I was all aboard the Jimmy G train, but would prefer Cousins. Less of an unknown. That would make me happy.
Jimmy G leaving NE when his contract ends would then be icing on the cake.

I had heard we were pretty much done with a deal of a 2 and 4 for Jimmy then bam it was all of this crazy ass talk of it would take a 1, then it would take more than 1, then it was it would take two 1's. By the time the draft gets here it will take three 1's, Joe Thomas, and your first born.

I specifically asked @AdamSchefter if it's because Pats love Jimmy G so much or Browns wouldn't offer enough. He says it's not about Browns.
https://twitter.com/AnthonyRothman?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor Yeah, Adam is one of the few who i'll bite hard on their content written/said. I don't think NE is going to give him up, regardless the type of things we throw at them. Looks like we're drafting a QB to hopefully be able to play/be groomed to play.

I think you are right about the forever moving target...BB is just playing with the Harvard Boys, trying to see how desperate the Browns front office is.
..but hey, we got Osweiler now...don't need JG.

Jimmy G leaving NE when his contract ends would then be icing on the cake. I don't really want to trade for any QB (Brock doesn't count because that was a salary dump for a pick). Feels like we're going to give up a ton. Just nervous. If the Pats like Jimmy G so much, they'll franchise him and then work out a deal.

..but hey, we got Osweiler now...don't need JG. Well the pats are just trying to get as much as they can and the media especially Mary Kay as she is the one that started the 1 plus crap they just kinda inflated his value to that of an NFl hall of famer. It could still happen, Maybe a pair of 2's and a Nate Orchard could get it done. I dont expect Jimmy to be a Pat after draft day. Then again, a Trubisky could have been our target all along. We have the buying power to go get him whenever we want now.

I was listening to a local sports talk show this morning and they said the Patriots have stated they will not trade JG for even 4 #1's. Is it true who knows but I am getting the feeling JG is not going anywhere. If that's the case maybe we are trading for the wrong QB...time to make an Offer for Brady

JG's social media password = "jimmy" before he changed it today.

Daryl Ruiter @RuiterWrongFAN Schefter just doubled down on with @richeisen "there is no amount of picks they can offer" says Patriots keeping him as insurance for Brady
Anthony Rothman @AnthonyRothman .@AdamSchefter tells us @Browns are not getting Jimmy G no matter what they offer. @971CandR
Unfortunately, I think Bill knows what he has here, and isn't going to let him go. However, I bet the Browns will look at moving up to get Trubs if he falls to 5 imo. They will have "their" guy by the end of April imo.

It'll be interesting if they don't trade JG, how much will the cheap NE Pats pay JG after his contract expires? Especially to be back-up because Tom doesn't seem to going to be retiring anytime in the next two years.

Schefter is right quite a bit of the time, but his arrogance makes me hope he's wrong about this one. The way he said it on Mike and Mike this morning, you'd swear he thinks HE'S Belichick!

It also kills the "Jimmy G isn't a Franchise QB" nonsense. The Browns were rumoured to be on the verge of offering a ton of picks for JG, and Billy Bob said thanks but no thanks.....he knows what he has here imo.
But to your point, you were dead right, and I thought they would trade him I admit.

My money is on that 2nd option. There was a report this morning that Pats team source said Browns couldn't get him for 4 ones.
If that's true I have to think they are planning for life after Tommy sooner rather than later.
I think we all need to double down on our Trubs watching, because that is probably were the extra picks are going imo.

But to your point, you were dead right, and I thought they would trade him I admit. This is along way from over bro ... about 7 weeks away at most from being over ... Everything now is just silliness ... its that time of year ... although i must admit I get a kick out of it when some say its just the Pats trying to raise his trade value ... an example is when they say that Bill told Lombardi to leak it to the press that it will take at least a 1st rnd pick for JG ... all i picture is Sashi calling up Hue in a panic and saying ... "OMG did u see in the USA Today that were going to have to up our offer for Jimmy cause Bill now wants a 1st " ... *LOL* ... cause thats how it works .. *LOL* ..

