Same here.

He's a racist. He has a big problem with black british actors playing parts in american movies about slavery.

It's ok for illegals to come and take our/my job(s) but heaven forbid a black british actor takes a job portraying black slaves in an american made movie. tsktsk

He hates black british actors!!!

Oh the irony of it all. willynilly

Honestly, I don't usually care how actors feel. Can't say I value their opinions too highly. I respect some of their good (and sometimes very good) causes.

But I have no interest in the political beliefs or stances of celebrities living lives that have very little to do with any of us.

So, I'd still see a movie with Samuel in it. As long as they aren't criminals/likely pedophiles like Roman Polanski, Bill Cosby, and possibly Woody Allen, I don't really care.

How about we get this thread back to what Swish meant for it to be?

I haven't seen Kong and probably won't. But, I know my son was looking forward to it. We stopped at a Sports Bar in Charleston after his consultation w/a surgeon on Wednesday and the preview for the movie came on and he got all jacked up.

I was like........."Man, that's stupid. There's been dozens of those Kong films." He started defending it. Well anyway..........I won't go watch it, but I'm sure that it appeals to a certain segment of our population.

The reason they made a new kong is the same reason they made a new Godzilla: they are taking it back old school.

There's going to be a King Kong vs Godzilla, Godzilla vs mothra, etc.

It's also why the new Kong is so much bigger than the originals: he has to be big enough to bang with Zilla.

I'm amped. Also, this year seems to be a way bigger year for action movies. June alone is gonna have the new Transformers, Wonder Woman, Thor, guardians, and my personal favorite franchise: fast and furious.

Quite funny, I was gonna say that because Samuel L. Jackson was in it would be a good reason to see it.

Probably not a movie I'll see in theaters, but definitely watch it on cable. I remember when I was younger I'd never use the phrase, 'I'll wait till it's on tv'. Had to see everything in theaters, I do want to see Guardians of the Galaxy II.

I don't let the political views of celebrities bother me that much. If I did, I'd never see the inside of a theater again, wouldn't watch television or sports (can't let that happen now that it's obvious the FO has been reading my signature grin ).

I liked jacksons part in the movie. There were points in the film that he somewhat carried it. Hiddelton looked a bit out of place sometimes, but I like him as an actor, mainly cause I'm trying to see if he can indeed become the new Bond.

My daughters what to see the new beauty and the beast next week. I really don't but,..,as a dad I'm obligated lol

Any movies coming up you looking forward to?

Also Jc

It's funny watching you guys not see Samuel for political reasons, yet you were the same dudes weeks ago talking about how celebrities need to just shut up and do their jobs.

Why can't y'all just shut up and enjoy the movie, then?

A valid question! How many of you don't talk to neighbors of different political persuasions?

Watching a movie or television show isn't that much different.

I'll bet ya 5 bucks that you wouldn't agree with several of your sports heroes opinions either, but here you all are every Sunday rooting on a bunch of D's and R's whether they agree with you or not.

What? I love Samuel L. Jackson!!!

I am not much of a movie guy. Hard for me to sit still for that long.

I watched The Revenant about a week ago for the first time and thought it was cool. LOL

My son is a big movie buff. I used to be, but I think I have adult ADD or something. I usually am listening to music w/my buds in and watching sports on the tube while I post on here.

Some of them were all up Clint's butt after he talked to an empty chair, so there's also that.

Not a fan of Emma Watson. I think she's a bit overhyped for mainly being known for one role. Also, my oldest made me buy her the new Disney doll that looks like her. I almost launched that hideous thing across the store.

Lol bro that made me laugh so hard, especially since I had just watched Gran Turino before that hilarious scenario played out.

Side note: gran Turino is what inspired me to get the new whip, bro.

I like going to movies for action and horror movies. Anything else and I'll wait til it's either on demand or on Netflix.

Amen.

I play music by folks who lived absolutely scandalous lives... but that doesn't make their music any less beautiful or universal.

Playing the 1812 Overture isn't going to make me want to join NAMBLA.

It's entirely possible to separate the man from the work.
I don't LOL at old Cosby records any more, but it's not because he's The New Coz... it's because my sense of humor has evolved. I can still appreciate what he did when he did it... and I can appreciate what he did for the genre.

