I agree with that. I think a bigger thumper or enforcer at MLB would be the ticket. Big Thumpers...are best for the 3-4 ILB where they don't have to cover ground sideline to sideline.
Now every once in a blue moon there is a 250 MLB that runs like a deer...just haven't seen him lately.
We have been in a 3-4 for so long...2005 with the Dick Jauron years as an exception...we seem to look at those thumpers for the ILB understandably.
Lee n Keuchely types for MLB in the NFL 4-3 defenses. Personally I think Kirksey is the only candidate we have.

We have Davis...
And I mentioned maybe looking at trading for Stephone Anthony...
He's not a thumper and actually runs well for 6-3 245. Played very well his rookie year, was then moved to strongside LB and struggled. I think a move back would be good for him. Could give us a very good young LB corp. I don't think he'd cost much.

Got it and it makes sense now. I don't like Davis not for a 4-3...as a ILB in the 3-4 he was serviceable. So upgrading on him with this kid Stephone Anthony could be good as long as he can be successful sideline to sideline. More than ever in a 4-3 need that field speed in the NFL.

T.J. McDonald, Safety: It's today's NFL safeties who can cover who are incredibly valuable. McDonald ranked inside the NFL's top 25 safeties in that regard in 2016, per Pro Football Focus, and at 26, his best days of football should be ahead of him. Thanks for posting this, but I can't agree w/it at all. McDonald stinks at coverage.

I didn't say a word to you. I gave my honest feelings about McDonald. You deliberately insulted me.
It wasn't a bad one, but why feel the need when my comment had nothing to do w/you.
Of course, you are same guy who said I was the son of Satan and would burn in hell for eternity after I bad-mouthed Holmgrem. So, I am not surprised by whatever you say.

By Conor Orr Around The NFL Writer Published: March 24, 2017 at 03:46 p.m. Updated: March 24, 2017 at 10:27 p.m. Carolina Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman very much believes in this year's draft. So much so that he was willing to rationalize the trade of Kony Ealy to the Patriots, which essentially netted him a second-round pick eight slots higher than the third-round pick they included in the swap. "It's a heavy draft and it was an opportunity for us to move up. To you guys, eight spots doesn't seem like much. But to me, it's gold," Gettleman said, via the Charlotte Observer. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...t-spots-is-gold

jmho When Belichick was here he ran a 4-3 and brought in Pepper Johnson as the Mike. To say one kind of a guy is the only way to do things is myopic. A big time hitter at MLB has worked in the past and could work again depending on how he is used and what he can do...

This was brought up about the 3-4 ILB and discussed by the experts not fans on what I just regurgitated on a slower ILB can be utilized in the 3-4...it was discussed in length when we signed an aging Steeler ILB I forgot his name but he was ok...
So this really wasn't my opinion...it was what I learned from past discussions.

No offense to Matt ...... but ... Who? Not that this helps ... but i just found this .. cause i still don't know who he is and i don't remember him in our roster ... its hard to remember each of the 6,932 players we've had since 99 ... Matt McCants - T - Browns Browns signed OT Matt McCants, formerly of the Bears. A 2012 sixth-rounder by the Giants, McCants has appeared in 30 career games, making three starts as a rookie. He spent time with the Raiders, Browns, and Bears last season and will compete for a reserve job this summer. Related: Bears Source: Akron Beacon Journal Mar 27 - 11:04 AM

Colin Kaepernick - QB - Free Agent
ESPN's Dan Graziano reports Colin Kaepernick is looking for a team which "offers him a chance to compete for a starting job." Graziano adds Kap is looking for "something like $9 million to $10 million" per year. There are not many teams with starting jobs available, and that list grows even smaller when the 49ers, his former team, are removed from the equation. Perhaps he will get a look from the Browns or Texans once the Tony Romo and Jimmy Garoppolo sagas mercifully come to an end, but Kaepernick might need to lower his asking price and expectations to land a job.

Josh McCown just got a little less money than that and a chance to start. There is no reason Kaepernick shouldn't get the same.