A few points:
--Diam. I won't apologize. I think that something got lost in the communication line. I know that I argued w/guys who said that NE would not trade Jimmy G if he was any good. I proposed that they might trade him because he could become a FA next year. I still think that applies.
--I guess I just made my next point, because I think NE would be taking a huge risk by not trading Jimmy G this year. There almost certainly is a lot of interest in the guy and they can probably get a a lot of compensation. They won't get that if he leaves in FA. And if they franchise him, they will be paying top QB money [Yeah, top QB money] to a guy who might not play in NE for another five years.
--I am not making any bold predictions, but as I said yesterday, I think there are a lot of twists and turns in this suspense novel before the final chapter is written.

I hope you guys are right.......I think the Browns are going to offer a very nice haul of picks for JG. I just don't know if Bill will be interested.
Again if any of the stuff Scheffler and others are reporting is true, and they walk away from multiple top 50 picks , then I have to believe that they don't see Tom playing another 5 years........no way do you turn down that type of haul for backup QB "insurance".
You only walk away from that if you have designated JG your future. I really hope you guys are right and Bill is playing chicken.

It's his life. Not for nothing, and I like Schefty, but he got burned yesterday by announcing the Boys were going to release Romo, then had to eat his words when it was announced they wouldn't release him. I like the guy, but he's not infallible.

Right about what, BigWillie? I didn't say they were going to trade him. I am talking about the logic of trading him vs not trading him. I think they are taking a bigger risk by not trading him.
I have no idea what they will do. All I can do is to try to make sense out of the situation.

It's okay. And I think that is where Diam and I mixed up our wires awhile back.
I never claim to know things when I don't. I try to make sense of things, but I don't make many predictions.
I like saying things like: "I can see it happening because of A, B, C," or, "I can see why this won't happen because of A, B, C."

I think when people are posting rapid fire on a topic, board hypotheses can slowly morph into "facts". We work ourselves into a frenzy.
It's not a big deal, as long as everyone can back away from their keyboards and take a breath, when necessary.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Something tells me Os will be our starting QB this year and that we won't have our QB of the future this year but next year. I would not be surprised to see us move down from 12 for future picks next year so that we have the ammo to take the best QB available.

I would be shocked if he is on the team for any of the OTAs. I also think we will trade down from 1/12, but not because we want ammunition for a QB. We will do it because that is what we do.

Call me crazy but I still think we have a great shot at getting JG. Pats just traded #32 for Brandon Cooks. I'm thinking they are going to want some more picks now...

See I read that as going all in for Tommy's last ride, but can easily see it being they know JG is going to net them a ton of picks.
I guess we won't know until around the draft for sure

I just don't get why people want to give up a bunch of picks for a guy with such limited experience. I rather use 12 on a qb and keep our other picks. Only qb I'd trade for is cousins

JMO. Tom Brady will be 40 years old when this season starts. He, just like any other QB, is only one hit away from being on the sideline. The Patriots have a very good chance of going back to the SB if they stay healthy. So far it looks like they got even better as a team and we haven't even had the draft yet. I can't see them trading their insurance policy, i.e. JG away for anything. They still have a good chance of getting to the SB with JG. Without him I'm not so sure.

So we can draft a rookie, or possibly trade a bunch of picks next draft to trade up for a rookie..
But we cannot trade for a guy because he lacks experience?

But we cannot trade for a guy because he lacks experience? you stay at 12 and grab a guy. or, do what you decide, and give up multiple 1st rounders for a guy drafted in the 2nd round. i know which why i rather go. just based off of pure bust potential, i rather us bust on ONE 1st rounder than potentially 2 of them on one guy. we saw the redskins sell the farm for one guy. remind the board how that worked out. and yes, if we did give up two first, you go for the guy thats proven, like cousins, which is what he suggested.