I like them when I watch them. It's just hard for me to dedicate the time. Watching sports, listening to music, and doing stuff on the net gives me the opportunity to get up and move around. I just have a hard time sitting in one place for so long.

But............movies are cool. Good topic.

I still think Coz is funny, but maybe that's because I am immature.

I get what y'all are saying, though. One's political/social/religious affiliations doesn't detract from the abilities as artists.

Likewise, just because someone is a good actor, musician, painter, etc........it doesn't mean that their political views are more important than the guy next door.

Y'all know what catches me off guard sometimes?

When you see an actor kill a role....only to find out he's British using an American accent.

Christian bale surprised the hell out of me. I was familiar with his work, like American psycho. Then he absolutely nailed those Batman movies.

But then I heard him on an interview during one of his trips into the deep open lands of china, speaking in his native accent and was like "whoa whoa whoa what the hell is going on here?" Lmao

She can't sit herazz down for 2 hours either. It's why I haven't seen a movie with her in a theater since I got married. I've gone to a couple 'movie parties' with colleagues (6 or 8 of us go to a first-run screening), but daaaang- she'd rather wait til is out on DVD or Streaming.

Drives me nuts to stop a movie for 20 minutes, while she runs around 'doing stuff.'

I mess with her all the time about "attention span" issues.

LOL...............but, it's different.

I can sit for a long time if I am writing or painting. The other day, I spent hours painting small details on a representation of the American flag. But, doing nothing but receiving, like when you are watching a movie, is completely different.

Dude: that jacks me up, too!

The first time I saw Hugh Laurie ( 'House, MD': FOX) in a late-night interview, I was floored. "WTF??? A BRIT???!!!"

Had me totally fooled.

After I started checking in on him, I found out this, as well... dude was a musician, too. Here he is, performing the old blues standard, "St. James Infirmary" (Vers will get a kick out of this)

Haven't paid attention much to movies lately. Other than Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy, not sure what's even scheduled to come out this year.

Damn, that was awesome! I never watched that show, but I remember the previews. And I absolutely love that song...one of my all-time favorites. Slow blues like that reminds me of love-makin'.............slow, long, and rhyminic. That must not be a word, but I think you know what I mean. LOL

Alright, so I am not sure where Swish wants to go w/this movie thing.

Does it have to be upcoming movies?

Can it be favorite movies of all time?

Can it be favorite genres?

Don't wanna hijack the [censored] before I post a few things.

Just movies. Go whatever direction, but it just has to be movie related.

Okay, thanks.

My wife and I have a hard time watching movies together. She likes action movies. I despise them. Too fake. I prefer mysteries and drama type movies where a character faces some traumatic event and has to undergo change. She thinks those movies are depressing...LOL I call her action movies, "shallow."

We both like good comedies, though. Sometimes, they are hard to come by. I remember when we were in the Outer Banks and we were watching some fairly funny movie......Wild Hogs...I think it was called.........and all four of us were laughing hysterically and people were getting annoyed. LOL [censored] was funny, what can I say.

I also like mysteries. I'm a big reader. I probably read 1-2 books a week. But, I like movies that can spin a good mystery. It's fun trying to figure out the unknown. I thought "Seven" was very good. A bunch of others if anyone wants to talk about them.

There was an old movie w/Michael Douglass and Glen Close, called Fatal Attraction. Thought that was good because of how it depicted how easily one's life could unravel w/one bad decision. They call these movies........psychological thrillers, I believe. I like those, too.

Movies make my life fun. It's amazing what they can do. They're currently my go-to for "date night" with my girlfriend. But, we've got to do it a little differently. She's a teacher in another village, and that's 40 miles west of me. We try to synchronize our start times when we play the movie, and we text while we watch.

Lately we've been watching a lot of Disney stuff. Aladdin, The Muppet Movie, and The Muppets were some of our recent. Blues Brother (one of my top five of all time) is in the schedule for the two of us next week.

I just watched Arrival a week ago. I really enjoyed the deep themes, and that it wasn't some shooty sci-fi film.

You need some 'real-life proximity' in your life, My Man.

I totally get how 2017 works... but there's no substitute for feeding popcorn into your hunny's mouth while the movie's running.

You should make arrangements soon.

Just sayin'-
