Interesting that we already had a private workout out with Watson. That would explain why Jackson and Brown (Jackson Brown?) were not at his Pro Day.

I hope we get Dan Freeny a private workout at center. I think he can make the leap.

Why have Dan Freeny make the leap. We don't need him anymore.

Dion Dawkins is a VERY interesting prospect I would love for us to get for RT. He would be a nice upgrade I think.

I'm not sure why we don't have Watt coming in. Many are projecting him late first. It's quite possible he could drop to #33 and I think he would be a steal there.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Would he possibly be worth trading back into the 1st to get?

Watt will not make it to 33. If he does, you either trade back overnight to pick up a 2nd and 3rd or turn the card in and deal with the changes to the plan.

I'm not sure about that. I don't usually promote trading up for players. This draft class is heavy on the D side of the ball and there will still be a lot of talent out there.

My thinking is that players drop in every draft. There may be a few players left in the 30-32 range that could cause Watt to slip to us. Not saying that will happen but I would believe that possibility would give cause to have Watt visit.

Plus, moving from #33 to #29 or so wouldn't be that expensive so I wouldn't put moving up to grab him out of the realm of possibility.

I am the opposite. I do believe in trading up to get a player you like.
I would rather draft 4 high quality guys than 2 with 5 okay guys and 5 blah guys.
Of course that means trading up for the right guys.

Personally, I do't like our pick slotted at #12 overall.
I have 5-7 top guys. 5 for sure and a couple that I think might be.
If one of my top 5 starts to drop then I would trade up to get him.

If we can't do that, I would look to trade down because I don't see a lot of difference between #12 and somewhere in the low 20's.

That is just my style. Play the draft. If you like a player that won't fall to you then go get him.
If a bunch of players are deemed near equal then trade down.
If a guy you like is available at your pick take him.

I think we stay pat up to pick #52...after that I can see us putting together some trades like to get back into the 2nd...use our 5th and 6th round picks to move into the 3rd???

This is a year that we can give up some Quantity for Quality.

it will all depend who we like and how much!

I agree. Get as many picks in the first 3 rounds as possible. After that you can find FA players who have already done something who are probably just as good as any player you draft.

No doubt you can get lucky with a late pick, but the odds aren't in your favor.

sorry to get off track.

So do we got any more news on the 30 coming to Berea to visit. Or who we are privately working out at their colleges or training camps?

do we have a list of our Combine 60 visits allowed?

Cleveland has not done many private workout or player visits in the lead-up to the 2017 NFL Draft. One of the first came this past week, with Arizona State kicker Zane Gonzalez.

Gonzalez worked out for the Browns prior to his pro day, as the All-American kicker noted in an interview with Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

The Browns coaching staff got to see Gonzalez in person in January’s Senior Bowl. He was the kicker for the North squad, while Hue Jackson and Cleveland coached the South roster.

Gonzalez has a very big leg, booming over 75 percent of his kickoffs for touchbacks over the last two seasons. His field goal accuracy soared from 75 percent in 2015 to over 90 percent (23-for-25) as a senior. Gonzalez made 7 of his 9 attempts from beyond 50 yards.

The Sun Devils play outdoors on natural grass, though the weather between Tempe and Cleveland doesn’t get much more divergent.

They get worse wind out there in Zona I'd imagine though. It'd be nice to have a new stud kicker. I'm a young one so considering Phil Dawson was the only consistent member until Joe I have a soft spot for kickers.

Browns have worked out Myles Garrett, Patrick Mahomes and DeShone Kizer privately

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/inde...t_myles_g.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns have already conducted private workouts with Myles Garrett, Patrick Mahomes and DeShone Kizer, league sources have told cleveland.com.

The Browns are expected to take Garrett No. 1 overall, and the two quarterbacks, Mahomes and Kizer are under consideration at No. 12 or with a later pick along with Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson.

The Browns will also conduct private workouts with Trubisky Deshaun Watson, and have been skipping the Pro Days to focus on the private sessions.

Jackson, however, did attend Ohio State's Pro Day on Thursday, where he talked to safety Malik Hooker.

Garrett, who established himself as a physical freak at the NFL Combine, is still apparently atop the Browns' board, and they're set to take him unless one of the quarterbacks blows them away during the pre-draft process. In addition to the private workouts, the Browns will bring the top prospects to Berea for visits.

