Hello Browns!
I am a diehard Carolina Panther fan, and we have a forum-wide mock draft going on over at our message board. We each got to pick a team, and I wanted the Browns! With so many picks, I couldn't resist the opportunity.
SO FAR... we are halfway through Round 2, and I've already made picks at 1, 12, & 33.
1) Myles Garrett - DE - Texas A&M (Best player available, in my opinion. Will be an impact player from day 1.)
12) DeShone Kizer - QB - Notre Dame (There was a run on QB's early. Trubisky, Mahomes, & Watson were all off the board by 12. Kizer is a big QB with a big arm.)
33) Cam Robinson - OT - Alabama (Book-end RT to complement Joe Thomas. Gives Kizer the protection he is going to need!)
I will update this as I get to pick more...
Initial thoughts? How would ACTUAL Browns fans feel about this, 3 picks in?

......and I wanted the Browns! You poor, poor thing! Regarding your draft, would you mind sharing all the picks in-between #1 and #12 as well as picks leading up to #33? That might give us give a more informed opinion based on what was available or not. I'd be interested to know if OJ Howard was available at 12. Thanks.

Garrett was a (virtual) no-brainer. The pick at #12 may bring forth a fair bit of criticism depending on who was still on the board...Howard? Safety/CB. Somewhat surprised that Cam was still available in the 2nd.
Edit: Just saw the list of picks Howard at #12 would have been good and perhaps Webb (QB) at #33...

Solomon Thomas (even with Ogbah) and OJ Howard would be tough for me to pass up at 12. I definitely see why someone would choose Kizer at 12 for CLE as QB is a need for us.

I like Kizer as the 4th QB option, late in round 2 (JMHO) and would likely take any of these over him at #12:
Reuben Foster, LB Solomon Thomas, DE Dalvin Cook, RB Mike Williams, WR
I'd definitely take Cam @ 33, but don't think he'll be there.

Good start at #1, then it fell apart in my opinion.
While we need a QB of the future, I'm not a fan of taking Kizer at 12. 33 maybe, 52 sure. Not 12. And with all of the FA spending on O-Line, no way do we take a RT at 33 with all of the holes we have.

I see you guys really love drafting QB's. It has been so long since we as Panther fans have needed a QB, so we don't remember how hit or miss drafting QB's can be. We remember Kerry Collins, Jake Delhomme, & Cam Newton. We don't remember the Matt Moore, Rodney Peete, David Carr, Chris Weinke, Brian St. Pierre, Vinny Testeverde, etc days...

You are a glutton for punishment to want the Browns...lol.
I would be irate if we select Kizer at 12 (or anywhere before round 3 to be honest). I like Robinson and think he can play RT, but I don't know if the Browns are in the market for OL after the FA period. Obviously, Garrett is a no brainer.
Thanks for sharing and welcome to the board!!!

But I wouldn't be unhappy if that's how the firsst three picks played out. Time to hit the secondary IMO.

I hate the Kizer pick. I would have gone with Thomas or Foster in this scenario. Possibly Howard.
At 33, I can see the OT as BPA.

I apologize for the Kizer pick. Haha I just figured... hometown kid, big, strong arm, played in big games. If he can get someone to block for him, and you give him a couple weapons, I think he's the kind of QB that can make a difference in the AFC.

Given that the other QBs were already off the board, I can see why you took him. But since all those other QB needy teams had taken one already, you might have been able to wait until the second round, IMHO.

1) Myles Garrett - Easy pick.
12) DeShone Kizer - QB - Notre Dame (There was a run on QB's early. Trubisky, Mahomes, & Watson were all off the board by 12. Kizer is a big QB with a big arm.)
^^ This pick only makes sense if the Kizer is viewed as a potential franchise QB and not a 'forced' pick at QB just because they need one...if that makes sense...
33) Cam Robinson - OT -
This is the only pick so far that I flat out disagree with. The depth and quality of this draft is on defense and the thinnest area is on OL. Browns FO has already spent money to address the OL and has answers they feel good about at RT in Coleman and may even bring Pastor back.
TLDR would have preferred a defensive player.

got to Adress safety and cornerback with a couple of picks, the Browns have a hot mess after Joe Haden, and even lost some stand by players from two years ago.
Browns lost out on an attempt to sign safety Tony Jefferson in free agency, and have brought in Macdougald another free agent safety for a visit.
Safety, is a real need, along with #2 corner, #3 corner, and also, other safety.
Browns also could really use a tight end, if he's one of the top level ones, top 5, that may have an impact and become something special.
You adressed a Tackle?
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Is Mixon included? Think he could play havoc with some mocks if he goes, especially early.

Solomon Thomas is one of the highest rated players... Kizer is not well loved on this board...so I and most would think its a terrible pick.
for me it would be Thomas regardless of over kill - BPA over rides it. Or OJ Howard. Those would be the two BPA for me. We need a Franchise QB but there is no way we are going to utilize our #12 for the 4th QB in this QB weak draft.
jmho From here on in I would concentrate on the best Defensive players left in this draft especially DBs. Good Luck
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Completely agree with EO.
Obviously QB is a matter that needs to be addressed but if you take/sign a qb for qb-sake you end up like the Houston Texans without the talent.
Thomas is sitting there at 12 I've got Usain Bolt running that ticket in.

