryor and Coleman would be legit.

This is pretty much the same exact deal I would expect for Pryor and it would still give us a good amount of cash to work with. I love it, kid hasnt seen a pass hit him in stride since he entered the NFL. I believe this is one of those cases where the kid just had horrible QB play.

Again, should not effect what we do with Pryor, remember we already released our #3 in Hawkins.

How much would you be willing to pay Pryor? What would your cap be on him? Would you not look for alternatives just in case?

"Gordon caught like 1300 yards and double digit touchdowns with trash at QB...broke records for receiving yards in a single game....i mean...the disparity in talent between Gordon and Pryor is nuts...Gordon is bonafide #1 franchise receiver talent, Pryor is a good #2 probably at best. it is what it is."

Well said sir. As much as i like Pryor he is a #2 at best looking for solid #1 money.

what if we get Gordon back, and re-sign Pryor

How much did "rabbit" Travis Benjamin want 13 months ago, and aren't these very similar players, and;
isn't Benjamins future still > greater than or equal to Kenny Britt's from a production expectation?

Oh well. \0/ Yippee! Go Browns!

So it's not whether we let a player walk and sign another teams cast iffs it's whether you want that player or not

So in this case it's ok because you consider it an upgrade ( I do too) but if you don't then it's a FO fail

I am ok with Britt, but he had some drop issues last year. Never had good QB play, and we can still sign Pryor or another vet WR. Signing the Center from GB was part of the plan Erving is being moved to tackle. Grecco and Joel are back and Joel signed a new deal.

Pryor 2016 16 games 77 catches on 140 targets, 1,007 yards with a 13.1 average and 4 TD's

Britt 2016 15 games 68 catches on 111 targets, 1,002 yards with 14.7 average and 5 TD's

They replaced Pryor's production on paper in the event they can't resign him.

just to add since you mentioned drops... Britt drop percentage 2.7% and pryor 2.9%

Maybe I'm wrong, but I like the Britt signing. As many have said, it does not eliminate the possibility of re-signing Pryor, but if Pryor indicated that he is not going to come back for less than $10, $11, or $12 million per year with horrible guarantees, they they have, at least, proactively replaced him. I think that Pryor is gone, because I don't see the Browns putting a top dollar FA, or last year's top pick, on the bench.

I would still love to have Pryor brought back, but I do think that Britt has replaced him. I think that he's a good replacement, and it's better to go get a fairly equal replacement before he went elsewhere.

I'd give Pryor more ... he has still got potential to get significantly better. Britt has played 8 (?) years at WR and isn't going to suddenly transform his play.

I like the signing a lot.

Well if every FA has to have an established track record in the city that wants to sign him, none would ever get signed.

I think Britt is nice addition. I'm still hopeful that Pryor will sign - it's odd that bar the Pittsburgh rebuttal, there have been no clear associations?

Mac has been right on every post he said in this thread.

You can't build a team by letting everybody go, every year.

Dis-continuity. Keep the team together, or (replace everybody so that nobody is together.
VORP. Value over replacement player, not correctly in this case.

Mac's point is right, everybody else's has been wrong.

Eventually somebody has to stay!
Otherwise the only thing that continues, is the 80% losing rate.

Like Bitonio, Collins and Crow (tagged)? If Pryor is retained, are you guys going to do a total 180? Because of one guy?

And you are never going to have an established record that the new guy is going to put forth the extra effort for your team to win when he get's to your ballclub.

Or even how he's going to fit in with your coaches and players.
It's just like everytime they gather all the NBA all-stars for an Olympic team, 3 months before the games, they aren't a well oiled machine, because they don't "know" each other, and their respcective roles.

Mac is right. You have to establish a Culture.