At Garrett's workout and during his interviews with the Browns, he had to answer questions about apparently taking plays off last season. Garrett was battling a high ankle sprain and didn't equal his production from the previous two seasons.

Still, he's not lacking for confidence.

"I feel like I'm the best player in the draft," Garrett said at the Combine.

Garrett also apologized to the Browns for jokingly asking the Cowboys to trade up to draft him in a video. He said he's up for coming to town to turn around the 1-15 team.

"Everybody has their down years and at anytime can be turned around," Garrett said. "The Cowboys, they turned around their season in a big way, and anybody can do that. I'm going to bring some work ethic into practice and into the weight room that will change things around there and maybe be a voice of leadership that can help swing things."

As for Mahomes, one league source said he believes the Browns like him better than Notre Dame's Kizer. Mahomes' stock has been rising and recent had a private workout with the Saints.

"I know they loved how well-prepared I was. They could tell I had really studied and knew my stuff," Mahomes told NFL.com. "And they liked the way the ball came out of my hand. They said every time they see me under center, I look better and better."

ESPN's Todd McShay covered Kizer's Pro Day live Thursday and believes he'll go in the late first round to early second. The Browns have the No. 33 and No. 52 picks in the second round.

"This guy (Kizer) makes some throws that (Mitch) Trubisky and Watson cannot make,'' McShay said. "But Kizer also misses a lot of throws that typically you wouldn't see from Trubisky or Watson. I think probably he has the strongest arm. He has the biggest upside of all of these quarterbacks.''

Conley isn't getting much love, but I think he is going to be a very good NFL corner. He has very good size and he proved he has the athleticism during the Combine.

I agree with you Vers. Now Sidney Jones is off the early pick menu, I prefer someone like Conley, Sutton, White with one of our 2nd round picks. I don't like any of the other CBs enough over Jones with #12. I'm really disappointed for the kid - he was the best in the draft IMHO frown

EDIT: I also like Kevin White, Rasul Douglas, Damontae Kaezee (sp) 3rd round on. A quality DB should slip into the 3rd, be that a safety or corner.

Joe Mixon - RB - Player

Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon remains on the Chargers' draft board.

This wouldn't normally be news, but one of the themes of Mixon's draft coverage will be all the boards he isn't on. He's reportedly been removed from both Miami and New England's. "We just wanted to pick his brain and see where he was at football-wise because he wasn’t at the combine," coach Anthony Lynn said. "We know he can play football. He’s one of the best backs in the draft." Mixon is a Day 1 talent who will hope to go on Day 2. With his domestic violence baggage, it's possible he tumbles to Day 3.

Browns notebook: Ohio State safety Malik Hooker takes pre-draft visit to Berea, Clemson QB Deshaun Watson auditions and more

