Did'nt see this noted on the forum today...But I know Sidney Jones was easily in the mix for the 1st round as a stud CB...He will certainly drop and have to head to IR this year. How late do you guys think he will fall? And if you are the Browns...do you take a risk and pick him? Or do you realize picks are risky on their own...and just a lot more risk involved when a serious injury is involved as well.

He might fall to the third or fourth. I'd even say he'd have to be in discussion of our second second round pick. He's dang good. Sucks to see this.

For his sake I hope he doesnt get Ifo'd.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

For his sake I hope he doesnt get Ifo'd. Thats what I worry about...and it will scare teams away. I think the Ifo kid we took from Oregon had multiple ligament tears in addition which made his recovery never come to fruition. I wonder if Sidney Jones drops to the later rounds...or only to round 2 or so (like when Myles Jack and Jaylen Smith dropped) Then again Sidney got hurt much later than they did...poor kid

Yeah I several publications where a lot of guys were saying he's perhaps the best pure corner in the draft...has everything you look for. And his combine was amazing for someone not noted to run that fast. Getting hurt on your pro day has to be the worst way to go, and I hate to see that happen to anyone, especially to a 1st round pedigree.

I'd happily take him with our lower 2nd round pick. Sure he sits this year out, but as long as he's coming back at full strength, why not? He's a high quality CB, and I haven't heard anything to imply that he won't make a full recovery.

Man, what a drag.
He is one of the guys I've had my eyes on and was hoping we might draft depending on how things fell.
That's a damn shame!

Browns will draft Jones. Mark my words I wouldn't be opposed to it. Stash him for a year and let him heal.

Just had NFL source (in attendance at Washington pro day) text: "It's a torn Achilles" he was told for CB Sidney Jones. As feared. An NFL source in attendance at Washington’s pro day on Saturday told Shutdown Corner that Huskies CB Sidney Jones — a possible first-round pick in April — suffered what was believed to be a torn Achilles injury. It won’t be confirmed until he undergoes an MRI, but it’s feared to be a ruptured Achilles, which is a significant injury. It occurred on what was said to be the final rep of defensive back drills, which makes the news even more unfortunate. The 6-0, 186-pound Jones struggled in defensive back drills and didn’t turn in exceptional testing numbers at the NFL scouting combine and likely felt compelled to improve his performance on Saturday. Washington CB Sidney Jones, one of the top corners in the 2017 NFl draft, appeared to suffer a torn Achilles on Saturday. (AP) More Sadly, all of that was undercut by an injury that suddenly puts his rookie season — and NFL draft stock — very much in question. The timetable for an Achilles recovery time can range from eight to 12 months, depending on the player. That likely makes Jones a PUP list candidate for whatever team drafts him, and he almost certainly won’t hear his name called in the first round now — especially given how deep this draft is at cornerback. Jones started for most of his three years at Washington, intercepting nine passes in his career, and declared early for the draft after being named first-team all-Pac 12 for the conference champions. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source-...213915219.htmlvideo in link

Damn...The Achillis is scary...He may fall a little further than I imagined...rough recovery, specially for that CB position and the back pedalling, twisting, then running...repeat repeat etc...Cant even imagine how down he must feel after that...Hoping he had some insurance like Ifo did...then again didn't Ifo haave insurance for a bowl game? Not sure if ProDay's offer insurance...they should

I wonder if anyone can find the last 10 players who had achillis surgery...I remember Michael Crabtree, he seems to be back at 100%, but I remember it took him like 2 years to get back to his "norm" I wonder what percentage made it back from that...Didn't Garrison Hearst do the same and it wrecked his NFL stint...Hearst was that dude though, had fun watching him.

I feel bad for the kid. Dang.... Same here. Let someone else take on a project. I want to build and grow the team now. And yes, this is crushing news for the kid. I hope he had insurance. You can come back close to 100% with an ACL, but an Achilles? Didn't we have a LB that tore his at the beginning of the season, maybe during the preseason?

I think we'll see more of these college prospects skipping meaningless bowl games and combine workouts. If you make it through your college career and viewed as a top prospect is it really worth it. Poke and prod me all you want get into my head with your interviews and you can measure and weigh me. you got my body of work during my college career to evaluate my atheletic ability. Is it really worth the risk?

j/c...feel sorry for the kid.
On the Browns front it might be a very good investment from one of the 3 Fifth Round picks we have.
We are one of the few teams that has mega picks and can heal a guy up. We have 5 picks in the 5th n 6th rounds most will not make our Roster.
Very sound investment. jmho

Jamir Miller. I believe it was against the Vikings in a preseason game. Ended his career. Reggie Hodges tore his achilles tendon as well and was never the same. Subsequently retired after coming back for a season.

Am gutted for him, he was a top 15 pick and the best cover CB in the draft for my money. I'd still be interested in picking him up - I think he still goes mid to late 2nd but given it's so late in the process, would there be a realistic assessment of the nature of the injury and prognosis on recovery? Man, DBs need their fluidity and change of direction and my worry for him is in terms of confidence coming back post injury. I wish him the very best, what crappy luck for him EDIT: we at least have a surplus of picks and a gamble on such a talent may well be worth it with #52?

Yeah, this isn't an injury you're sure to come back 100%. Sad.

Terrell Suggs tore his left achilles back in 2012 and had double digit sacks the next two seasons. He tore his right achilles in 2015 and had 8 sacks last year.
So, it's something you can come back from, but I'm not sure how it'll affect his quick twitch.

Again, I think there is a difference between a partial tear and a rupture.

Honestly I question athletes who don't take HGH after they've been injured. At worst you miss a year and 4 games, at best you get to come back a month or two early and a lot stronger too.

He got injured on Nov 2nd, 2015. He was back on the field Aug 18th 2016. He started 14 games last year at age 37, I believe. He had a pretty decent year for his age and coming back (70/799/5 TDs). But Steve Smith always has been a different beast.

I always feel bad about my own character when I read these posts. My first thought is always "Man, I feel bad for the guy" but it is always closely followed with "I wonder if we can steal him in the later rounds!" At least my initial thoughts are good.

Since we wiff on picks as it is lol
