But you wouldn't vote for him anyway, again! Actually, if it worked, it would give her plenty of reason to vote for him. But if this report holds true, I wouldn't hold your breath: ‘Robin Hood in reverse’: CBO report on GOP health care plan supports Democrats’ charges WASHINGTON — Democrats seized on the Congressional Budget Office’s report estimating that 24 million fewer Americans would be insured under the Republican health care plan 10 years from now, arguing their colleagues should abandon the effort. House Speaker Paul Ryan put a positive spin on the report. The White House disputed its accuracy. “My god. Stop this now,” Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy Tweeted at Ryan shortly after the report was released late Monday afternoon. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif, called the 24 million figure “catastrophic.” The CBO’s 24 million figure is significantly higher than other independent analyses estimated, and raises questions about President Trump’s initial claims that no one would lose their health care coverage under his plan. The CBO projected that costs eventually would be higher for older people buying coverage and lower for younger people, averaging out to a 10 percent reduction in premiums on the individual market 10 years from now. The CBO also found that the law would reduce the deficit by $337 billion over 10 years. “The CBO’s estimate makes clear that Trumpcare will cause serious harm to millions of American families,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said in a statement. “Tens of millions will lose their coverage, and millions more, particularly seniors, will have to pay more for health care. … This should be a looming stop sign for the Republicans’ repeal effort.” Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price told reporters the White House “strenuously” disagreed with the report, and said it was “not believable” that 14 million people would lose insurance next year after the bill passed. Meanwhile, Ryan released a statement putting a positive spin on the report, arguing it “confirms” that his legislation “will lower premiums and improve access to quality, affordable care.” He argued that the Republican Congress could take additional steps to lower costs that are not reflected in the analysis. “Our plan is not about forcing people to buy expensive, one-size-fits-all coverage,” he said. “It is about giving people more choices and better access to a plan they want and can afford.” House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wis., center, standing with Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden, R-Ore., right, and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., left, speaks during a news conference on the American Health Care Act on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, March 7, 2017. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh) House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., center, standing with Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden, R-Ore., right, and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., left, speaks during a news conference on the American Health Care Act on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, March 7, 2017. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh) Other GOP members of Congress suggested that the millions of people who will lose coverage may not want the insurance in the first place. The Republican bill repeals the individual mandate, instead penalizing people with higher premiums if they leave and reenter the individual market. “Unlike Obamacare, our plan does not force Americans to buy insurance plans they may not want or even need,” House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said in a statement. At least one Republican senator expressed dismay at the government office’s prediction that 24 million fewer people would be covered. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said in a statement the CBO report was a “cause for alarm” and that House Republicans should “slow down” their process of reforming the health care system. A slew of senators heading to the Capitol to vote Monday night, including Sens. Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley, both Republicans from Iowa, said they had not yet had a chance to read the report. “I’m going to read it tonight,” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla, said. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said he would read it carefully. “I think we’re off to a good beginning,” he said of the health care bill. On the floor of the Senate, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., called the bill “Robin Hood in reverse.” “It’s clear this is an eye-popping transfer of wealth away from older people, women and kids and the most vulnerable into the wallets of the fortunate few,” Wyden said, referring to the bill, which cuts Obamacare’s payroll tax on wealthy Americans. “Somehow people have the chutzpah to say it’s a health care bill? I don’t think so.” The legislation is scheduled to be marked up in the House Budget Committee Wednesday before moving to a floor vote. https://www.yahoo.com/news/robin-hood-in...-222738626.html__________ The fact that Ryan and others are commenting on the report let's me know it's legit. 24 mil? Good luck in the mid terms.

I feel like peoples' love for obamacare' policies combined with the unaffordable skyrocketing cost of insurance will force the hand of regulation and price caps. Anything else will be political suicide.

we have to hope, anyway.
the GOP honestly is better off tweaking the current system instead of coming up with a new one.
the ACA isn't close to perfect, or even good, but there has never been a healthcare system perfect out the gate. every country has molded their system for decades now. the ACA IMO is the first painful step needed to go to single payer.
but we desperately need those price caps. people can't honestly think letting big pharma charge whatever the hell they want, whenever they want, is gonna ever work out for the people.