NFL Network showed the interview with Hue and it sure didn't sound like Kaepernic was in his plans ...

While I agree that Kaep should get a starting gig with as much or bigger than Josh, based on Kaep's current age and NFL career accomplishments. However, Josh McCown, as bad as he is on the field, won't cause a media circus for the owner, the front office, the coaches, the players and the fans. Kaep will. Some teams, even ones needing a QB, aren't interested in that type of attention.

My guess is that Kaepernick's salary demands are greater than teams are willing to pay for a player that is going to be a "headache." You can't be not good, a distraction, and expensive.

My guess is that Kap stinks and he isn't worth the bother. He is a polarizing figure and he doesn't have the skills to off-set that.
I bet people would have NO problem signing Cam or Wilson had they done the same thing. The difference is that those two can play and Kap stinks!
I want to mention one other thing about Kap. Guys who defend him [like they were on the radio today] mention that there was nothing wrong w/his protest. I agree w/that, but they are leaving parts out. This is just my opinion, but I think people were upset about three particular incidents:
1. Making such a big deal about his political opinions and then not even taking the time to vote. That spells "fraud" in my book.
2. Wearing socks w/pigs dressed in police uniforms.
3. Wearing a Castro shirt and then when being questioned by a reporter who was born in a Cuban imprisonment camp, Kap defended Castro and once againg labeled the United States as oppressive.
Thus, it's fairly easy to see why some people dislike him. It's not about "he took a knee" to protest injustices in our country. There were a lot of players doing the same thing, but they aren't receiving much disdain from the masses.
Then, you factor in that he has been labeled as a poor teammate who was aloof in previous years and he actually stinks as a qb..............one can easily see why he does not have a job.

I don't get the buzz surrounding Kap either. Like is it really that much of a mystery why no team is even seemingly, remotely, interested in him?
Bad person, public disaster and a below average at best/being as generous as possible quarterback. Noone wants a loser both on and off the field.
Math is easy to add up.

I don't think Kaepernick is good, he is average. But teams are desperate for QBs. He had 17 TDs and 4 INTs last year. That is worth a chance to compete for a starting job when some teams are going into the season thinking about starting Cody Kessler, Josh McCown, Tom Savage, etc.
Also, nothing Kaepernick has done makes him a bad person. One could argue that he is dumb or misguided or misinformed or many other things. A bad person is not one of those things.

Joe Thomas: NFL teams view Colin Kaepernick as unworthy distraction http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19011...and-browns-saysThe Cleveland Browns have been silent in the three weeks since Colin Kaepernick became a free agent a year after they were reportedly willing to make a trade for the controversial veteran quarterback. Joe Thomas, the Browns' Pro Bowl left tackle and part-time Twitter analyst, has offered a possible reason, saying NFL teams no longer look at Kaepernick as an elite QB, and his political stance of taking a knee during the national anthem in 2016 was too much for a player who was neither a starter nor a star. Kaepernick has drawn almost no interest from NFL teams even though he quarterbacked the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl and had 16 touchdowns to four interceptions last season. Joe Thomas‏Verified account @joethomas73
My thoughts re: @Kaepernick7? Teams don't currently view him as a starting QB, and NFL teams accept ZERO distractions from their backup QBs.
For his part, when Browns coach Hue Jackson coached the Raiders, he said he wanted to draft Kaepernick "in the worst way" in 2011. Kaepernick has not been a part of any quarterback discussion with the Browns, however, Jackson told NFL Network. ProFootballTalk.com reported a year ago that the Browns were willing to trade for Kaepernick but the deal fell apart when he would not reduce his salary from $12 million. PFT reported that the Browns were willing to give up a third-round pick and pay Kaepernick in the range of $7 million to $8 million. But this year, it's been crickets -- and the Browns have serious question marks at quarterback.

I think the Coach dropped the ball on that one. When that first happened, he should have had a Team meeting at half time and said: This is My Time, This is my Team whether were at practice or Game Day, You will respect Me and all the others. If you need to kneel then you will be escorted back to the locker room until the end of the game. End of story.