Browns coach Hue Jackson can embrace Ohio State standout safety Malik Hooker again.
Jackson was photographed shaking Hooker’s hand and wrapping his left arm around the prospect’s shoulder March 23 as they chatted during Ohio State’s pro day in Columbus. The image circulated on Twitter and excited Browns fans who know how well Hooker played for the Buckeyes during his lone season as a starter.
Hooker revealed Thursday during an interview on ESPN Cleveland WKNR (850-AM) that he’s paying a pre-draft visit to Browns headquarters in Berea.
“I’m driving down to Cleveland today to meet with the Browns today and tomorrow for a team visit,” Hooker said. “I’m driving down there today, and I’ll be down there till tomorrow afternoon.”
Asked if he gets the feeling the Browns really like him, Hooker said, “I definitely do get that feeling.”
The Browns are expected to draft Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett first overall. They could target a quarterback with their second first-round pick, No. 12 overall, but Hooker would also make sense for the Browns, considering their dire need for a safety.
There’s a good chance Hooker won’t be available at No. 12, though. He’s widely projected to become a top-10 pick, but there are always surprises, and no one really knows whether his health could cause him to slide a bit.
Hooker suffered a torn labrum in his left hip and a sports hernia Nov. 26 in a win over Michigan but played through the injury Dec. 31 in a loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Fiesta Bowl. He had surgery Jan. 16 and didn’t work out at the NFL Scouting Combine or Ohio State’s pro day as a result.
Hooker said he resumed running this week and expects to begin cutting in about two weeks.
“I feel like I’ll be ready by June, July, in my opinion,” he said. “Other than that, I feel pretty good. I don’t have no soreness or nothing like that.”
Busy week
On the heels of the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix, the Browns’ top decision makers are back to the grind of the pre-draft process.
The Browns held a private workout Thursday morning with Clemson national championship-winning quarterback Deshaun Watson, a league source confirmed.
North Carolina quarterback and Mentor native Mitchell Trubisky will work out for the Browns on Friday in Berea as part of their local prospects day, another source confirmed.
In addition to Hooker, Ohio State cornerback and Massillon High School graduate Gareon Conley will make a pre-draft visit to the Browns on Friday, a source said.
Jackson and head of football operations Sashi Brown have skipped the quarterback pro days and instead focused on private workouts with the top prospects. By the end of Friday, they’ll have worked out Watson, Trubisky, Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer and Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes.
Jackson and Brown also skipped Garrett’s pro day on Thursday, but the Browns were represented by their scouting department and have privately worked him out, too.
After posting an impressive time of 4.64 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine, the 6-foot-4 1/2, 272-pound Garrett ran a 4.61 during his pro day, per NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock.
Huge investment
At the owners meetings, Jackson explained why the Browns made Kevin Zeitler the highest-paid guard in the NFL by signing the former Cincinnati Bengals standout March 9 to a five-year, $60 million contract, which includes $31.5 million guaranteed.
“He’s tough, strong, great initial quickness, finishes blocks, he knows the system, he knows how to play within the system that I incorporate here,” said Jackson, Zeitler’s offensive coordinator with the Bengals for two seasons. “He’s an unbelievable guy and loves to play. So he fits. I think he’ll hit the ground running just because he’ll understand what we’re trying to do day one more so than somebody else. I think that was a huge piece in getting him to come. But he’ll show his worth very quickly. He’s a really good player.”
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis agreed.
“He’s been a good, hard-nosed physical player for us,” Lewis said at the owners meetings. “He’s a kid who’ll knock down that wall if you ask him to do it. He’s going to do it all day long if that’s what it took.”
The Browns also signed former Green Bay Packers center J.C. Tretter to anchor their line, giving him a three-year, $16.75 million contract, including $10 million guaranteed.
“He’s very athletic. He’s smart. He’s tough,” Jackson said. “He’s coming from a winning organization. But more so than that, I think he knows how to play the game. I think he brings another element of a rough, tough guy who knows how to play and play in the elements, which we play in, the rain, the snow, the cold. He knows how handle it.”
Going separate ways
Jackson handpicked quarterback Robert Griffin III as his starter last year, but Griffin suffered a broken shoulder in the regular-season opener, missed 11 games and finished 1-4. The Browns cut him March 10, one day before they would have owed him a $750,000 roster bonus.
“I hope Robert does have more opportunity because I like Robert Griffin as a person. He works hard. He did everything I asked him to do,” Jackson said. “It’s just unfortunate that it didn’t work out from the playing standpoint. Obviously, getting hurt early didn’t help.
“He came in and played as well as he could the last several weeks, showed that he can play in the National Football League, but I think just where we are and what we’re trying to accomplish, we really want to find a guy that we think can be there for the long haul as we move forward. And that’s just where it is, but I would recommend Robert any place that needed a quarterback.”

Joe Mixon - RB - Player

Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon visited the Packers last week.

It doesn't mean much as players take tons of visits this time of year. However, Green Bay would be an interesting landing spot for Mixon, who would probably be a first-rounder if not for off-field concerns. With Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael atop the running back depth chart, adding backfield depth should be a top priority for Green Bay on draft weekend.

Besides the Packers, Mixon has also visited with the Bengals, Broncos, Chargers, Raiders and Saints.

Pretty handy tracker of contact we've had with prospects.

An interesting side note, Trubisky doesn't count against our thirty prospect visits because he is considered a local prospect.

Thanks, very handy. I see now you were right about the multiple visits for each of the top QBs. Thanks for posting. Wonder why Adams hasn't been in yet, or if he's coming.