I read the political slant in swishes post, what I saw on the News tonight and what I hear from Nancy and Schumer and I agree with Trump.
Should have let ObamaCare die of its own weight. Then people will stop playing games because they have zero healthcare.

or, they should've just tweaked the system like good leaders do instead of wasting.....how many attempts trying to repeal it, again?
healthcare systems take years and years to develop. for someone who constantly complains about my generation being impatient and wanting everything now, you sure are intolerant of a process that takes time to mold.

It may very well be a trainwreck and he will get voted out. People will keep voting them out until they get it right.
We can have price caps and regulations without single payer. So dont let them make you think that is the only way because its not. People have adverse reactions to the tax implications of that, so single payer probably will never happen.

Nope, two different political parties going at healthcare.
Republicans hate entitlements and mandates while Democrats love big government as daycare for their children.
Obamacare must go away or allowed to stand as is and fail.

is that why a ton of red states in the south are on government assistance? is that also why you republicans love giving out corporate welfare? at least the dems don't pretend to not like big government.

The thing is, with Obamacare, the actual policies are not bad, its just that it does zero to address the high cost of healthcare. So prices went up and it was deemed a failure. But if you ask anyone, they dont mind the policies much, just the high costs.
Trumps plan, thus far, also doesnt address the high cost of healthcare. So it will be a "fail" also.
All of the plans will fail until they man up and deal with the costs.
I am sure that OCD will be happy when I say that so far Bernie is the only one that has a clue. Well half a clue. We dont need single payer but hell to the yes on regulations and price caps. Bernie knows big pharma and the healthcare industries are harming the country and he isnt afraid to stand up to them.

There are many industries in this country that have regulations. It is the responsibility of the government to protect its citizens. When you have industries so out of control that it harms the citizens then the government must step in.

Ok. When the new President puts in price caps and regulations, he can also leave an exception for people who dont want affordable healthcare. You can put your name on that list and enjoy 700 a month premiums. The free market will love you for it.

Obamacare mandates you to be in it! You are coming around finally.

Maybe the Conservative will win this one by blocking the new plan and allowing Obamacare to die.
Then we go back to the old ways, before Obamacare.

Bernie knows big pharma and the healthcare industries are harming the country and he isnt afraid to stand up to them. Health care costs were spiraling way out of control even before the ACA was enacted and continued to do so. You're correct that this new plan doesn't address this at all. The bottom line root cause of all of this (as usual) is greed. As long as health care is a for-profit industry, they will always be looking for ways to cut costs and raise revenue. This means less coverage at a higher price. Until we can have a system that takes profits out of health care, it's going to continue to get worse. I think this is what Sanders is talking about but there has to be a way to do this without the dreaded Socialism tag. As for the mandates that are no longer required, I would ask that someone explain how that will work out when someone does not have coverage and gets very sick. Who pays for it? Obviously the sick person can't afford it because they have no coverage. My guess is that this will ultimately become gov't funded so we all get stuck with the bill. Or do we just let them die and say too bad?

