Like then or not, Jani Lane was a tremendous songwriter/performer. Perhaps I did overestimate them a bit .... but for rock and roll .... compared the Madonna or the Beastie Boys? Yep, they should be in all day long. At least they were a rock band.

Perhaps a tad overplayed, that 1st Bad Company album has some good memories for me. My junior year in high school I had a girlfriend who was a senior and lived over in Fairview. She loved that album. I spent a lot of time with here and we listened to it a lot! Her favorite track on the LP was "Seagull".
However, I think as a band 'Free' should be in the HoF over Bad Company. Their first three albums are great heavy blues rock and Paul Rogers has a hell of a voice.
Speaking of bands, voices etc. Humble Pie were another "super group" that never translated in the studio brilliantly. Their albums are very solid and some songs truly shine as absolute gems but, they are inconsistent. As a band, however, they were tremendous. AND, Steve Marriott has to be up there as one of the all time greatest rock singers. Of course, they also featured a young Peter Frampton.
Bad Company guitarist Mick Ralphs was also a founding member of Mott the Hoople.
I'd put All the Young Dudes in my top 10 favorite albums all time.
Hey PDX I had three female cousins named Pugacz in Fairview Park in 1973. (I lived there from 1971-1972, 10th grade Fairview Park High).
One of them was a cheerleader - Mickey. (12th grade) (but I'd guess she was more of a Three Dog Night fan)
Hey, Three Dog Night was the most popular American band for several years in the early 70s. I'll bet they had a dozen songs that made top-40:
Joy to the World Black and White Never Been to Spain Momma Told Me Not to Come Celebrate Eli's Comin' Shambala One (is the loneliest number) An Old Fashion Love Song Pieces of April Family of Man One Man Band Chest Fever Try a Little Tenderness Liar

I'm a bit younger than your cousins, brother. I graduated high school in '87 so my Bad Company lovin' Fairview gal graduated in '86.
She was an awesome girlfriend. We went our separate ways and lost contact when I left Cleveland for college. Life goes on. But, nothing but good memories. Hey, after all she also helped me reevaluate Led Zeppelin III, which at the time I dismissed as weak and soft. Now it's my favorite Zepp album!
I also figured that I'd post one video here. The surviving members of Warrant hooked up with Robert Mason, who was a lead single in the Lynch Mob. (actually, he had replaced Jane before he died) It is kinda funny to see some of the members of the band then and now. LOL (in their video) One guy, who had long whipping hair, is now bald. Man, am I getting old?
I love one of their more recent songs, "Life's a song".
It seems to me that there are 2 classes of "classic" rock bands, There are many who tour on their old stuff, putting out "best of" albums, (maybe with 1 or 2 new songs) and others who record new stuff, knowing full well that their audience is smaller than it was in their heyday, but they still love creating music.
I really enjoy Night Ranger, and I think that Jack Blades is probably one of the most underrated guys in all rock. Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, Shaw Blades, Revolution Saints, and other projects as a bass player, vocals, and/or as a producer. How is this guy not in the Rock Hall of Fame? Anyway, Night Ranger has a new album coming out next week, and they have already released 4 singles from it. Here are a couple of their releases from the album that I really like. Enjoy. I don't buy a lot of music anymore, but I'll buy this one.
They just celebrated their 35th anniversary, are in their 60's, and still rocking. I am trying really hard to figure out how to see them on my birthday (April 21, i anyone else is interested lol) in Warrendale PA. (about 45 minutes away from my home) I have seen them live, and they kick butt. I have to figure out how to get my feet and back to cooperate.
Man there is a lot of great music out there.

I grew up in the tupac era and he deserves hall of Fame recognition, but I wouldn't think the rock hall one by all means. The hip hop hall of fame if there is one. He was probably one of the best hip hop artist ever, but i am confused on an induction to the rock and roll one unless this is general practice?? And journey finally got inducted, I would of thought that happen along time ago or maybe just steve perry. And yes journey is awesome and over deserving and pearl jam was classic alternative at its finest. Good class indeed.
The Pieces Of The Browns Puzzle Is Falling Into Place And I Cant Wait Till Its Finally Finished
Todd Rundgren is on Dave's list of who should be in the HoF. I will, without hesitation, second this. He was in the brilliant Nazz out of Philly. Interestingly enough, their label thought they would be the east coast Monkees, however, one listen to the opening track of their 1st album and you can hear they are significantly fuzzier and harder edged than the Monkees ever were. Blistering fuzzed out guitar that makes them more like an American version of The Kinks or The Who. They could rock hard but, they also had, thanks to Rundgren, a wonderful knack and ear for gorgeous melodies, ballads and songwriting. They have three albums, but, their 2nd was intended to be a double LP. The label insisted they trim it down so, the third is essentially the cuts they removed. That third album is good but, the first two are fantastic examples of late 60's American rock (with leanings towards 60's British rock). In fact, I would put those first two Nazz albums in my list of best American rock albums from the 60's.
After Nazz broke up, Rundgren went on to record several solo albums, including the critically beloved double LP, "Something Anything" (1972). He also formed the band 'Utopia' and he became a very successful and sought after producer and engineer. Over nearly 50 years Rundgren has left his mark on many classic, loved and respected albums. If there ever was one, he is definitely a worthy candidate for inclusion into the HoF.
The first concert I ever went to was The James Gang, Humble Pie and a one hit wonder band named Babe Ruth.
I think the tickets were either $4.50 or $5.00.
Yes, I'm old. lol
I love me some James Gang. Especially "Yer Album" and "Rides Again". They often get played over here. I have a Babe Ruth album too but, must admit that I don't remember the last time I played it.
My first concert was the original Kiss in 1979. Uriah Heep opened for them. I was in 5th grade and totally in awe of the spectacle of lights, fire, blood, explosions and music.
Does anyone else find it hilarious that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is hilariously trying to broaden their demographics for fans of rap music, but still hardly put any women into the HoF? Their have been more rappers inducted into the HoF than woman in the past two years. They induct so little women. What's up with that?
You guys have GOT to listen to Yes' induction speeches... particularly Rick Wakeman's at the end. Dude basically ran a 5-minute stand-up routine that had me on the floor!
I can't even link to it, because the subject matter would get my post booted from the thread.

I once saw an interview with Wakeman where he said during one of Yes' ridiculously long solos he would often order a curry, it would be delivered, he would eat and finish it before the song was over!

I don't find it funny in the slightest. I find it to be glaringly stupid and myopic... and it pzzzes me off. Grrrlz do music every bit as well as dudes do.
There is only one reason for the ratio of men/women inductees to the HOF to read as it does: Dudes choose who's on the list.

And they write the Art History books. There were A LOT more women painting throughout western art history than the books tell you and they were every bit as good AND BETTER as the men they focus on.