We just got to the Browns pick at 52... I selected:
Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU (Secondary help is a need, and White is the best defensive back on the board. A steal at 52, in my opinion.)
Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE San Francisco 49ers: Mitch Trubisky, QB Chicago Bears: Jamal Adams, S Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette, RB Tennessee Titans: Marshon Lattimore, CB New York Jets: Patrick Mahomes, QB LA Chargers: Malik Hooker, S Carolina Panthers: Derek Barnett, DE Cincinnati Bengals: Garrett Bolles, OT Buffalo Bills: Deshaun Watson, QB New Orleans Saints Jonathan Allen DE Cleveland Browns: DeShone Kizer QB Arizona Cardinals: OJ Howard, TE Philadelphia Eagles: Christian McCaffrey, RB Indianapolis Colts: Reuben Foster, LB Baltimore Ravens: Solomon Thomas, DE Washington Redskins: Dalvin Cook, RB Tennessee Titans: Mike Williams, WR Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Taco Charlton, DE Denver Broncos: Ryan Ramczyk, OT Detroit Lions: Corey Davis, WR Miami Dolphins: Haason Reddick, OLB New York Giants: Marlon Humphrey, CB Oakland Raiders: Quincy Wilson, CB Houston Texans: Takkarist McKinley, OLB Seattle Seahawks: Forrest Lamp. LT Kansas City Chiefs: Tim Williams, DE Dallas Cowboys: Jabril Peppers, S/LB Green Bay Packers: Malik McDowell, DE Pittsburgh Steelers: Evan Engram, TE Atlanta Falcons Budda Baker, FS New Orleans Saints Gareon Conley, CB Cleveland Browns: Cam Robinson, OT San Francisco 49ers: Obi Melifonwu, S Jacksonville Jaguars: Charles Harris, DE Chicago Bears: David Njoku, TE LA Rams: John Ross, WR LA Chargers: Cooper Krupp, WR New York Jets: Antonio Garcia, OT Carolina Panthers: Zay Jones, WR Cincinnati Bengals:[censored] Tabor, CB New Orleans Saints: Juju Smith, WR Philadelphia Eagles: TJ Watt, OLB Buffalo Bills: Curtis Samuel, WR Arizona Cardinals: Zach Cunningham, LB Indianapolis Colts: Desmond King, CB/FS Baltimore Ravens: Pat Elflein, C Minnesota Vikings: Dan Feeney, G Washington Redskins: Ryan Anderson, ILB Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ethan Pocic, C Denver Broncos: Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE Cleveland Browns: Tre'Davious White, CB

There was an early run on QB's, and the talent at QB drops off tremendously after Kizer, in my opinion. May have been a stretch, but if the other needs get filled, why not take a shot on a big QB with a lot of potential?

Just find it very hard to believe a team in dire need of a qb would just take the one that's left. Not a likely scenario but hey to each their own.

If ST is there at 12 you take him no matter who else is on the board. It would be insane for us to get both MG and ST. Won't happen.

hey Vanguard, btw I'm doing one on another board where I have the Panthers (and the Buccs). Trades are not allowed in this one. This is where I'm at so far with them:
8. Leonard Fournette, RB LSU 40. Tre'Davious White, DB LSU 64. Roderick Johnson, OT FSU 98. Daeshon Hall, DE Texas A&M 115. Rayshawn Jenkins, S Miami
I thought about taking a WR at 98 that is pretty good, but was worried Hall might not make it to my next pick. Plus I'm happy I got Jenkins. Definitely hoping to find a wideout for them soon.

With the 65th pick of the draft, for the Browns, I went with:
Isaac Asiata - G/C - Utah The kid is a bruiser, is exceptionally quick, and can play Guard or Center. He's an animal.
Myles Garrett - DE DeShone Kizer - QB Cam Robinson - OT Tre'Davious White - CB Larry Ogunjobi - DT Isaac Asiata - G/C

Nice job, thanks for posting.
Probably unrealistic in one point. The Browns addressed the interior offensive line twice in free agency including making the right guard the highest paid in history.
and . The Browns have unbelievably exceptional needs for all 5 defensive backs, not named Joe Haden.
Thanks for showing the order too.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I can't find a mock draft that has us taking anyone but Garrett lol...
I think the path is beyond clear. One of the easier, no-brainer type decision Sashi, Paul, Andrew and whoever else is involved in that process decisions to make.
It should allow them to focus all their attention and what not on the crap-load of second round picks and #12.

I agree. Ive said it before but drafting Garrett is like a get out of jail free card. He's undeniably the top prospect. If somehow he doesn't work out the FO won't be derided for the pick. Luck has to shine our way sometime. Garrett gets 12 sacks and DROY, we make the playoffs. Live in your hopes not your fears