Why do conservatives hate old people? CBO: Republican health care bill raises premiums for older, poor Americans by more than 750% http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/3/13/14914596/ahca-cbo-premiums-age?yptr=yahooThe Republican-backed American Health Care Act would be totally devastating to older Americans who rely on the individual market for insurance, according to an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The bill does bring down overall premiums in the individual market by about 10 percent by 2026 compared with what they would be under current law, the CBO found. But the CBO includes a big caveat: This would greatly differ based on age and income. The CBO offers an example of a single individual with an annual income of $26,500. If that person is 21 years old, he’ll largely benefit from the Republican health care bill. Under the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare), he would on average pay $1,700 in premiums for insurance. Under the Republican plan, he would pay $1,450. But if that person is 64 years old, he would be hurt by the Republican bill. Under Obamacare, he would also pay $1,700 in premiums for insurance. But under the Republican bill, he would pay $14,600 — more than half his annual income. That amounts to more than a 750 percent increase in premiums from Obamacare to the Republican bill. A 64-year-old who’s making $68,200 a year would fare a bit better. Under Obamacare, he’s expected to pay $15,300 in premiums for insurance — because his income would be too high to receive the law’s tax credits. But under the Republican bill, everyone below $75,000 gets a tax credit based on age (with a phaseout for higher incomes). So he would get a subsidy that would reduce his premium to $14,600 — just barely enough to be lower than it would be under Obamacare. Here’s how all of that looks in chart form: A chart of premiums under Obamacare and AHCA. Congressional Budget Office Older people with an annual income of $75,000 or more would get fewer to no subsidies under the Republican bill. So they would likely face higher premiums than they did under Obamacare, much like the lower-income consumer. The Republican bill accomplishes all of this in two ways. First, it abandons Obamacare’s income-based tax credits (which give more money to people with lower incomes) to instead give anyone with an annual salary below $75,000 a tax credit based on age, with older people getting more money and a phaseout for higher incomes. But it also peels back an Obamacare rule that protects older people from higher premiums. Under Obamacare, insurers are generally only allowed to charge an older person about three times what they would charge a younger person — under the theory that older people are often sicker and therefore need to use more insurance. But under the Republican bill, the limit of three times would go up to five times, effectively letting insurers charge older people 66 percent more than they would under Obamacare. Republicans argue this is necessary because it would also let insurers charge younger people less, which would encourage younger and generally healthier people to come into the insurance pool — and therefore bring down the overall cost of health care by making it so more younger, healthier people are effectively subsidizing everyone’s care. The CBO found that’s broadly true. It would bring insurance premiums down in general, and it would cost young people less to get signed up for a health plan. But it would do all of that at a high cost for older Americans.

Also, the republicans keep forgetting about demographics.
The number of older people keeps sky rocketing, as younger people are having less kids at a later age.
On top of that, younger people WILL opt to not have coverage at all if given the choice.
So what does that mean? Old people are screwed. Thanks, republicans!!! You guys really know how to screw everyone over at a ridiculous pace.

You need to chill with the violent left rhetoric.
The right has been murdering people in clinics, and shooting Hindus cause you're too ignorant to tell them apart from muslims, as well as shooting teens cause their music is too loud.
Also, the town halls has a lot conservative voters blasting their elected leaders. Take some responsibility.

You can lie to yourself about some nut guy here and a nut guy there but the truth about the Left is that it is organized... Those raucous crowds at town meetings held by GOP congressmen are in large part the work of a new left-of-center group known as "Indivisible," Newsmax has learned. Its goal is to imitate the success of the "Tea Party" against Democrats and the Obama administration eight years ago. Newsmax has obtained a 26-page manual, dated January 27, 2017, that spells out a course of action for enemies of President Donald Trump and what it calls his "attempt to use his congressional majority to reshape America in his own racist, authoritarian, and corrupt image." Entitled "Indivisible: A Practical Guide for Resisting the Trump Agenda," the manual spells out how to influence members of Congress who, in its words, "care more about getting re-elected than they care about any specific issue." http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Town-Halls-GOP-Indivisible/2017/02/24/id/775464/

And I doubt it organized. Why is it that every time citizens start blasting republicans, there has to be a conspiracy behind it.

Why do they hate America? Why are republicans so racist they claimed our president wasn't from here? Why do republicans hate old people so much they are about to make the cost of healthcare skyrocke? Why do conservatives keep shooting unarmed people all the time? Why do you guys hate non whites so much? Why do you guys worship corporations and money over your own god? Y'know that dinky theater down the back hall of the multiplex that plays movies that came out two three months ago and still makes enough money to be there rather than the dollar theater?
Walk past that theater to the broom closet, open that door and see the size of the space that will be needed for the next RNC if they don't get this right.
Beck had Rand Paul on this morning. He was talking about his plan that would allow people to join group plans that would eliminate the preexisting condition problem.
For instance, I'm self employed, I had a group plan years ago that was through the roof because the only people in the group were my family. Under Sen. Paul's plan, I could join a vast group of other self employed individuals that would drop the preexisting condition problem and costs as well.
That's the way to go.

Conservatives and others are working, within the law, to create a healthcare plan.
Your side is working outside the law by violent protest, shutting down free speech and covering their faces on the streets as they violently protest.
Covering your faces and acting violently is what the KKK used to do.
You are the new KKK.
