This news was somewhat eclipsed today by the GOP health care bill. But I think it's pretty significant.

Good. We need the pipeline to keep OPEC in check.

They hated this, well, them and libs who don't have a clue as to what is going on.

Right, what could possibly be wrong with not being under OPEC's thumb as much as usual.

Oil companies can't quit losing money and people want to give them more projects? They can't even run their own businesses without losing money. Sorry Conservatives. Shale oil will never be profitable. Not only are you losing us money money in the short term, you're also screwing us over for the long term.

Who cares what OPEC is doing? 1 OPEC country is fighting a civil war. Another OPEC country can't even sell oil internationally. The other countries are just trying to keep oil over $35 a barrel so they can continue waning off the poison.

I'm sure the 35 permanent jobs created will really help us with our debt.

Trump just taking care of his billionaire buddies. This pipeline does little to nothing in the way of money for America. The odds that it spills at some point are almost 100%... that will be good for America though. We can create hazardous waste work.

Well that didn't take long. The pipeline sprang its first leak and the built in alarm that's supposed to let them know its leaking failed.
So as I had stated before, there are jobs created. A clean up crew will be dispatched to clean up the mess.

The response from the right will be along the lines of "Fake News". I can't believe we have to question reality on a daily basis to entertain the whims of the troglodyte right! Facts are no longer important, preconceived ideologies rule the day... scary stuff.

Well, it's from last year (April 2016), so yeah - it definitely didn't take long.

Yep, sometimes pipelines leak. They will send in a clean up crew and fix the problem. Environmental concerns will be addressed. It happens.

It is still a far cry from what happens when you ship oil by truck and it crashes, dumping its oil and kill people on the roads.

It is still a far cry from what happens when you ship by rail and the train derails, killing entire towns in a flaming horror.

The fact doesn't change however that oil must move in order for our world to continue to operate.

Not to mention that a pipe and pumping stations is a much cheaper delivery method.

You forgot to add that when gas isn't available, the same people that pitch a fit over pipelines will also pitch a fit about not being able to get to work.

And when the windfarms don't provide enough electric power to turn on their lights, or run their hot tub, all hell will break loose.

Yet, we shouldn't use oil...........just like Al Gore doesn't use oil, or energy.

It's the "others" that should pay more, not the liberal elite.

You know 40 I could get behind everything you said here if we were actually trying to change this fact by moving toward clean energy. That's what most on the right don't get. We know the world has to keep the lights on, but at what costs? Not moving toward cleaner, safer, more sustainable energy is just madness in our opinions.

Just wanted to point out that we are not that far apart on most issues.

I see solar farms all over the place. It's not that we aren't moving towards other options. The others options aren't all that reliable and cost effective at this point.

In the mean time, which could be another 30-50 years, we need to make sure we can meet our needs.

I embrace the day when all passenger cars are electic or natural gas, leaving only large fors of transportation such as big rigs, rail, and air using oil based fuels.

You made us give up DDT back in the day to save the Birds and now you slaughter them with your clean windmills and solar stations.

Just drove through a wind farm yesterday, around (south) of Paulding Ohio. No way to count them all - the wind turbines. Although, at least a third of them weren't running.

I don't know if there are 100 turbines, 200? At well over a million a pop, taxpayer subsidized, they darn well better be putting out a boatload of power.

Same thing going up S.R. 127/27 in Michigan. Wind turbines everywhere. (well north of Lansing - off the top of my head I can't tell you where they are). Half of them spinning.

And? Electricity costs have just gone up and up.

Factory not far from me installed a wind turbine years back. $750,000. He was told his "payback" period would be 5 - 7 years. It's been over 10, and it still hasn't paid for itself, let alone saved him money.

I looked into a wind turbine a number of years back. To adequately "run" my house, $50 grand, of which I'd have gotten roughly $25 grand back in tax write offs, state grants, etc.

So, spend $25 grand to save $125-150 a month. Not such a great deal for me. Then, add in the $300-5000 rebuild every 3-5 years..........uh, not gonna work. There would be NO payback time.
