`Pittsburgh just gave Brown a boatload and a half of cash, and Roethlisberger has a habit of making even receivers look really good, so them spending a ton of money on a #2 receiver doesn't really make a lot of sense for them.

The Steelers don't usually spend a ton of money on other peoples' players either. They re-sign the guys they like, and let the ones they don't feel are worth big bucks walk. Somehow they usually have players waiting in the wings to replace those who leave.

Rumor and speculation. Teams are drying up. Our offer is still on the table. This just needs to run its course, IMHO.

I don't think that Rosenhaus has poisoned his mind, per se, but I have little doubt that Rosenhaus is urging him to make visits to do his best due diligence and see how/where market value is sitting; get an idea of how things are in other clubs, etc...

In the end, it all benefits us as long as someone doesn't throw a boatload more money at him.

Rosenhaus may be a slimeball, but he's a greedy slimeball.

With us having the best offer on the table, that is good for us.

I hope this is true. There is a chance that if the Browns withdrew the offer they may not announce that because it would screw Pryor and any leverage he has.

I don't believe TP is thinking he is viable at QB.... the Browns had all sorts of QB issues last year and TP threw the ball how many times even when in the wildcat?

Agreed. I think it's DR doing his due diligence.

The Browns might not say anything, but Pryor's agent sure would. Believe me, we'd know and hear about it if that happened.

I think QB is behind him. I feel (and this is JMHO) that he's trying to maximize his payday because he's getting a late start. He should have been on his second contract two years ago but changing positions has thrown off his ability to cash in. I don't harbor ill feelings for him trying to land a big money deal, but the reality is, he's probably only worth about $6-8M right now. That's probably the offer we have on the table. I think they'll exhaust all options and talk to any team that wants to meet before signing with us. At least that way they'll know they turned over every rock and they can sign knowing they got the best deal available. That's good with me. No sour grapes.

I agree that the agent will go ballistic, but probably not until after he's signed.

How many other players in the history of the NFL have been on one team 3 separate times?

Tell that to James Harrison which like him or not (probably more so the "not" side lol), but he's damn near 40 and still playing balls out. Dude even plays special teams from what few Pittsburgh games I watched.

I should have used purple. If he was a TE we probably wouldn't have had this problem. wink

OOber Schwartz came back BEFORE FA started, after he tested the waters of what was out there.

We offered Pryor a more then fair contract he chose to test the market while teams are allowed to make offers to the agents. But Midnight March 9th came and there was no Pryor wanting to sign with us. Nothing close to the Schwartz situation...he was still out there hoping somebody would pony up after all Drew Rohaus was probably telling him so.

We went and go Britt what? well after 12 hours of FA.

Just remember we Released Pryor in September 2015 he was on the couch till December and nobody picked him up - now they are going to for 40mil or more?

What happens to these players is a ONE YEAR DEAL SOMEWHERE...so they can prove themselves another year and get their payday.

jmho

I understand what you're saying. Thank you for the correction (I forgot about the timing for Schwartz). I'm not really sure that makes it such a different scenario, though.

Sorry if already posted. I found this interesting. Browns and Jets are not worth 1.2 million per year extra to play for per Tony Jefferson.

Per SS Tony Jefferson via @MMQB, #Browns & #Jets offered 4-years, $42 million. He took Ravens' 4-year, $36M deal.

What a horrible trade for Carolina. A key pass rusher for them to move up like 8 spots on Day 2. Why in the world would they do this? (Unless maybe it was the comp pick they got for Norman.)

It is puzzling, but supposedly they are going to sign Julius Peppers, so they have his replacement coming. Very weird. Also, Bill Belichick is a jedi (Jedi?), so there is that.

As I recall, he was on the PS and was the only WR with size when all our starters were smurfs. I never understood why we never really gave him a chance.
